1. Starting the quest
Go to sir Amik Varze and talk to him. Tell him that you seek a quest. He says that he has something that he wants you to do, so tell him that you “laugh in face of danger”. Then, tell him that you will do your best to help him. He then gives you a dossier.
2. Find the secret weapon
Make sure that you have your iron chainbody and bronze med helm. Then head to the Black Knights’ Fortress, which is located north of Falador. [map] If you don’t have a cabbage, pick one from the monastery just east of the Black Knights’ Fortress.
Make sure you are wearing the Bronze medium helm and the Iron chainbody, and enter the sturdy door. Push the wall and climb the ladder twice. Then climb the other ladder down. Go through the door to the east and climb up the ladder in the room, then climb down the ladder next to it.
You should be in a room with a chaos altar which can be used to recharge your prayer points. Then, go through the door in the room. Quickly run to the ladder and go down. When you have done it sneak along the passageway and press on the ventilation grill so you can hear what they say. You will discover that the plot is an invisible potion. The only thing they need is a cabbage from Draynor Manor.

3. Destroy the potion
Go all the way back and this time you take the east door. The guard warns you that you will be attacked by black knights. Go through the east door and quickly climb up the ladder. Follow the way and push on the strange wall. Now you use (don’t eat!) the cabbage on the hole.
4. Claim your reward
Head back to Sir Amik Varze and talk to him. He will be very grateful and will give you 2500 gold.

Cats

Catching rats in the sewer There’s not much more rewarding in life than raising a pet and seeing it develop into adulthood. In RuneScape, of course, this can mean raising a kitten from a cute ball of fur to the dizzy heights of wily cats and their supreme vermin-catching skills. Yes, cats in RuneScape are a bit more exciting than your next door neighbour’s kitty.

Where to get your cat

Location of Gertrude’s house Gertrude, who lives just west of Varrock, is a bit of a cat fanatic. Her own cat, Fluffs, also provides her with regular litters of kittens. In order to own a kitten, or any other type of cat, you must have completed Gertrude’s Cat. When you complete this, Gertrude will give you your first kitten.

If you lose your kitten, or you want a new kitten later on, come back to Gertrude and she will sell you one for 100 coins.

Looking after your cat

There are five main types of cat: kitten, grown cat, overgrown cat, wily cat and lazy cat. If you want your kitten to develop further you must take care of it. If you fail to feed your kitten, or pay too little attention to it, it will run away and never come back. It’s a lucky thing, then, that looking after your cat is so easy.

Kittens can be fed any fish, cooked or uncooked (except for seasoned sardines - they don’t share their mother’s taste for spicy food. Also note that seaweed, edible or otherwise, is not a fish), as well as milk. They will also eat any rats they catch, but kittens are too young to be very good at this, so it pays to keep some fish or milk handy.

Kittens also require a bit of attention, which is really very simple. Right-clicking the kitten and selecting ‘Interact with Kitten’ will allow you to then select ‘Stroke’, which keeps any kitten happy. You can also get a ball of wool to entertain your cat; simply use the ball of wool on your cat and it will merrily play with it. They will also play with plain wool, but will destroy it as it plays.

All cats enjoy hunting rats, and you can do this anywhere you see ordinary level 1 rats running about. Simply right-click on your cat and select ‘Interact with’, before choosing ‘Chase’. Kittens are not very good at hunting rats, but they improve as grown cats, and improve again as wily cats.

If you would prefer to keep your cat away from flea-infested rats, you might like to go to your house and make some clockwork mice in your workshop. Like ordinary rats, your cat will hunt clockwork mice. Be aware that your cat will also destroy them, so you might like to make a few if you plan on training your cat in this way.

No cat ages in your inventory or in the bank, so in order for them to develop you need to take them out into the world. Once your kitten has been active for a sufficient period of time (so, not in your inventory or bank) it will transform into a fully grown cat. Grown cats are better at catching rats and require no more feeding or attention.

