Abyssal Whip

(Whew) Well, that’s most of them. Slashing weapons can be a great tool to keep with you on your explorations into unknown places in Runescape. If you were to come across a spider web, or perhaps some vines and could not get through, you could then slash them with a slashing weapon and bam, you can continue your journey.

There are many Runescape Slashing Weapons out there, not just the ones I mentioned. Also, remember that that order could change at any moment, and there ARE better Runescape Slashing Weapons out there. Runescape is constantly updating, changing, and growing. Nothing stays the same for long.

Now I am sure you are wondering why I have it so that a Dragon Halberd is stronger than an Abyssal Whip, This is because of the Slash bonuses. The Abyssal Whips slash bonus is +82; However, The Dragon Halberd’s slash bonus is +95. This is why I have listed them oddly. When you think of mithril and bronze, I am sure you think mithril is stronger. This is not always the case. A Mithril dagger has +5 slash while a Bronze Battle Axe has +6.

As you can see, there are many possibilities out there in the world of Runescape. The weapon plays a big part of what’s the best, but this is not to say the holder does not play any part.
If two guys (or girls) were to fight using Rune Scimitars, and say, one just had enough stats to use it, while the other has 60 attack and 60 strength. Who do you think would win? Well, most likely the second person, but say the first was wearing full rune. Then the odds would be in his favor. The player does indeed have a big role in what weapon is best. One could argue all day of which is best, because there really isn’t a “best weapon”.

Runescape Gold

Runescape Gold – To Buy Cheap Runescape Gold or Use Free Runescape Gold Guides?
Well for many players of Runescape there are two main desires; one is to be very skilled; two is to be very rich. Now developing skills takes time but becoming wealthy in the game of Runescape doesn’t necessarily require you to be a high level. So how do the majority of players go about gaining Runescape Gold?
Well for most it is a method of playing the game and working out how to make money by developing skills that can earn good amounts of Runescape money in comparison to the time invested. For others they have developed a keen sense of the Runescape markets and managed to provide a service of buying and selling major raw and processed materials that are in high demand and supply. This means of making Runescape gold is referred to as merchanting and loads of information about how to go about earning gold in this way can be found in free Runescape gold guides that are on many Runescape fan sites and forums. Even with the availability of free Runescape gold guides there are also many Runescape gold guides for sale on the internet, though from my experience none are really worth the money if you have been playing for a couple of months and have reviewed a few of the free guides to making Runescape gold on Runescape fan sites and forums.

Buying Cheap Runescape Gold
The increasing alternative that many Runescape players appear to be opting for is buying cheap Runescape gold from online gold selling stores. These Runescape gold sellers sell millions of Runescape gold for real world money. Whilst this is in breach of Jagex’s terms of use it hasn’t stopped the sale of Runescape gold from such stores continuing. According to many this industry of MMO gold selling, including games like Runescape, is now a multi-million dollar industry with an estimated half a billion dollars worth of sales for the 2005/2006 financial year.

Whilst I don’t support players buying Runescape gold, it is obviously a growing option but the big question of whether it is worth it is dependant on your position within life and in Runescape. I mean if you have a full or part time job and are looking to really start enjoying Runescape without spending the first few weeks of your Runescape career scrapping together a few thousand Runescape gold pieces to buy yourself iron amour; then for as little as $10 you could get yourself a million Runescape gold pieces and be well onto your way to really leveling some of those skills and building your own ability to earn Runescape gold via playing the game.

Alternatively if you are already a fairly experience player with a 100k in your bank, you might be well advise to look into some of the free Runescape gold making guides available to turn that 100k into a few million. Either way I’d probably properly research the ways of making Runescape gold from free fan sites and guide sites before I headed off to buy a Runescape millions guide or one like it.

