Since the start of Runescape more and more items have been added to the game. Currently there are thousands and thousands of Runescape items. Like any game, some items are more valuable than others and because of this a whole market for Runescape items has been created. The trading and collecting of Runescape items has become one of the more fun things to do in Runescape.

When you go out and play the game you’ll soon realize that certain items are trading for millions of Runescape gold. Why is this? This is because of rare Runescape items, there is only a limited number of them. The most rare items are the Holidays Drops, these are items that Jagex (the company behind Runescape) has leaves in the game every major holiday. For Christmas, Easter and Halloween items like masks and hats are spread out for free across Runescape worlds in different locations and people could only collect them on that specific day. Because of this these items have become more and more rare over the years. Runescape rare items often cost millions and millions of Runescape gold.

Though at one time in the game, still in the first version of Runescape, the market for rare items crashed. All off a sudden there were loads of rare items like Runescape pink party hats available. What happened? Someone had created a program based on a mistake in Runescape to duplicate items. The Runescape Item Duplicator was born and led to the market being flooded with rare items. The prices soon dropped of these items and Jagex noticed what was going on. They found the glitch in their system and they fixed it. Since Runescape 2 there have been no instances of Runescape Item Duplicators.

If you don’t have millions of Runescape gold but are dying to get a hold of one of these rare items there is a way. There are stores online which sell them for real money, Runescape Gold Stores. However it is really important to know this kind of trading is against the rules of Runescape and Jagex forbids it. So if you do decide to do this be sure to know this and also that there are many players who save up months for these items. Often by the time they have saved enough gold the prices have gone up though. The Runescape rare items market is a good one to be in if you have enough gold because prices just seem to continue to rise.

What not to do! Don’t be a Runescape item beggar! Throughout Runescape there are a lot of players who go around and beg for free Runescape items. It’s not only annoying to the other players but it also takes the fun out of the game. So if you have a rare Runescape item like a santa hat that you can wear do know that when you wear it, it draws a lot of attention to you. This attention means that more and more Runescape players will come and beg to you for free items.

Sleeping bags and pickaxes

Sleeping bags and pickaxes

Today’s update adds the much requested sleeping bags to RuneScape! These allow you to quickly recover your fatigue without having to walk all the way to a bed. Now you can finally pull those all-nighter fishing sessions you’ve been dreaming of.
As well as adding a touch of realism to the game, the fatigue system is also designed to stop people cheating using macro software. To wake-up from your slumber you will therefore have to answer a very simple challenge which should be easy to answer, but hard for cheats to automate.

This will make things much more difficult for all those cheaters who’ve been trying to ruin the game for everyone else. To ensure maximum protection we’ve also adjusted fatigue slightly so you get VERY SMALL amounts of fatigue on other skills. However it literally only takes a few seconds to recover using a sleeping bag, so this really shouldn’t impact on the game negatively.

Sleeping bags are on sale at all General Stores throughout RuneScape.

We’ve also made some changes to the mining system.

a) Since fatigue is now extremely easy to recover we’ve also put the rocks back to how they were before we changed them. Hard/soft-rocks don’t make much sense now fatigue is so much easier to recover.

b) We’ve added another much requested feature - different types of pickaxes! These take the repetative clicking out of mining with rune-pickaxes hitting the rock 12 times per click!

c) We have kept the ores showing up as different colours in the rocks, so you don’t waste time mining empty rocks.

Please may I ask that everyone tries this new system properly BEFORE commenting on it this time (e.g wait at least 24 hours before sending us feedback). Feedback from players who haven’t actually used the system they are commenting on, is obviously utterly useless to us.

Runescape Santa Hats

Posted by coco

The Runescape santa hats were the final of the Runescape rare items to be dropped as a holiday item. These santa hats were dropped for Christmas of 2002 and were like the masks in that people were well aware at this stage as to just how valuable these santa hats would become in the future and as such people again began collecting and hording them from the outset. Today these Runescape santa hats are the popularly traded Runescape rare item and of all the rare items available they are in the highest quantity still remaining in the game.

There is one, and only one, real way to make money on Runescape: by getting and selling stuff. The more expensive the item, the more its worth. Pretty much anything you can find and have on Runescape can be sold. An item on Runescape can be worth 1 coin, or MILLIONS of coins.

Unfortunately, to be able to obtain items worth millions, or even thousands, you have to build skills, and you’ll need… coins! Everyone has to start somewhere, and the best way to start is by getting free stuff and than selling it. You can even save money if you just know where to look to get what you need for free.

Well, hopefully you won’t have to look too far. At least this article will make it easier for you to find ways to get free stuff.