Kitten
Grown Cat
Overgrown Cat
Wily Cat
Lazy Cat

After a further period, your cat will transform into an overgrown cat. Overgrown cats cannot hunt rats except in the rat pits, and they will only transform into a wily cat if you take them to be trained by Felkrash, in the Port Sarim rat pit.

Note: You may only upgrade an overgrown cat to a wily cat if you have completed the Rat Catchers quest.

Wily cats are the finest of all hunting cats, and can also run quite quickly. When your cat becomes a mighty wily cat, they also learn how to hunt creatures other than rats: wily cats can hunt kalphite larvae (in the Kalphite Hive) and butterflies. If your wily cat does not get enough exercise, though, it will become a lazy cat.

Lazy cats are not as athletic as wily cats, and can only hunt rats, but they can be retrained to become wily cats again. Should your wily cat become lazy, merely spend some time taking him hunting to work off his excess fat and your cat should transform back into a wily cat. The more time you spend at once exercising your lazy cat, the sooner it will be back to its energetic, wily state.

If you ever tire of your kitten or cat you can rid yourself of them by right-clicking on them, selecting ‘Interact with’ and then choosing ‘Shoo-away’. If you do this the cat will never return, so be very sure that you want to rid yourself of it.

You can own many cats at once, but there are a couple of limitations. You may own as many overgrown cats as you can handle, but only one kitten or grown cat, and only one wily or lazy cat.

Recommended Equipment

Catspeak Amulet and Cramulet
You must complete Icthlarin’s Little Helper to gain access to the catspeak amulet, and Do No Evil if you want a cramulet (a catspeak amulet merged with all other ’speak’ amulets). These amulets are probably the most valuable items in any cat owner’s possession. With one in your possession you can not only communicate more clearly with your cat, but you can talk to any cat in RuneScape. If you have had your catspeak amulet enchanted (by Hild, early on in Tail of Two Cats) you can also use it to locate Bob the Jagex Cat, who is always ready with a joke. A cramulet cannot be enchanted in this way.

If you have lost your catspeak amulet, the Sphinx in Sophanem will supply you with a new one, but only if you have a cat with you. To retrieve a cramulet, you will have to make it again from its constituent parts: amulet of monkeyspeak, amulet of ghostspeak, etc. To have a catspeak amulet enchanted, take it to Hild in Burthorpe.
The Ring of Charos (Activated)
You must complete both the Creature of Fenkenstrain and Garden of Tranquillity quests to activate the Ring of Charos. This ring allows you to choose the colour of your kitten when you buy it from Gertrude. Simply click ‘(Charm) I’m quite fussy over cats - can I pick my own?’ when Gertrude asks whether you want a new kitten. You will then be presented with a full range of six delightful colours.

If you have lost the Ring of Charos (Activated), you will need to return to Fenkenstrain’s Castle to steal it again.
Mouse Toy
You must have completed the Tail of Two Cats quests to gain access to the mouse toy. The mouse toy is not a particularly effective weapon, but by holding it and walking about you can at least entertain your cat; no cat can resist the way it jumps about, just like a real mouse.

If you have lost your mouse toy, return to Bob and he’ll give you a new one. Remember, you’ll need a Catspeak Amulet to talk to him.

Other things to do with your Cat

If you take the time to talk to your cat (obviously, you’ll need the Catspeak Amulet for this) they’ll tell you exactly what they want to do. Most cats will tell you that they want to go hunting, and where they’d like to hunt. You and your cat are not limited to hunting rats in sewers and on streets, however: you may prefer to try one of these other activities:

The Rat Pits
The Rat Pits are a small task in which your cat challenges another player’s cat in a test to see which of them is the better rat catcher.

Note: Depending on how you play, it is possible for your cat to die in the rat pits.

The Cat Training Medal
If your cat manages to kill 100 rats before it becomes overgrown, take it to Gertrude to receive this wonderful memento of your achievement. Wear it with pride!