Can You Make Runescape Gold by Buying Runescape Gold?
Now again whilst buying Runescape Gold is against Jagex’s terms of service, the are a number of individuals that I know of personally that have benefited greatly from investments in purchasing Runescape Gold for real world money. How? Well not so long ago they purchased a few million Runescape gold from a gold seller and purchased all the rares that they could afford then sat on their rares for a few months and sold them 9 months later for a HUGE real world money profit. There are little industries anywhere in the world that you can almost be certain of 300 – 400% return on your investment every passing year, but Runescape rare items are such an industry, without fail every year Runescape rare items have increased in value and with that increase so has there real world value, and with each Runescape million gold pieces being worth $5 - $10 in the real world market there have been people that I have literally made $1000’s from selling their Runescape items when they quit the game. You can’t get those sorts of returns on the stock market. So as some have already proved spending a little money in an investment is a great way to make a little money.

Please note that we don’t recommend doing this and there are some inherent uncertainties involved not to mention is against Runescape’s rules but that hasn’t stopped other from trying and actually making large amounts of Runescape Gold and real world dollars doing it.

Runescape 2 Cheats

Runescape 2 Cheats: The Love for Runescape 2 Hacks: Autominers, Item Duplicators & Autobots
It would appear that when people search for terms related to Runescape 2 all they really want to know about is how to make easy Runescape 2 Money or Gold through means of Runescape 2 cheats, hacks, autobots, item duplicators, stat changers or other sinister means of making money. How do I know this? Well I recently did some research on what Runescape players where searching for when they searched with the term Runescape 2. These were the results of the top 10 most searched for items including the term Runescape 2:
Runescape 2
Runescape 2 cheats
Runescape 2 hacks
Runescape 2 stat changer
Runescape 2 autominers
Runescape 2 item duplicators
Runescape 2 autoer for download
Runescape 2 money
Runescape 2 autobots
Runescape 2 stat editor

Why search for Runescape 2 Cheats, Hacks, Autominers & Item Duplicators?
It never ceases to amaze me just how many people out there are trying to cheat their way through Runescape and find a quick way of making a few extra gold pieces instead of playing the game like the rest of us do – just as a challenge and for fun. I don’t understand it? I mean I think it is a sad state of affairs when hundreds of people are searching for runescape 2 hacks and cheats instead of searching for things like runescape 2 help or forums where they can go to site like the forum I run, Runescape Boards, and get good quality help that will not only be loads more reliable but also won’t get your banned and all things considered will probably earn you a lot more Runescape gold along the way.

Make Runescape Gold the Right Way
The main reason I’m writing this guide is for all those out there attempting to find great free Runescape 2 cheats, which unfortunately don’t exist - like the runescape 2 stat changer (there has never been a Runescape 2 hack like this, if people are claiming they can change stats it is just a scam). So I’m here to say that there is a much better and smarter way to play Runescape, and it involves playing the game for fun with dedication. If you combine these with a bit of intelligence on time management you will have a wonderful character and loads of Runescape Gold and items in your account in no time. Take this advice from someone who has been playing and involved with the game for over 5 years. Just remember that all these short term methods of making gold also only last in the short term because sooner or later your character will get banned and all your gold will be lost. If you play smart and often you will make all the Runescape Gold you can dream of and you will have made it the right way and it will be yours to keep. Good luck.

New Quest Online - Part Three

Today sees the release of the third part of our ongoing Members’ Quest. The War against the Dark Lord continues. In order to track down the evil King Tyras, you must first make your way through The Underground Pass.

We now know from our team of scouts that the pass is in fact a deep and complex labyrinth, which is all but empty of human kind.

Your job is to find a way through the pass, so that King Lathas can send his troops through to the frontierlands of West Runescape.

We had hoped to get this information from our scouts, but for some reason we had trouble getting much sense out of them. One of them spoke of a man named Iban, but this was clearly lunacy, as Iban was of course the great Dark Knight who died many years ago.

The Underground Pass follows on from the Plague City and

Gnome Ball

Posted by coco

Runescape Gnome Ball is one of the earlier mini games that Jagex introduced to runescape. It has some basic rules and is member only. The game itself will reward players by increasing their range and agility skills. However, it is only a very minimum amount of experience and shouldn’t be considered a good way to train. It can be fun though, when played with a friend anywhere in the game.

