Map of The Main Quest Area

Getting Started

First off, head to Lumbridge Castle. A quick way to get to Lumbridge is by using the Lumbridge Home Teleport spell. Inside, there should be staircases at the back. Climb up one of them and you should arrive on another floor. One of the rooms should contain Duke Horacio. Talk to him and ask him if he has any quests for you. He will tell you about a strange talisman he found and ask you to deliver it to Sedridor, the Head Wizard at the Wizards’ Tower. Accept his request and he will give you an Air Talisman.

Sedridor

Head to the Wizards’ Tower, just southwest of Lumbridge and directly south of Draynor Village. When you arrive there, enter the western room with ladders in it. Climb the ladder leading downstairs. You should spot Sedridor nearby. Speak to him and tell him that you’re looking for the Head Wizard. He’ll say that he is and ask you to give the Air Talisman to him. Hand it over to him and he will be stunned. He’ll give you a Research Package and tell you to give it to Aubury, located in the Rune shop in Varrock, to the northeast.

Note: If you happen to lose the Research Package, just ask Sedridor for another.

Aubury

Head off to the Varrock Rune shop. Once you arrive there, speak to Aubury. Tell him you’ve been sent to deliver something to him and he’ll ask you to let him study the Research Package. Speak to him again and he will give you some Research Notes.

Note: If you happen to lose the Research Notes, just ask Aubury for another.

Head back to the Wizards’ Tower and speak to Sedridor again. Give him the research notes and he will start talking about a new skill you can use, Runecrafting.

A Ghost in the Graveyard

Begin your quest by making your way to the Lumbridge Church, just east of Lumbridge Castle. Basically all you need to do is use your Lumbridge Home Teleport spell in you spellbook to arrive in Lumbridge. You won’t be able to use this spell if you have already done so in the last half hour. Once in Lumbridge, go outside of the castle’s courtyard and look for the church near the river. In the church, you will find Father Aereck, speak with him.

Tell him you’re in search of a quest. He’ll tell you you’re lucky, as he needs someone to do a quest for him. Now tell him you want to help. He’ll then tell you the problem; apparently there’s a ghost in the church graveyard, and he wants you to get rid of it. He also mentions that if you need any help, you should go visit Father Urnhey, Father Aereck’s friend, in Lumbridge Swamp. You should be able to find his house in the western depths of the swamp, near the coastline.

Now exit the castle and go south into the church graveyard. Exit the graveyard to the south and you’ll be in the general area of the swamp. Just follow the edge of the swamp all the way around. Don’t go in it or you may get confused. If you just walk along the edge of the swamp you should eventually run into Father Urhney’s shed on the west side of the swamp.

Once you’re there, speak to Father Urhney. At first he’ll demand you leave because he is meditating. Just tell him Father Aereck sent you. This will get him to talk to you, and he’ll ask you what problem Father Aereck got himself into this time. Tell him he has a ghost haunting his graveyard. Since Father Urhney vowed never to leave his shed until he had done a full two years of prayer and meditation, you’ll have to do it. He’ll give you an amulet. It’s an Amulet of Ghostspeak, and when you wear it you can speak to ghosts. He’ll tell you that many ghosts are doomed to be ghosts because they left an important task unfinished. He says your best bet is to try and find out what the ghost’s task was.

Note: If you happen to lose your Amulet of Ghostspeak, you can get another one from Father Urhney.

A Ghost’s Skull

Now head back to the church graveyard and enter the small shack with a coffin in it. Open the coffin and the ghost will come flying out. Speak with the ghost.

The ghost will be shocked that you can understand him. Confirm that you CAN understand him and want to know what the problem is. Eventually he’ll tell you that he thinks he is doomed to be a ghost because a warlock once came along and stole his skull. He’ll tell you he thinks it was one of the warlocks who live in a big tower by the sea southwest of your current location. You’ll tell him you are going to get his skull back.

