Have you have ever heard the term “Runescape Macros”? How about, “Runescape Bots”? They have many names, but they are all the same. Although I know exactly what a macro is in Runescape, I thought I would do some research and see what a macro was outside of Runescape.

Macroing in Runescape:
Basically, when you use a Runescape bot, you are using a program that will play the game for you. There are many different types of these, such as; Mining Bots, Woodcutting Bots, Attacking Bots, but they all do the same thing, get levels. This is against the rules of Runescape. Jagex bans thousands of accounts a month due to these cheats. I cannot tell people enough, cheating is NOT the answer. If people would just do the work themselves, then there would be no problem.

Macroing outside of Runescape:
As I promised, I researched and this is what I found; “A macro is a way to automate a task that you perform repeatedly or on a regular basis. It is a series of commands and actions that can be stored and run whenever you need to perform the task. You can record or build a macro, and then play the macro to automatically repeat the series of commands or actions.”

Therefore, the reason we have macros for Runescape is… The game is built to where you have to do repetitive actions to gain levels. Scripter’s realized this, and decided that it sounded like a job for a macro. Now you have many of these macros out there.

Risks of using a Macro in Runescape:
Using a Macro in Runescape is just asking for a ban. These programs are EASILY detectable, and when you are caught using one, Jagex will show no mercy. They feel strongly that cheating is bad, and so do I. It is just so much easier to mine the ore yourself. Then, you do not have the risk of loosing your account. That should be enough of a reason in itself. Its not? Well, then let me give you some MORE reasons;

Let’s say that everyone in Runescape just up and decided to use these cheats. Let’s also say that Jagex did not care what so ever and let it happen. In about a month, everyone would have level 99 everything. Prices would drop dramatically because there would be so much of a surplus. Such as, one player would own 100M of Dragon Longswords. Tell me, would the game be fun anymore? For the first few days maybe? After that, it would get boring. There would be no point in using your skills because, everyone else would have it as well. What’s the point of dueling, everyone is the same!

So now, you understand why Jagex does not allow these macros. In fact, on January, 19, 2006 Jagex banned over 15,000 Runescape accounts due to this. They also have a system that detects any OTHER accounts used by the player. This prevents them from making a throwaway account that they do not care about. Do not think that you can cheat and it not affects your other accounts.

Runescape Rare Items have gripped the Runescape economy and in a way are like the equivalent coastline real estate of real world. Why do I compare Runescape rare items to that of coast line or beach front real estate? Well because like beach front real estate there is a very limited quantity available in good locations and there definitely isn’t more of it going on the market. Runescape rare items are the same, and their value is skyrocketing, and with every passing month the value of such rare items is increasing.
Why Are Runescape Rare Items So Expensive?
Well because back in 2001 and 2002 when these items were dropped they were dropped in a fashion that allowed them to be tradable. Yet they were only dropped brief period in time, the specific holiday that the item was created for. This of course meant that for any players that weren’t playing on that particular day and wasn’t able to pick one of these rare holiday items up it meant that they had to buy one off another player. This meant that there was an active supply and demand for these holiday items like party hats, santa hats, Halloween masks etc.

Now it is basic economics that price generally equals the equilibrium point where supply meets demand. So if supply equals demand then this explains why are the prices of Runescape rare items are so high. See the supply of the these Runescape rare items is essentially fixed or decreasing, meaning that with ever passing month the supply for these rare items is actually decreasing. Why? Well because every time someone with one of these rare holiday items quits Runescape without selling or trading their rare item away that is another rare item that leaves the market which means there are less Runescape rare items to be purchased and therefore this reduces supply and pushes prices up.