The basic rules of Gnome Ball are explained by the game referee. He will also explain how to play the game. These rules are:

Throw the ball into the net at the opposite side of the field
Dodge gnomes trying to tackle you
Scores can be seen in the box at the top right of the game
Scoring a goal will give some range and agility experience
You need 5 goals to win and leave the game field
Overall, the rules are pretty simple and players should note they need their hands free so cannot take any weapons or items like flowers that are held.

The game will start when you are in possession of the gnomeball and you will have 3 options to decide what to do:

Pass - can pass to team mates in green

Tackle - can tackle opponents (other gnomes)

Shoot - you will try to score when choosing this option

The simple objective is running to the other end and shooting. However, gnomes will try and tackle you - so be on the boil and don’t let them tackle all the time. This runescape mini game can be fun for a while but there is little reward and is seldom played. At one stage there was a gnomeball league - but I haven’t read anything recently and don’t know whether it still exists.

1. About this guide (ATG)|

This guide is to inform you of how to obtain the set items, what they do when
you have the fullset, and the stats on them. I get asked many, many questions
about my armour (I myself use Torag), so I thought I would write this guide so
that everyone can know.

2. How to obtain Set items (HTO)

i. Coming Prepared (CPR)

There are many different items that you could take to help you, but these are
the items I suggest.

- Fremmenik Helm (Archer, Warrior, Beserker etc), melee def and slight mage def
- Plate armour, body, legs and shield
- Hide armour, change to this when fighting the mage, just take body and legs
- Melee weapon, although they have low magic def, you will need to wear robes
and then you will suffer from low defence, so mage isn’t recommended. Also
there are no “safe spots”
- Spade, this is required
- Teleport runes for when chest is opened
- Runes for bones to bananas, 1 nat, 2 water, 2 earth, sounds stupid, but the
extra food really helps if you want to rack up lots of kills.
- As many sharks as you can carry

ii. Getting there (GTT)

The set items are found in the new Barrows area. This is located to the east of
Mort Myre. You do not have to complete any quests to get there, except Priest
in Peril to get to Canifis. Mort Myre is located far south of Canifis. First,
you must go through the swamps. Here, you will get attacked by Shades. They
do not hurt you, but may turn you food into Rotten food, which you obviouslly
can’t eat =p. Once, through here, (head south) go along the long winding
road, then head east through Mort Myre, til you come to a bridge. Simply cross
it and head north and east, into the fenced area and there you are.

You will see 6 mounds of earth. When you are ready, click the Dig option on
your spade, and you will enter a catacomb. Inside is a sarcophagus. When you
click on it, you will get attacked by one of the 6 brothers, or find the way
to the catacomb tunnels. See “What to fight (WTF)” to ,see info on the
brothers. If you get a brother attack you, you can either kill him
(recommended), or go back up the stairs to the surface. All the brothers you
don’t kill before entering the tunnels will attack you randomly when you open
any door in the tunnels, which could take you by surprise.

Note - While you are in any of the catacombs, your prayer decreases about every
20 seconds.

When you have killed the 5 brothers that appear in the catacomb chambers
or you are ready, find the chamber that leads to the tunnels, click the
sarcophagus, and say you want to go in.

The layout of the tunnels is fairly simple, but it can be hard to navigate,
because you can only open certain doors. Your best bet to get to the chest is
to head toward the middle, first, go to one side, either north or south, then
head east or west as far as possible. You will now be in a corner. Go the
other direction as you went last, across 3 rooms. Now go the opposite
direction to the way you went first. You should end up at a door, that when
you click open, a puzzle appears. It is a fairly simple puzzle. If you get
it right, you will be able to open the door and get to the chest. If not,
repeat the above steps, but go in different directions to find another door
into the chest room.