Now head all the way back to Father Urhney’s house. Except this time, don’t go in it, just walk right past it. From his house, just keep following the coastline west. Doing this will eventually lead you into a path that leads on to a bridge, go on the bridge. At the other end of the bridge is Wizard’s Tower, the big tower the ghost was talking about.

Enter the tower and climb down the ladder to find yourself in the basement. Enter the southeast room. Look for the altar with a skull on it. When you search the altar, a level 13 Skeleton will attack you, so be prepared. The skull should be in your inventory, so just run away. If the skull is on the ground because you had no inventory space, you can easily pick it up and the skeleton will stop attacking you. You can then go back to the Restless Ghost’s coffin. However, if you feel like finishing off the skeleton, you may.

Once you’re at the coffin, open it. Simply use the skull on the coffin to put it in. The Ghost will thank you and a cutscene will start, in which he is released. Congratulations! Quest Complete!

Rewards

Amulet of Ghostspeak - If you happen to lose yours, you may get another one from Father Urhney for free.
The ability to change your gravestone by talking to Father Aereck.

Pirate’s Treasure

Posted by runescapecoin

Start: Talk to Redbeard Frank, located in Port Sarim, about treasure.
Skills: The ability to kill a level 4 Gardener.
Quests: None!
What You Need: At least 90gp, a bottle of Karamja Rum, White Apron, Chest Key, and a Spade.

Scroll down to the end of the guide to find a ‘Fast Quest Walkthrough’.

——————————————————————————–

Getting Started

First, talk to Redbeard Frank about any treasure he may know about. Usually he can be found near the Rusty Anchor Bar in Port Sarim, and he says that he will tell you about treasure if you get him some Karamja Rum. So, travel along the walkway and talk to either of the 3 sailors near the boat. When they ask if you want to take a trip to Karamja for 30gp, say yes.

Getting the Rum

Once on Karamja, follow the dirt road until you reach the bar owned by Zambo. Speak with him and buy some Karamja Rum for 30gp. Now, you need to smuggle the Rum off of the island because the Customs Officer will not allow you to bring it to the mainland.

Head back down the road and talk to Luthas, the banana plantation owner about a job. He says that he will pay you 30gp for each crate of bananas you fill up. Pick about 10 bananas from the trees behind his house, and then walk up to the crate on the other side of the building. Now use the Karamja Rum with the crate to store it, and then pack the crate with bananas.

Talk to Luthas again to collect 30gp, and then leave the island by speaking to the Customs Officer and letting her check you for anything you shouldn’t have with you. Once you’re off of the island, go to Wydin’s Grocery Store and try to get into the back room. Ask him for a job, and he says that you need a White Apron to work for him. You can find one hanging up on a hook behind the counter of the Fishing Shop (next door to the Grocery Store). Go into the back room and search the crate in the middle of the floor for the Rum.

The Pirate’s Treasure

Bring the Rum back to Redbeard Frank, who gives you a Chest Key. He says that there’s a chest upstairs in the Blue Moon Inn, so head to Varrock. Upstairs in the pub is a chest, and after unlocking it with the key you should find a Pirate Message that reads “Visit the city of the White Knights, in the park Saradomin points to the X which marks the spot.” It looks like we’re going to Falador.

You’re going to need a Spade to dig up the buried treasure, and you can find one in the small house just east of the Furnace in Falador. In the garden you will see a statue of Saradomin pointing west. Right in front of him is a flower bed that crisscrosses like an X, so walk towards the center of it, right-click on the ground and select the “dig” option. Before you can dig the treasure up however, you’ll be attacked by a level 4 Gardener. After killing him, dig the treasure up to complete the quest!

Rewards

Treasure: A Cut Emerald, Gold Ring and 450gp.