Renaming your cat
Felkrash, of the Port Sarim rat pit fame, who can train an overgrown cat into a wily cat, is also able to name and rename wily and lazy cats (up to six letters long). You must have completed the Rat Catchers quest to name your cat.

Selling cats
Though many devout cat owners will think it evil, it is possible to sell your cats. The unfortunate citizens of West Ardougne make their living from catching rats and will pay you 100 death runes for a grown cat, overgrown cat, wily cat or lazy cat. Those adventurers who have completed all of the Easy Tasks in the Ardougne set will be offered 200 death runes, if wearing their Ardougne cloak when talking to a West Ardougne citizen. Kittens are not particularly good rat catchers, though, so the people of West Ardougne will not buy them.

Hellcats

Catching rats in Evil Dave’s mother’s basement… You must have started the Evil Dave subquest from Recipe for Disaster to unlock hellcats. In the darkest depths of Evil Dave’s mother’s basement, there is a massive infestation of hellrats that needs a good cleaning out. Any kitten or cat can hunt hellrats and, after killing a sufficient number, your kitten/cat will be tainted by the pure evil of the hellrats and become a hellcat.

Hellcats are no different from normal cats. They have precisely the same limitations and strengths, and a hellkitten will grow into a hellcat. A wily hellcat can still become a lazy hellcat. The only difference is that, if you have a Catspeak Amulet, you will notice that your cat has become quite evil, and doesn’t mind telling you exactly what it thinks of you.

If you prefer a friendlier breed of cat, you can undo the effect of the hellrats by feeding your cat some milk.

Famous Cats of RuneScape

Across RuneScape there are dozens of cats. You may encounter a few on your travels and, if you have the all-important catspeak amulet or cramulet with catspeak included, you might like to have a chat and see what they’re up to. These are just a few of the more significant cats:

Fluffs
Fluffs is Gertrude’s cat, and the cat that starts you on the path to owning and raising cats. It is also Fluffs that supplies all of the kittens that you can buy from Gertrude. When not raising her own kittens she enjoys spending time in the Varrock rat pit.
Bob the Jagex Cat
Bob is a bit of an institution around RuneScape, and people are constantly on the lookout for him and his particular type of ‘humour’. He can only be reliably found by using an enchanted catspeak amulet, but he’s always worth the trip.
Neite
Neite holds a special place in Bob’s heart, so it’s only fair that this qualifies her as famous. She considers family connections to be the mark of good breeding, however, so be prepared to be ignored.
Evil Bob
Evil Bob is a dastardly character, and you can read all about his wicked ways and how to escape his clutches on the Random Events page.
The Sphinx
The Sphinx is, as you might expect, a mysterious creature. She watches over all the cats of RuneScape from her home in Sophanem and, though she obviously doesn’t like people much, she will help you out if you have a cat or kitten of your own.

Pet Fish

You are not limited to pet cats in RuneScape, and those with a great love of animals might like to try the delights of owning a fish. As fish are simple pets to look after, they’re also good for adventurers who aren’t sure that they will be able to properly care for a larger animal like a kitten.

The Fishbowl

Although fishbowls are tradable, you will need to have a Crafting level of 42 to be able to make one. It’s quite a simple process, and you can find out how to do so by looking under Crafting - Glass Making.

Just to recap, you will need a bucket of sand and some soda ash to make the molten glass, and a glassblowing pipe to make that into your fishbowl.

You cannot simply put your fish into this fishbowl, of course, first you must prepare the bowl so that your fish won’t feel lonely or get bored. Firstly, and most obviously, you will need to fill your fishbowl with water; next, you must locate some seaweed to put into the bowl to provide the fish with something to hide in (fish are easily frightened, you see).

Once you have all this ready, you can go to Catherby to speak with Harry at Harry’s Fishing Shop. While talking with him, you will be given the following chat options:

Clicking on ‘Can I get a fish for this bowl?’ will prompt Harry to offer you one of his small nets for ten coins, with which you can catch a pet fish in one of his tanks.