It is best to wait outside the door with the puzzle, and kill the monsters in
there to count towards your kill count. Also, after about 20 minutes, they
will no longer auto attack you. This is helpful as it is very annoying when
you are trying to solve the puzzle and you keep getting attacked. However,
if you go through a door, you will get auto attacked again.

Once you have opened the chest, you will need to teleport out if possible, if
not, go as fast as you can to the south east, and up the ladder. When you
open it, rocks will fall on you every few seconds, damaging you.

Note - The only time your kill count resets to 0 is when you open the chest.

iii. What to fight (WTF)

There are 6 brothers located in the barrows. They are -

- Ahrim the Blighted (Level 98)
He is the mage. Could hit you the hardest if you’re in plate armour.

- Dharok the Wretched (Level 115)
Uses Great Axe. Can hit hard, but it’s quite slow, so you’ll have time
to eat.

- Guthan the Infested (Level 115)
One of the hardest, second highest defence, and annoying set effect.

- Karil the Tainted (level 98)
The ranger. Not too hard to hit, but can still hit hard, at a fairly
quick speed.

- Torag the Corrupted (level 115)
Has the highest defence, and uses crush weapons, but doesn’t hit that
hard.

- Verac the Defiled (Level 115)
Not very high defence, but the flail can hit through protect from
melee.

There are also several other types of monster located in the tunnels. They
are low levels, and are easy to kill. They too count toward your kill count.

iv. Does kill count matter (DKC)

As of yet, I am not certain whether kill count affects the reward you get in
the chest. However, I think that it is mainly luck, and whether you have killed
the 6 brothers or not. For example, I opened the chest at 166 kills, and got
Dharok’s helm, and once at 550+ and got runes and coins.

Your chances of getting a set item or not good, but the exp is fairly fast while
you are killing there, so it is worth it for that. As a general guide, it seems
better to kill all 6 brothers, and at least 100 kill count, because even if you
dont get a set item, you will get considerably more runes.

Runescape Dragon Weapon Guide

Posted by coco

At the time of the creation of this, there are four different types of Dragon Weapons out there for those of you who have an Attack level of 60 or above, and who has beaten the Hero’s and Lost City quests. But how do you know which one to use?

We’ll start off with the pros and cons of the different weapons — Longsword, Battleaxe, Dagger, and Mace.

Longsword - A fast weapon that deals a decent amount of damage. When I did this weapon test, I had a Strength level of 93. At the time, this weapon could hit a maximum of 24. It is also very accurate when it comes to slashing damage — slashing damage is good against enemies in chains and enemies in leather armour, not against plated enemies.
Special Attack: The Special Attack with the longsword is a more powerful strike that takes away 25% of your Attack Bar. This attack rarely (if ever) misses and can do more damage, but not always. In Attack Mode and Strength 95, I have hit 28 with this attack (I can usually only do 24 this way).

Battleaxe - In RSC, this is the definite choice, but is it still all that great? The price is still 200,000, but it’s not worth it. Not at a long shot. The slowest of the dragon weapons, and barely any more accurate than the longsword. At the Strength level I had when testing the weapons (93), I could hit a maximum of 26. This is higher than the longsword, but doesn’t even out the slow attack rate. It is however good against plated enemies with the aggressive crush attack, as well as it is good against enemies in chains and/or leather armour. Sounds good, doesn’t it? Well, it’s not. Way too slow.
Special Attack: Temporarily increases Strength by 20 and decreases Attack by 5. It costs all of the Attack Bar and is a good way to “pot up” if you don’t have a Super Strength Potion. Note that if you use this together with a potion, it won’t give you an extra effect.

Dagger - Very weak, very cheap, very fast, and you can poison it. With Strength 93, I think the maximum I could hit was 18 or 19, and it has a very fast attack rate. It’s accuracy is not the best, but good enough to hit at a decent rate. With poison, this weapon is proven to be great against high leveled enemies (100+). Against low-leveled enemies, it kills at the same rate as the battleaxe.
Special Attack: A double attack (one attack that hits as if you attacked twice). This power pretty much works like the longsword and the dagger, only that it’s divided up into two attacks at the same time, instead of one powerful attack. It costs 25% of your Attack Bar.