Beg
Though this is the lowest thing to do out of the ways, it can work if you do it right. Begging requires patience, and the appearance of being poor, or a noob. Either one will be sympathized, usually. Here are some tips on begging:

  • Dress in noob clothes and if you are a very low level, act like you’re new to the game. (being a level 3 works best)
  • Act like you just died. It happens to everyone. Say you lost almost everything.
  • The best begging spot is Lumbridge, because that’s where newbies begin and where dead people start all over again.
  • Find a world that has a good amount of people, but it’s not overcrowded with newbies/beggars
  • Don’t spam. Plea for money or stuff once a minute.
  • Always accept whatever is given to you and say thanks! If it’s junk than just sell it at a general store.

Find Drop Parties
A drop party is a simple idea. A group of people, or one person, drops random crap on the ground. What’s an even simpler idea is how to get free stuff out of it! The types of items dropped in a drop party vary in value, but almost all of the time they are useful and can be sold for money! Drop parties are extremely easy to find: go to an overpopulated, crowded, bank. Just be in a fairly populated world and head over to Varrock, you’ll have no problem finding a crowded bank there!

If you don’t feel like fighting or working for free stuff, than just find drop parties. Drop parties aren’t made for everyone though, it requires a bit of time, patience and skill. Here are some tips to help you get the most out of drop parties:

  • You’ll be looking for someone yelling “Drop Party!!!” or something like that. If you find someone that says that, STALK THEM.
  • Once you have a target, watch the ground beneath them at all times. You have to be quick if you want to be able to get something.
  • Stand in the same spot as them. That way you don’t have to run across the room to try and be the first one to pick up what they dropped.
  • When you see something hit the ground, click click click! Chances are you are competing with other people, and the person that dropped stuff dropped more than one thing.

Kill
Ah, you didn’t think I would forget the most gruesome way of all to get free stuff, did ya? You can’t go through Runescape without killing SOMETHING. Fact: Everything you kill in Runescape drops something. Even if it’s just some bones or feathers. (People buy those too, you know?)

There are two types of things you can kill to get stuff for free: Computers or other players.
Computers- I don’t literally mean computers running around Runescape. Anything that’s not controlled by another player, is just a free roaming CPU. Goblins, cows, dragons, farmers, are all CPUs. Most of them you can kill too. (Oh I wish I could kill Romeo…) It would take me forever to cover each type of CPU that you could kill and what they drop, so explore for yourself to see. If you are a low level/beginner, I recommend killing goblins. They roam all around Lumbridge, especially behind the General store. They are fairly easy to kill, and they drop really good beginner items, like bronze shields and swords, and goblin armor that sells for around 17 GP in the General store. Of course, as you become stronger and can fight harder creatures, they’ll drop more valuable items.

Other Players- If you venture into the wilderness or other various parts that warns you you’re about to step into an area where other players can attack you, be careful. It’s a dangerous, hectic, place and the chances of being attacked out of nowhere and dying are great. In fact, you’ll probably be fired at within your first five steps upon entering the wilderness. You have to be strong, with a good range of fighting skills, heavily armored, and fast! If you decide to do this, bring lots of food with you, you’ll need it. The good thing about fighting other players is they’ll drop really good and valuable stuff, since you only keep three items when you die.

Get It Yourself!
The reason for having so many different types of skills you can work on is so that you can get what you need by getting it yourself. Need willows for fletching? Go cut down some willows! Need some food? Go fish or cook! Need armor? Well, go make it than! If you are rich and would prefer just to take the easy way out, than go ahead and buy the things you need. But, if you’re at the other end, you are going to need to get most of the things you need for free because you can’t afford it. If you are looking just to make money, than choose a skill that you like and are good at and do it. Whether it’s armor, arrows, wood, or food, you can sell it to other players for money.

Free runescape items - Bank

Steal (Members Only)
If you’re a member, you should definitely spend some time working on your Thieving skill. You can steal stuff that you don’t normally find from CPU drops, but don’t want to spend money on it either. Things like wine, seeds, food and weapons. All useful things that you can either use for yourself or sell for money. Just be ready to fight the Guards that protect the stalls if they catch you!

See, there are plenty of ways to get free items on Runescape. You don’t have to pay for everything! If you want to be able to get around Runescape, than you are going to have to hunt for free items.

Runescape Item Duplicator

Posted by coco

Runescape item duplicators. A dream come true, yes? Well – let me tell you one thing, there is no such thing. There never has been. All those who claim to have one are lying, and if they say there are item duplicators, there aren’t – their just a nasty thing called Spyware. Spyware is used to steal information from your computer. So they can take anything from your Runescape username and password to your credit card details – so beware.