Once you have all of this prepared you’ll see that the process is quite simple:

Empty fishbowl +
Water =
Water-filled fishbowl

Water-filled fishbowl +
Seaweed =
Habitable fishbowl

Habitable fishbowl +
Small net =
Pet fish!

There are three kinds of pet fish: a blue fish, a green fish and a spinefish. There is absolutely no difference between the fish, but you might notice that one type is marginally more common than another. There’s no limit to the number of pet fish you may own, though, so there is nothing stopping you from collecting the whole set!

Things to do with your fish

Though your pet fish may seem to simply enjoy swimming about its tiny kingdom, finding all the exciting places in the seaweed to hide and nibble upon, you can do much more with it than merely watch as it plays. Right-clicking on your fishbowl will bring up a menu of options:

These options are all fairly self-explanatory, but there are a couple of points to note.

To feed your fish you must have some fish food. Fish food can be obtained by having a rummage through Draynor Manor, or you can make it yourself. To make it you will need to speak to Harry again to ask about fish food. He will say that he has none, but that he has an empty fish food box with the ingredients listed on the side.

To make fish food you will need to grind up the ingredients, so make sure you have a pestle and mortar to do so. Once you have ground up the ingredients, use them on the box to fill it up. Your fish food box will only hold one feeding’s worth of fish food, so you might like to keep some more ingredients handy to refill it once you’ve fed your fish.

If you choose to drop your pet fish the bowl will smash, killing the poor little blighter and leaving you without its companionship. As pet fish are untradable, you might like to reconsider. It is quite a tragic end for a pet offering so much joy, after all.

Pet Rocks

You must have reached a certain stage in The Fremennik Trials to get a pet rock.

With all of the maintenance required of cats, and the fact that all a fish does is swim around in circles, you might find a more exciting pet in the chilly lands of the Fremennik Province: a pet rock. This dutiful and affectionate pet can provide hours of entertainment, as well as making a decent weapon if you’re in a bind.

Taking care of your pet rock

The pet rock is an undemanding pet that seems to feed simply on the sense of satisfaction it gets from being owned by someone. As a result, you do not need to provide it with food or exercise.

Things to do with your rock

To see what you can do with your rock, click on it to select ‘Interact’. This will bring up the following list of options:

Selecting one of these options will enable you to merrily entertain yourself with this most excellent pet’s company. You’ll be pleased to note that playing fetch or telling it to ’stay’ will result in a nice animation so your friends can observe you being a caring owner.

If you ever lose your pet rock (oh no!), you can get another by speaking to Askeladden in Rellekka.

Famous rocks from around RuneScape

The Ancient Rock
Given that you get your first pet rock from one of the Fremennik, it’s no real surprise that the people of the Mountain Camp in the east of the Fremennik Province worship this large and ancient stone. This rock is truly ancient, and it’s entirely possible that your own pet rock could be descended from this venerable (if quiet) individual.
The Big Rock
The big rock (the rock), not Big Rock (the troll), from the King of the Dwarves quest is a good example of what might happen to a pet rock (the pet) if you feed it too many pebbles. The big rock (rock) has clearly been overfed like its namesake (troll), which makes it a bit ‘heavy set’. Although you’re just about able to pick up the big rock during the quest with level 77 Strength, if you want to take this non-pet away for some walkies, or to show it off to other adventurers, you’ll need a Strength level of at least 90.
Dondakan’s Rock
No one can claim to have met a harder rock than this one. You’ll encounter it and its defiant ways in the Between a Rock… quest. After all these years, the dwarf and the rock must have some kind of love-hate relationship - something you and your pet rock should never need to worry about.
The Falador Rocks
No one knows where these rocks came from, or who painted the silly symbols over their magnificent rocky grey colour. They sit mysteriously north of Falador, perplexing everyone who encounters them.
The Golem
Okay, so the Golem isn’t technically a rock: he’s clay. Still, he is the chattiest of the stony inhabitants of RuneScape, so he deserves a mention. If you’re keen to have a chat with a stone, you should start The Golem.
The Slagilith
Not every rock you encounter will be as friendly or as charming as your pet rock, and the slagilith is the perfect example of this. When you encounter it in One Small Favour you should be ready for a rumble.
Rock Crabs
A few beasts around RuneScape take advantage of the good reputation of the rock to deceive their prey. The rock crab is possibly the best known of these, and any good rock aficionado should be able to tell the difference between the humble and generous rock and the vicious and deceitful rock crab.