Mace - Fast but not all that powerful, it does, however, have a Prayer bonus and it mainly attacks with crushing attacks. If you fight high leveled monsters using Prayer, this is the weapon for you. Unless that weapon is a dragon. Dragon leather protects well against the crushing attacks, but you can always use the controlled stab attack against them, so this might still come in handy.
Special Attack: A single powerful swing that costs 25% of your Attack Bar, in the same fashion as the longsword.

Most of the text above is just information taken out of the numbers. But how good do they prove to be in actual combat? I took an hour out of my busy life to test that. I spent 15 minutes with each weapon, fighting baby blue dragons (level 43). Here are the results, counted in kills (and time to bury the bones):

  Mace - 33 kills
  Dagger - 34 kills
  Longsword - 36 kills
  Battleaxe - 34 kills

As you can see, it was very close. Sure, some weapons might’ve been lucky, but further testing proved these results to be fairly accurate. Please note that the dagger was not poisoned at the time, so you might want to add one more kill to the dagger’s record.

Another test I’ve done was Longsword vs. Battleaxe in a blue dragon (level 99) killing spree. I drank an attack and strength potion (which increased my Attack from 86 to 97 and Strength from 94 to 106), and then kept count of how many dragons I could kill before the potion affect was gone. Here are the results:

  Longsword - Eight kills
  Battleaxe - Four kills

As it is with these short tests, some of it may be temporary luck, but Hell, twice as many kills with the Longsword? That’s enough for me to sell off those battleaxes right away (well, you might want to keep one for the rare occasions when you need one; PKing in big teams, out of Super Strength Potions, fighting low-leveled NPCs, etc.).

Summary: Prayer fighting (black demons, for an example), use mace in a combination with poisoned dagger (let the demon get poisoned, then you change to the mace to save Prayer points). Ordinary fighting, longsword. High leveled fighting without Prayer, poisoned dagger in a combination with the longsword. PKing, longsword and poisoned dagger (also, don’t waste your super potions on people who are fighting dragons in the wilderness with robes on, they will run. Stab them in the back).

Q: When should I use my Dragon Battleaxe?
A: If you are fighting enemies that you can easily one-hit, or perhaps when PKing with a big team. It can also be good for its Special Attack, if you don’t have any potions.

  And finally, a little pricelist:

Dagger: 30,000 in Zanaris (Lost City), pay a diamond to get in. Worth it if you have weapon poison.
Longsword: 100,000 in Zanaris (Lost City), pay a diamond to get in. Worth it.
Battleaxe: 200,000 in Heroes’ Guild. Not worth it.
Mace: 50,000 in Heroes’ Guild. Worth it if you use Prayer a lot.

  Ah, another thing. Dragon Spears.

I haven’t gotten the chance to use one myself yet, seeing as how I’m a poor bastard, but I have the technical information on one. They are rare drops, much like the dragon half shield. A fairly fast and powerful weapon, but with one negative aspect about it — it can only be used for Controlled or Defensive fighting. It has one Defensive option and three Controlled options, but no Accurate or Aggressive ones. It is the ideal weapon for rich people who like to train Defence, though, so if you get one, it might be worth saving. The current price for one is about 3-4,000,000 GP.
A thing I also should mention is that, just as any other spear, the dragon spear is a 2-handed weapon, so you cannot use a shield when wielding it.

Here are the melee weapons in the world of runescape. The other weapons will come up later. If i miss anything, please tell me, thank you. (i know i did not add staff such as the obby maul because there is not a weapon type for it, please do not pm me about this.)

Dagger- The fastest and the weakest weapon, it sucks at f2p because it misses a lot with little damage. However at members world, it becomes the weapon all pkers own. Because the daggers can be poisoned and the dragon dagger’s special attack is very powerful, combine dragon dagger with superpoison, a great weapon.