Now in addition to there being continual pressure on prices to increase due to the decrease in supply there is also an additional force on the demand side again further pushing the prices of such Runescape rare items up. So what is the future for such Runescape rare items? Well one would think that the price would continue to go up, maybe not as fast as it traditionally has been rising, due to the fact that prices are extremely high at the moment and well out of the reach of the HUGE majority of Runescape players. So is there any potential for prices of Runescape rare items to drop? Well the only three circumstances that I can envisage a drop in Runescape rare prices would be in the following cases; someone manages to create another Runescape item duplicator which would again force prices of rare items down quite sharply. I couldn’t predict the likelihood of something like this happening again in the future but I would imagine it would be quite low. Secondly the prices of such rare items would plummet if Jagex made the announcement that all discontinued items would be removed from the game. I don’t know how quickly prices would plummet but I’d imagine that you would probably see the prices drop to a few thousand Runescape gold very quickly, but I don’t think Jagex would do this because they would probably lose around 20% of players doing it. The third way I envisage that the prices of Runescape rare items would drop would be if the popularity of Runescape itself would drop creating a situation where the number of people demanding such items would drop and as long as the number of Runescape rare items available to purchase doesn’t drop this should bring around a corresponding price drop in the Runescape rare items market.

If you’re saving up for a Runescape rare item then best of luck and I highly recommend you start saving now and work as quickly as you can because otherwise you may lose your battle against Runescape’s inflation.

In Runescape, there are many monsters that you can train your attack on. The monster that you want to kill decides where to train at. You cannot first pick the place and then start fighting, because you might end up with a monster that is 40 levels above you. You need to train your attack on a monster that is of a low level, gives a fair amount of experience, and does not hit hard. I suggest fighting Goblins.

You can kill about six of them in the time it takes to kill a Minotaur. Almost every time, faster is better. Because if you can kill say, 10 of one monster that gives you 5 experience every time you kill it, as opposed to killing 2 of these monsters for only 15 each, your going to go with the Goblins. That’s 50 experience for the first monster, and only 30 for the second. This means more experience in the same amount of time.

More experience means faster levels, and I have not met a person who does not want to level up fast. In fact, most people cannot level up fast enough! A lot of people want all the rewards without the hard work, and that is why we have macros in Runescape. My advice is to find a good monster to train on, and just keep training. Yes, it will be boring, but in the end its worth it when you get to wield that Dragon Long Sword. Haha, Happy Playing!

The Runescape Assist System

Controls - The Assist System

The Assist System is a game feature that lets you use someone else’s skill levels temporarily to make items. In exchange, the person assisting you will earn the experience for standing around while you work. The advantage of this is that you will get to do things for yourself without items ever leaving your inventory.

If you want assistance

Previously, if you had a Smithing level of 42 and you wanted a steel platebody (requiring a Smithing level of 48) you could ask a friend with a high enough Smithing level to make it for you, giving them the steel bars and waiting for them to smith it and give you the armour. With the Assist System, on the other hand, you can simply ask your friend to assist you and do the job yourself.

To request assistance from another player, right-click on them to bring up the options (as shown to the left). Selecting the ‘Req Assist’ option will send them a request for assistance.

If you are assisting someone

If you are assisting someone, it allows you to relax and chat to friends while earning experience! Should you receive a request for assistance and wish to help out, simply click on the request in your chat window to begin. This will open a window showing your assist options:

The skills shown are those that you can choose to assist in. You’ll notice that there are no options to assist with combat skills: this is for your own protection - while you are assisting you cannot move or work on skills yourself.

To begin assisting, select the skill or skills you wish to help the other player with by clicking on its name or icon. This will highlight them in the interface as shown below:

You will now assist the other player in those skills for as long as the skill is highlighted. They will be able to do anything in those skills that you can do provided they have the necessary tools and resources (e.g. willow logs and a knife for Fletching willow longbows). If you assist a player in a skill that they do not need help with (because they already have a high enough level), you will not receive experience for it.

Because you can control which of your skills you can assist someone with, you do not need to worry about getting experience in any skills you don’t want to gain experience in.

Notes

You should be aware that there are a few exceptions and restrictions in the Assist System.