The great news aboutRuneScape Swept Awayis that it is no longer just for members only. This game was released especially for Halloween 2008 so as you would expect there is lots of spooky action to be enjoyed. Your aim is to help a witch find special ingredients that she needs to add to her cauldron; if you take on this mission she will reward you with some of her potion. A fair exchange for this short and easy task and she will also give you a broom. You will find the witch, whose name is Maggie, in Draynor Village.RequirementsSkill:None
Quests:None
Difficulty:1/5
Length:Short (10 - 30 mins)
Members only:F2PRuneScape Swept AwayMaggie will send you to look for three other witches.Your first task will be to go to visit Hetty in Rimmington. You will find inside a house there; you will recognize her by the fact that she has a huge caldron full of green yuck. Before she will help you there is a mission you need to carry out for here; he wants a newt to add to her cauldron. You will find a trapdoor south of her house. There you will find somebody called Gus who has a problem with mislabeled crates; just examine the animals and re-label the crates - easy. You will be rewarded with a newt and when you take this back to Hetty she will give you a potion for your broom.Next you will want to go speak with Betty who lives inPort Sarim. You will first need to speak to Lottie though and she will give you another animal related puzzle. This one is a bit harder than the last and you will need to pick creatures up one at a time and put them where they need to go. No two animals can be in the same area together and if you mess up they will run away and you will need to start over. You have to put the animals in the area that best suits them. Once you have done this you will find a chest containing a wand which you then take back to Betty.Your next destination will be Draynor Villagewhere you will want to find Aggie who teleports you to another location. She too will want some assistance before she is willing to help you. Your quest will be to create four triangles by removing lines of sand; fairly straight forward and you just need to sweep away a few of the lines. Once you have completed this task your broom will gain some magic and you then be teleported back to Draynor Village. You are now ready to go back to Maggie and help her finish the potion in the cauldron. Once you begin talking to her she will allow you to stir the contents. You have now completedRuneScape Swept Awayand you are ready to collect your reward. Runescape Runecrafting Guide