DON’T “PURCHASE” AN ITEM DUPLICATOR OR LOOK FOR ONE, REMEMBER, THERE’S NO SUCH THING.

If you have a mate that claims that he has an item duplicator, laugh in his face, and wish him good luck – his character along with other things is about to go soon.

It would be a good to let your friends or people you know who play Runescape who think that there’s such thing as an item duplicator to tell them that there is no such thing. Tell them not to go searching for one either – IT’S DANGEROUS FOR THEM TO DO SO.

Jagex has been clever with how the make Runescape, I don’t think they’ll allow a loophole within the game to even allow item duplication to become a reality, and anyone claiming to have a successful working duplicator is a liar and a thief.

While were talking about dangers with keeping your account safe, we might as well go over Runescape “Item” services or the like. There are many sites out there who claim to be able to give you an abundance of wealth and items. All you have to do is enter your username and password into their site, yea, right, don’t be a fool and do this, only enter your username and password into RUNESCAPE.COM and no other site whatsoever.

Another danger with some players is that they’ll receive an e-mail from someone who claims to be from the Runescape Staff, asking for their username and password. This is also a scam. The Runescape Staff will never have to ask for your username and password, and never will. It’s just someone trying to be clever and get your username and password to take your account – so beware.

General message of this article, beware of all the scams that aren’t just in-game, they are a real threat to your account. Remember, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

Runescape Rare Items

Posted by coco

Rare items you say? Yep, it’s true; there are items in Runescape that are very rare and worth millions of gold pieces. Take for example a few years back, when the good old Santa Hats were dropped (believe it or not, I had a character back then). They were being dropped all over the place, and were only worth 30,000 GP each. Now look at them, going for millions!

There were also an abundance of other items dropped on special occasions, for example, Easter Eggs on Easter 2002, and the brilliant Scythe on Halloween 2003. Those were the days…

For the more recent players though, there isn’t going to be a chance to obtain a very valuable item anymore and be able to sell it a few years later. That’s because Jagex have changed the way these holiday items are given out, and I don’t think they’ll carry the same value now as they have been made non-tradeable etc.

(Gosh, this reminds me, I need to figure out the username to my character with the Scythe!)

There isn’t much more to say about Runescape Rare Items really, so here’s a little FAQ:

Q: Will there still be holiday item drops?
A: There aren’t item ‘drops’ exactly. Instead, NPCs are apparently going to visit RuneScape during the holidays and hand out a special item. These characters stay in RuneScape for a week or two and will freely hand out holiday items to any player that wants one.

Q: Why did Jagex stop doing those original drops on holidays?
A: Holiday drops were stopped after the “Halloween 2003 Debacle.” A great deal of people complained about not getting a Halloween Scythe, and Jagex decided not to have another item drop after that.

Q: How do I get a Holiday Item?
A: In order to get a Holiday item, you need to trade from another player. All tradeable holiday items are quite expensive. Scythes and Bunny Ears are not tradeable, and only people who managed to find one on that specific Holiday have one.

Q: What were holiday drops like?
A: In past holidays, special holiday items would be dropped all over RuneScape in random places and different times during the day. Usually there would be several drops, and people would be running around trying to pick one up.

I’m sure Jagex will have their normal events on certain holidays such as Easter and Christmas – enjoy!  May be you can get some fun, exciting items from them.

Skill Gains with Autominers

Posted by amber

 Skill Gains with Autominers

For online players, the impatience of waiting for their characters to achieve skill gains in Runescape may not be as easy as it seems. The normal way is through playing practically 24/7 to be assured of a steady and fast skill gain to be at an advantage over the rest. Come to think of it, how can a player get himself glued towards his monitor while playing Runescape all the time and wait for that coveted skill gain for the entire improvement of his character?

Like most online games, Runescape has its share of talented players that try to find alternative ways such as an automated way of being online without having to be beside the keyboard all the time. By being automated, this means that particular key strokes and mouse clicks are recorded repetitively to achieve the desired skill gains while sitting back and doing something else. For most online games, these are known as macro programs which do the whole process while they are away from the keyboard. In Runescape, this is better known to be the Runescape Autominer, an external program that helps do the repetitive process without the need for a person to be on hand all the time. For skills such as magic, smithing, mining and woodworks, recording the locations of the main menu of the item to be made for a number of instances will surely be a welcome sight to most Runescape addict players who want to increase their desired skill/s.