•You can earn a maximum of 30,000 experience in any 24-hour period by assisting people.
•You cannot assist someone with a quest, an Achievement Diary (they will not be able to mark a task complete if they were assisted in this way) or a minigame.
•When assisting someone with Magic, they will only be able to use the ‘Enchant spells’ and skill-based Lunar spells. They cannot use your level to teleport, fight, etc.
If you are being assisted, a convenient icon will display in the bottom-right corner of your game window.

To control who can ask for assistance, you can right-click on the Assist button. You can then set it to ‘On’, ‘Friends’ or ‘Off’.

Bounty Locate and VineSweeper

Bounty Locate Spell:

It became clear that the Bounty Locate spell was being used as a way to escape from combat in Bounty Hunter. This was never our intention and made it harder to get bounty rewards, so we have altered the spell. If you are in combat, you will run or walk towards your target rather than teleport there. You will still teleport to your target if you are not currently in combat.

Also, the Bounty Locate spell will no longer work if you are ‘held’ by another spell - Ice Barrage or Entangle, for example.

These changes are effective immediately.

Vinesweeper:

Having read your Forum posts, we felt that the rewards for Vinesweeper needed to be more worthwhile than they currently are. This enjoyable minigame is now having a shrewd eye cast over it. We plan to update the XP and seed rewards, amongst other Vinesweeper changes, next week.

We recommend that you keep hold of your Vinesweeper points until these changes have been made. We don’t want to stop you playing the minigame; after all, we are not changing the amount of points you can earn - only what they are worth.

We also plan to make the rascally rabbits a little easier to deal with. Currently, they are too fast to be effectively stopped and will often eat your seeds before you can deploy an ogleroot.

To clarify, all of these Vinesweeper changes, and a few more, will be made next week.

Stronghold of Player Safety

All About the Armors

Now that you know that Trimmed Armors are the rare rewards from Treasure Trails, you probably want to know a little more about them. There are 3 different types of Trimmed Armor, each one made out of one type of metal, with a special trimming around it:

(T) - This means that the armor is trimmed or Tinted in a lighter shade of metal than the main armor.

(G) - This is also known as gold or Gilded armor, meaning that the main piece of armor is trimmed in gold.

Agility is a skill that when leveled up allows you to access new areas, use shortcuts throughout the world of Runescape, and be able to run longer without running out of energy. This is the method I found to be most effective.

Level 1-25

This part is sorta boring because you have to do a lot of training before you can access new areas. This part of the training doesn’t have a lot of options for training methods either. I went to the Tree Gnome Stronghold and used the agility there until I hit level 25. This part is kinda boring so listen to some music or keep yourself entertained somehow.

Level 25-35

For this part you will now have access to a few shortcuts and so on. by using shortcuts is rather slow at this level and so I would use this way I am about to show you. The Werewolf Agility Course is located in a small shack with a werewolf in it. It is in the Haunted Forest just southeast of Canifis. To enter you need a Ring of Charos(otherwise the werewolves don’t like you) which is obtained by doing Creature of Frekenstrain quest) and at least level 25 agility. There is a course for level 60 but we’re not there yet. Talk to the Skullball Boss to begin a round of Skullball.

Skullball

Skullball is done by kicking a skull through goals (skeleton legs) and completing a whole lap around scoring on each goal (the track is shaped like a big circle). You have the option on “tap”, “kick”, “shoot”, or “show-goal”. Tap moves the ball 1 space, kick moves it 5, shoot moves it 10, and show-goal points out the goal to be scored upon on your mini-map. If I have observed correctly, I believe that passing through a goal or hitting a wall reduces the amount of spaces the ball will move by 1 space. If you get stuck in a corner, try rebounding the ball off the wall into open space. Finish the course by kicking the ball into a small hole in the wall at the end of the track. You will be given experience depending on your time. The most possible experience is 750 and the average time for people is generally 3-4 minutes. The longer you take after a certain time (I think 4 minutes) the more your experience reward is reduced.

Level 35

Congratulations you’ve made it here. You can now try out places like the Barbarian Course and as you probably realized at level 30, you can go to places like the Penguin Course and Agility Pyramid (some of these have requirements to participate). Have a good time running around for a lot longer than everybody else!