Posted by amber

Runecrafting is an interesting and fun skill to practice in RuneScape, as there are many different kinds of Runes to make, and several parts to making them using this skill. Often times, you will not be standing in the same spot for a long time, so the skill moves along quickly and you can get a great deal of Runes crafted in a short time. Before you can start crafting your own Runes, you need to mine some Rune Essence from the Essence Mine. Of course, not just anyone can find this mine, and only several characters in RuneScape can teleport you to it: Aubury - Located in the Varrock Magic Shop. Wizard Sedridor - Located in the Basement of the Wizard Tower. Wizard Distentor - Found in the Yanille Magic Guild. Wizard Cromperty - Located just northeast of the Ardougne Market. Brimstail Gnome - Found in a cave in the southwest corner of the Tree Gnome Stronghold. Once you’re in the mine, just mine some Essence from any Rune Essence rock. You will either get Pure Essence or Normal Essence. These different Essence will be explained later on. After using the nearby portal you will be teleported to the character you spoke before. You will also need a Talisman, depending on the type of Rune you wish to make. You need to use the correct Talisman with the ruins around RuneScape to be teleported to an Altar to craft your Runes. Check the Talisman and Altar Charts below for more info. Runecrafting Pouches After completing the Zamorak Mage’s Runecrafting task, Members will have the ability to obtain Pouches for carrying Rune Essence. There are 4 different sized pouches, each able to hold a certain amount of Rune Essence, but you can only carry 1 of each pouch at a time. The different sized pouches are sometimes found from the loot of the Abyssal Creatures in the Abyss, including Abyssal Leeches (L 41), Guardians (L 59)and Walkers (L 81). Pouches Picture Pouch Runecrafting Level # of Holdable Essence Small 1 3 Medium 25 6 Large 50 9 Giant 75 12 Kinds of Rune Essence As said before, there are two types of Rune Essence in RuneScape: Regular Essence, and Pure Essence. Regular Rune Essence can be used to Runecraft all of the FreePlay Runes, including Air, Water, Earth, Fire, Mind and Body. Member Runes such as Nature or Law Runes can’t be crafted using this kind of essence. You will always mine Regular Essence if you are a FreePlayer, or if you’re a member with less than level 30 Mining. Pure Rune Essence is used to craft all types of Runes, and can only be mined by Members who have level 30 Mining or better. ——————————————————————————– Talismans Once you have some Rune Essence, you’re going to need a Talisman so that you can enter the Altar of the Rune you wish to make. Many of them are dropped by enemies around RuneScape, and after you have the one you need, bring it to the ruins of that specific Rune (If you have an Air Talisman, bring it to the ruins of the Air Altar) and use it with the “Mysterious Ruins” to be teleported to the actual Altar. This way, you can save 1 extra space per trip for Rune Essence, which is very helpful for high level Runes. Check out the Crafting guide for info about making Tiaras. Once you’ve crafted a regular Tiara, it’s time to enchant it. Bring the Tiara to the Runecrafting Altar of your choice, along with the same kind of Talisman. Use the Tiara on the Altar to bind the Talisman and Tiara together to make an enchanted Tiara. This will cause you to lose your Talisman, but it’s very useful in making higher level Runes since you don’t need to use it with the altar to access it (thus saving a space in your inventory). You can choose the “Locate Altar” option for the Talisman itself and be pointed in the correct direction, or follow the directions and look at the maps in the below chart. Anyhow, just use your Talisman with the “Mysterious Ruins” to be brought to the Altar. To make the Runes, just select the “Rune-Craft Altar” option from the Altar itself to craft all of the Essence in your backpack into Runes. Tip: You can mouse-over any of the “mini-maps” below to see an enlarged picture of the altar’s location! Runecrafting Altars Altar Location Mini-Map Air South of Falador. Upon reaching a certain Runecrafting level, you’ll have the ability to make multiple Runes from a single Essence, since you’ll have more control and skill over crafting them. You will always receive the same amount of experience from crafting each kind of Rune, regardless of the number you make. The basic idea is that you can combine 2 Elemental Runes together to make a single Rune. This newly-formed Rune counts as 2 different elements, such as both Water and Air. Only Elemental Runes such as Air, Water, Earth and Fire can be combined. You can create the following Runes: Mist - Air & Water Dust - Air & Earth Mud - Water & Earth Smoke - Air & Fire Steam - Water & Fire Lava - Earth & Fire Combining Runes In order to combine Runes, you’ll need a few things including 1 of each Talisman, 1 type of Rune, and Rune Essence. So, if you wanted to make Mist Runes, bring an Air and a Water Talisman, either Air or Water Runes (whichever you wish to use), and Rune Essence. Depending on which Runes you choose to bring along, go to the other Temple (if you’re making Mist Runes and bringing Air Runes, go to the Water Temple). Enter the temple using the correct Talisman as usual, and then use the other Talisman on the Altar to combine the Runes. Warning: The Talisman that is the same as the Runes you carry will be used up when combining them! Plan on losing 1 Talisman each time you combine Runes, so it would be wise to bring Runes who’s Talismans you have more of. Necklace of Binding The Necklace of Binding will give you a 100% success rate while combining Runes while worn. It can be obtained by enchanting an Emerald Necklace using the Enchant Level 2 Jewelry spell. Runescape Strength Guide

Posted by amber

What Does Strength Do?

Strength is a very valuable skill used in Melee combat. The higher your Strength, the higher you will hit during combat. It’s for this reason that most PKers have a very high Strength compared to their other stats. There are also some pieces of equipment that require you to have a certain amount of Strength to wield.

Training Strength

By clicking on the Attack Styles icon (the one with the crossing swords), you’ll be able to choose between the different kinds of attacks you can use with your currently equipped weapon. To train your Strength, you’ll want to choose the “Aggressive” style from the menu.

Each time you inflict one damage point on your opponent, you’ll earn 4 Strength experience. You can also use the “Controlled” method of some weapons to train all of your melee skills (attack, defense and strength) and earn 1.3 experience to each.

In the picture below, the box is accessible by clicking the Equipment icon (right of the inventory icon), which allows you to equip and unequip items. The “Show Equipment Stats” will pop-up the box you see is in the picture. It will contain what you’re wearing, an enlarged picture of yourself, and your stats. Strength bonus is located under “Other bonuses”. The higher that number is, the more damage you will deal in combat.