Rating Free-* Member-*****

Sword- Attacks at a normal speed with normal damage. Reasonable price, focus in stabbing and slashing. A sword does not have a dragon item which make many members loss interest in them. The free players prefer longswords.

Rating Free-* Member-*

Long sword- Speed little bit slower than sword but more powerful. A warrior’s every day’s friend. The dragon long is also among members.

Rating Free-*** Member-***

Scimitar- A weapon with fast speed and normal damage. The rune scimitar is widely used in the free member world for its fast speed and decent damage. In members the scimitar is not that common because the strongest scimitar, dragon scimitar, requires finishing a very difficult quest. When players finish that quest, they usually find themselves can afford better weapons.

Rating Free-***** Member-***

Mace- Mace is a very special weapon because it is the only weapon gives a prayer bonus and one of the two weapon focus on crush attack. It has fast speed with weak damage. The prayer bonus gives prayer longer time to use their prayer and the crush attack gives players better chance to crush through plated armor. However many people ignores it because the bonus is very small and there are better weapons than mace.

Rating Free-* Member-**

War hammer- A very powerful weapon, its brutal attack power is second only to the 2 hand sword. The war hammer is slow but is one handed which means you can use a shield. Also it focuses on crush attack which makes it does more damage on plated warriors. But it is not popular in free world because is slow and many people like battle axe, in members it also unpopular because it does not have a strong weapon.

Rating Free-* Member-*

Battleaxe- A single hand weapon with strong attack, the battleaxe is some what similar to a war hammer except the battleaxe focus on slash attack which can cut robes or leather much quicker so rangers and mages die faster. The battle-axe also has a decent attack bonus on crush attack, which can use on warriors. In members the dragon battle axe’s special ability can greatly enhance a player’s performance.

Spear(members only)- The spear is a very balanced weapon. Its attack bonus and strength are the same. It is 2 handed with normal speed and normal damage. The spear is slow to train attack and strength because three of its four attack style are controlled and the other is defense. However the spear can be poisoned.

Rating Members-*

Claws(members only)- A two hand weapon. Gives fast attack and little damage. It does give a nice defense bonus. Claws are totally worthless compare to other weapons. The only use for it is when it come out, the price is extremely high so if you have a smithing level, you can earn millions in minutes.

2 hand sword- The most powerful and slowest weapon in game, it is 2 handed(duh, obviously right?) it has slash and crush bonus which means it can cut through both warrior’s plate and mages or rangers’ robes or leathers. It is favored by many to pk in free world, in members it is not so popular because it is tooooo slow.

Rating Free-**** Members-*

Halberd(members only weapon)- It has same speed with a 2 hand sword. High attack bonus, the special thing about it is it can attack monsters 2 spaces away. This means players can hide behind an obstacle while safely attack the monster without using food. However, it can only be wield after complete a difficult quest.

Rating Member-***

Runescape Weapons Guide

Posted by coco

There are many skills and over one hundred quests you can do in Runescape - you can make many new friends and have Runescape adventures with your friends. This guide talks about one of the most important features of the game: Runescape combat and its weapons.

Basics of Runescape Combat

First off, there are three main types of combat; Melee, Magic, and Range (archery to some). Some people prefer only one of these skills while others prefer to train up two or all three of the skills. These three types of combat have their own advantages and disadvantages that are represented in the Runescape combat triangle.

The combat triangle is the situation where melee has good defense and offense against Range because arrows easily bounce off that hard, bulky metal and swords can easily cut through soft durable leather. Rangers will have the upper-hand again mages users because arrows can easily pierce those thin robes and magic is deflected against leather and dragon-hide. Magic users (commonly known as mages) will normally be seen trying to fight a warrior because magic can be shot from longer distances than arrows and the armor has a very weak magic defense and is much heavier than the light robes that mages where allowing them to run for longer. All types of combat also have their own styles to use for accurate, aggressive, or defensive measures.