There are various sites, to which Runescape Autominer can be downloaded such as this site, http://www.powergoldguides.com/runescapebot.html . Also known as Runescape Autobot, there are also the risks of the existence of malware from downloading such free programs. Remember that these were made to help players in enjoying Runescape a whole lot easier, but it cannot be disregarded that some malicious mischief may be involved, more so that it is free. In some scenarios, the existence of key loggers may even go to the extent of hacking Runescape account names and passwords, making the life of a loyal Runescape player worst.

Such cannot be considered a Runescape cheat. For one, the process of achieving skill gain is done the normal way only thing is that it is automated with developed programs such as the Runescape Autominer. However, the newer version of Runescape, Runescape 2 does not oblige to such programs and updated versions of the Runescape Autominer and/ or Runescape Autobot have yet to be known. Being the addicting online game that it is, it will not be surprising when the time comes that Runescape players will be searching for newly developed programs for Runescape 2. But then again, it should be taken into consideration that such free programs should be studied thoroughly for malicious intrusions of personal workstations that are connected through the Internet.

 Runescape Runarounds And Game Exploiters

To date, there is no game that is immediately free from bugs or runarounds with regards to the way the any game is played. For sure, the classification of a certain routine to be legal or an exploit needs to be addressed by the game developers. For one, it is not only the game administrators who have all the answers and the cure for exploits and cheats in Runescape. Much of these come from the players themselves since they are the ones who actually play the game and are exposed to the various activities and encounters that the game provides.

Runescape is more than just a plain kill this and kill that scenario. The common knowledge of killing monsters in the easiest way possible shall always be in the forefront of most players. It would only be a matter of time where Runescape players would follow a certain pattern and technique that will make their adventures and combat tactics a routine one, developing their own styles of playing the game and enjoying it to the fullest.

These scenarios are of course left to the hardcore players who really look at all angles when it comes to online games. Role playing for one will bring out surprising techniques and inputs that allow most Runescape players to maximize and find the easiest way of enjoying the game. Making the game easier allows them to cop rare items, more gold and distinction above all. The latter is the invisible distinction that some players are after. Being the best has its rewards not in the form of items and goods but rather from respect from other players in the game, regardless if they are on the good or evil side.

Studying and implementing such techniques is never easy. Ordinarily, Runescape players would care less about making the game easier as long as they achieve their goal. Some would call these players as the Runescape and online gaming addicts. They are even at times termed as hackers and cheaters, but why call a player such if he is able to discover such so-called glitches to make the game a whole easier. The more if such routines are done legally and without resorting to third party programs that most players apply today.

Third party program development and availability such as macro tools and autoers are only natural to help hone skills and reach the highest possible rating in Runescape. These are not even in the cheating category since the recorded key strokes are similar to having a person behind the keyboard and playing the game all the same. They are purely programs developed to make up for lost time since ideally most players would not log on to Runescape 24/7, considering that they have real life roles to fulfill.

Utilizing The Bank In The Runescape World

In Runescape, there will come a point where the importance of banking and storing items instead of leaving them on your inventory backpack will be appreciated. The bank box is usually provided in areas where the icons are indicated so that a player may make a withdrawal or deposit in terms of gold and items on hand. The bank is the safest place to store items which may evidently get lost should a player be killed anywhere in the world of Runescape.

There are players who do not value the presence of a bank account box assigned to them. For one, beginners will have a hard time finding out where the nearest banking place would be in Runescape as they are usually going around in most places, looking for adventure and things to do. Exploring the world in the early parts of the game and interacting and checking out places and the other characters would be among the immediate tasks that people would usually be tasked to do.

Once a player dies, most items would be lost. Resources, weapons and other acquired items through purchases or trade would be lost in such instances since they go with the dead body of the player wherever they may be. After being killed in the game however, a player is restored to a starting point like towns where he will have to re-purchase the lost items and collect again most of the items he lost.

The matter of security is also another issue for accounts when bank accounts are accessed. This is why it has been spread that no player should reveal his username and password to players or fake administrators who try to teach them some in-game techniques and secrets, much of which are scams. Such a practice is rampant in Runescape, and hence the continuous reminders by Runescape and its administrators to be aware of such pranks which could be done to them at any time.

It is recommended to store the special items that will not be of use to a player in their banks. Losing them may be something that a player would regret and dampen morale and spirits when playing the game. Such would only be natural considering that saving all items for the proper moment in the game will be lost once players fail to realize the value of such.

Such issues have their own impact on the players. Some would evidently just leave these items in their bank accounts, while for others, it is better to use them than not to have used them at all. For the latter, the risk is higher since he would not know what lies ahead on his journey. Whatever the case, it would all depend on how valuable such items would be and their use as well when it comes to storing them in the bank box or just having them handy in their inventory pack in Runescape.