Boosting Your Strength

There are a number of ways to temporarily boost your Strength.

Potions - There are a few potions in RuneScape that will give you a generous strength boost
Drinks - Several alcoholic beverages will increase your strength level for a short time.
Prayers - 3 Prayers exist that will allow you to inflict extra damage in battle.
Special Attacks - Some special attacks will increase your strength greatly when used.
All of these methods will be described later on in this guide.

As expected the number of players on our RuneScape2 Beta worlds has now calmed down a little, so we have reduced the number of servers back down to a number more suited to the number of people playing. What we really need to do is test how the game behaves with slightly more crowded worlds. Since it’s important to keep the testing conditions realistic - compared to how they will be for the final release.

It’s also obviously also not so much fun if the world you are on is almost totally empty and there is nobody to interact with. So this change should help both us and you.

Behind the Scenes - May

It’s not unusual for dwarves to be involved in a spot of industry. In this month’s first quest, however, they may take it a bit too far. Nurmof, the pickaxe sales-dwarf in the Dwarven Mines, will have need of an energy source to power his patented pickaxe machine. Unfortunately for RuneScape gold, it looks like his choice will have severe consequences. Will you be able to clean up Nurmof’s act in this month’s low-level quest, Perils of Ice Mountain?

Whatever happens in RuneScape, the cats seem to find their feet, and, this month, those feet - and the rest of their bodies - will get graphically improved to become even more adorable. We may be getting a wee bit enthusiastic by sprucing up the Gertrude’s Cat quest, but we’re sure you’ll appreciate what’s new (pussycat).

You may know that the law talisman is a reward for the hard-to-beat Troll Stronghold quest. We feel that, not only is this a reward that everyone should be able to get their hands on, but it’s strangely low-level for a high-level quest. This month, we will be making the law talisman available to all members, so that anyone can craft law runes, or use the Assist System to help others make them. The Troll Stronghold reward will be replaced by two 10,000xp lamps and, if you have completed the quest already, Dunstan will be ready to hand you them.

You wouldn’t find Party Pete fighting trolls in Troll Stronghold - that would mess up his marvellous new ‘fro! That’s right, Party Pete has an appointment with the Makeover Mage, all thanks to your votes in the Guaranteed Content Poll. Expect a startling new ‘do, threads and moves. You might even go “Woah! Dude…” when he throws some pretty spectacular shapes.

Burning down the house will be the graphically reworked TzHaar. Like Party Pete, the TzHaar were voted, by you, to have their looks and animations reworked. There’s also the small matter of an improved Jad; this month, you will find the look of old is gone. What replaces it will be a whole lot more threatening…

Some of you may have read recent news reports regarding a security flaw in the Internet Explorer web browser – the default web browser in Microsoft Windows. This flaw is reportedly being used to steal passwords for various popular online games. We would therefore like to take this opportunity to remind all our players of a few important security practices:

If you use Windows make sure you have the latest updates installed. You can get the latest updates and security fixes for your computer from windowsupdate.microsoft.com. This will protect your computer against the latest security flaw.

runescape news: In Pyre Need

Posted by amber

The phoenix, an ancient creature from RuneScape’s distant past, is in need of your help. While flying to her roost she was injured, and now she lies wounded and dying in the depths of her fiery cave. By chance, a knowledgeable priest has discovered her home, and now he waits for an adventurer with the necessary skill and courage to aid the phoenix in her hour of need. Perhaps that adventurer will be you! Or are you…chicken?

In this quest you will navigate lava-filled caverns, learn the secrets of an ancient ritual and, if all goes well, save the phoenix from certain death.

Once you’ve completed the quest, you will be able to return to the phoenix’s cave for a repeatable distraction and diversion reward that you can claim once a day. You will also gain the ability to summon a phoenix familiar to aid you in your battles – something that many of you voted for in April’s Guaranteed Content poll. Sorry that you’ve had to wait a while for this!