Best Runescape Weapons

What people perceive to be the “best Runescape weapons” largely comes down to personal preference and also depends on how much you play Runescape training your combat and what sort of stats your characters has which can vary greatly from player to player. More attacks and weapons can be used the higher your level in a particular combat skill. Let’s start with melee:

Runescape Melee Weapons

First time fighters will have level one attack. This is the only skill required for wielding weapons, but people try to raise their strength, or they will only hit low amounts of damage. At level one attack you can wield only bronze and iron weapons. Both are very inexpensive, but at the same time are not very good weapons.

  • At level five attack, you will find you can now wield some stronger steel weapons. These are still quite inexpensive.
  • At level 10 attack, the black weapons are opened up to you. These are the first of two metal weapons (and the only free member weapon) that can’t be made using the smithing skill. While inexpensive, they are harder to find as few stores sell black items.
  • At level 20 you can use the mithril (also known as “mith”) weapons! These are sometimes the last type of weapon in a store, but some won’t stop here. Still not expensive, but they are not cheap either for beginning players.
  • At level 30 you can use adamant (also know as “addy”) swords and the like. Addy weapons are more expensive for some players and are the last free member (F2P) weapons sold in normal stores.
  • Once you have reach level 40 attack and can use the best Runescape free to play weapons - Rune! Rune weapons are quite expensive and there is only one shop that sells them in free member, the champions guild which is south-west of Varrock. They can also be bought from other players and be smithed by high level smithers.

The best weapon in Runescape for free members is Rune scimitars (also known as “scimmys”). These scimitars are fast and accurate yet still relatively powerful. Some people also prefer two-handers (aka “2h”) – this weapon that cannot be used with a shield as they require two hand to wield so they leave you slightly more prone to damage and they are fairly inaccurate yet they make up for all this by packing a big punch. Other people often like to opt for the battle axe (also know as a “baxe”). These weapons are stronger but slower than the scimitar, yet and are faster but weaker than the two-hander. They can also be used with a shield.

Runescape Range Weapons

Range is the simplest combat form, the least expensive, and the fastest and most accurate. All you need is a bow and arrows and it requires two hands. At different levels of range you can use different bows and arrows. There are long bows and short bows. Short bows are preferred as they are faster and more lightweight while the longbow can shoot farther distances. There are also crossbows and their bolts which I will go over later.

  • At level one range you can use a normal short or long bow and bronze or iron arrows.
  • At level 5 range you can use oak bows and steel arrows.
  • At level 20 range you can use willow bows and mithril arrows.
  • At level 30 you can use maple bows and adamant arrows. These are the highest range weapons you can use as a free member.
  • For level 40 range you are allowed to use yew bows and rune arrows.
  • At 50 range you can use magic bows and any arrows.

An alternative to wooden bows and arrows, you can use crossbows and bolts. Their advantage is being one handed, meaning you can use a shield. The disadvantage is being slower, heavier, and harder to make. Free members can only use two crossbows, the regular crossbow and the phoenix crossbow, both requiring level one range and only being able to use bronze bolts. Bolts can also be fitted with gem tips.Paying members (P2P) can use bronze crossbows at level one. From there:

  • Blurite crossbows and bolts can be used at level 16 range.
  • At 26 range, iron crossbows and bolts can be used.
  • The Dorgeshuun crossbow requires 28 range and can use bone and iron bolts with out gem tips.
  • At 31 range, the steel crossbow and bolts can be acquired.
  • Mithril crossbows and bolts are used at level 36 range.
  • Once 46 range, a ranger can use adamant crossbows and arrows.
  • Finally, the rune crossbow and bolts can be used once level 61 range.

Most rangers use the best bow they can use at their range level. The arrows they use depend on how much money they want to spend buying or making them. Most people training prefer iron and steel arrows, but while “player-killing” (also known as Runescape Pking), most rangers will use the best arrows they can.

Runescape Magic Weapons

Probably the most favored combat skill for player-killing and quite complex for the game of Runescape. While magic can be used for fighting, it can also be used for other uses such as teleporting, changing the appearance of some items, helping others, and much more! While there are no magic level requirements for using different magical objects, you need magic levels to use different spells. Since this guide is about combat and weapons, we will only go over spells and items that can be used to fight:

Runescape Staffs

Magic only requires one hand so a shield can be wielded. You can buy staffs in staff shops or from other people. The staffs are Battlestaff (P2P), Staff, Magic Staff, Elemental Staffs (Air, Water, Earth, Wind, and Fire; have unlimited amount of runes for the type of staff it is, e.g. fire staffs have unlimited amounts of fire runes) Lava Battlestaff (has unlimited amounts of earth and fire runes and is P2P), and the Mud Battlestaff (unlimited water and earth runes and is P2P). Staffs can be used for melee but are very weak. Battlestaffs are much stronger for melee. All staffs can be set to auto-cast spells.

Runescape Runes

Runes can be bought from magic stores, other players, or made. Most runes are for F2P and include Elemental runes, body runes, mind runes, cosmic runes, chaos runes, nature runes, death runes, and law runes. P2P runes also include blood runes, soul runes, astral runes (required for lunar magic, which we will go over later), and combination runes; a mixture of two elemental runes (thus saving an inventory space). The only runes not used for some type of fighting are nature, astral, and law runes. The runes required to attack and do damage to other players includes mind runes (strikes), chaos runes (bolts), death runes (blasts), and blood runes (waves).

Runescape Magic Spells

  • Strikes are the weakest of the spells. You need to be level 13 magic to use all the strike; air being weakest, then water, earth, and fire being the strongest.
  • Bolts are slightly stronger and used more for training. At level 35 magic, all bolts can be used.
  • Blasts – Blasts are the strongest F2P spells and all of them can be used at level 59 magic.
  • Waves – The strongest of the spells for normal magic, all waves can be used at level 75 magic.

Different Types of Runescape Magic

There are 3 different types of magic – Normal (F2P), Ancient Magicks (P2P), and Lunar (P2P). Normal magic is the starter magic and is used for aggressive and non-aggressive uses. Ancient Magicks requires a quest and is more aggressive with a few teleports. These spells are very strong, but also quite expensive in runes. Lunar Magics also requires a skills but is has no aggressive attacks and even has spells to help other people! It requires astral runes for all spells.

Runescape Special Weapons – Dragon Weapons

Dragon weapons, and almost all special weapons, are P2P only. All Dragon weapons require a quest to acquire them and level 60 attack to equip them. They are red in color and have their own special attacks. Special attacks can be used by clicking the fighting style menu and highlighting the green bar at the bottom. When in combat, you will use that items special ability and drain part of your special energy bar. When your bar is empty, special attacks can no longer be used until the bar has recharged.

Other special Runescape weapons include:

  • Abbysal Whip - transfers 10% of your opponents energy to you.
  • Granite Maul – Instantly attacks enemy even if you just attacked them
  • Excalibur – Raises your defense temporarily by 10%
  • Seercullbow – Inflicts damage plus reduces the magic level by the number of damage inflicted
  • Darklight – Reduces an opponent’s attack, strength, and defense
  • Magic Longbow- An accurate shot that will definitely inflict damage
  • Magic Shortbow – Two quick arrow shots, but will hit with less accuracy
  • Crystal Bow – Does not have a special attack but is 80% more accurate than a magic longbow and hits higher than rune arrows and it does not use ammo
  • Rune Throwing Axes – Will hit many enemies in a multi-combat zone
  • Rune Claws – Temporarily increases strength and attack for that hit, but slower
  • Rod of Ivandis – Captures a Vampyre Juvinate that has low health (1/3), allowing you to use a Guthix Balance potion on it
  • Bone Dagger – Lowers opponents defence by the amount of damage you inflict. Has a very good chance of hitting an unsuspecting opponent
  • Dorgeshuun Crossbow – Same as bone dagger