Rune Guardians

A runecrafter’s best friend? Sticking loosely with the rock-themed pets is the rune guardian. Completion of the Rune Mechanics quest allows you to get hold of a pet rune guardian - a smaller version of the essence-crafted, golem-like wardens of the Mage Training Arena.

This little pet doesn’t eat food like other, more normal pets. Instead, you just have to take it to any of the rune altars. Doing so will nourish your rune guardian and change its colour to reflect the last altar it fed at. Will you treat yours to the hot and spicy delights of the Fire Altar, or the burnt ochre and woody overtones of the Earth Altar? Or how about the tangy, metallic notes of the Blood Altar? And who could pass up on the veritable smorgasbord that is Ourania Altar? You can get another grey rune guardian pet by leaving your current one in your house’s menagerie (or letting it go), then speaking with Clerval in the Mage Training Arena’s basement.

Rune guardian pets also enable you to change the colour of infinity robes, by taking the robes and pet to one of the four elemental altars - air, water, earth or fire - and using the robes on the altar. To change them back to normal, simply use them on the rune guardian.

Tooth Pets

Ooh, fangs for da bucket of milk. Sticking loosely with the rock-themed pets is, er, okay it’s nothing like a rock. In fact, it’s nothing like anything…a pet grown from a tooth? It looks a little bit like what a gorak would look like, if a gorak was made of teeth and looked like this…but it doesn’t, and it isn’t, so it’s not. Nope, we’ve got no clue what this thing is, but hey, it still makes for a great pet! Just remember to brush it at least twice a day to keep its, er, enamel glossy, and feed it some milk to help it grow big and strong. Mind you don’t feed it too much chocolate milk, though, or it might develop cavities…

If you really want one of these, er, things, you can get one from the Tooth Fairy after completing A Fairy Tale Part III - Battle at Orks Rift, but she’ll want some teeth in payment. Namely: a suqah tooth (from Lunar Isle), an ‘old’ tooth (from the Digsite), a human child’s tooth (see Gertrude in Varrock), some kebbit teeth (from an obliging sabre-toothed kebbit), and some monkey dentures (from Ape Atoll).

The Grand Tree, teeming with gnomes

Many centuries ago, the gnomes of RuneScape emerged from the caves and tunnels in which they used to live and began to settle in the treetops of forests. Since that day, they have established massive holdings and grown the mightiest tree in the world: the Grand Tree.

Most of the gnomes in RuneScape live in and around the Grand Tree, building platforms on the branches and hollowing out the trunk for spacious rooms. They are a friendly bunch of creatures and incredibly inventive: some of their notable achievements include the gliders that allow fast and convenient travel across RuneScape, their remarkable cocktails and their even more delicious food (even though toad is a staple ingredient). Without the gnomes, it is almost certain that technology and culture would not have advanced as far as it has.

Location

A map of Tree Gnome Stronghold

The Tree Gnome Stronghold takes up a massive area of land in the north-west of RuneScape, on the western bank of Baxtorian Falls.

South and south-east of the Stronghold is the twin capital of Kandarin, West Ardougne and East Ardougne.

To the east, past Baxtorian Falls and McGrubor’s Wood is Seers’ Village and Camelot, where King Arthur is taking some time out before returning to England in its time of need.

Points of Interest

The Stronghold’s points of interest

The Tree Gnome Stronghold is a massive settlement, and gnomes know how to use space. As a result, there is always much to do there.

In the north-west is the Gnome Ball field, where the gnomes allow humans to try their hand at this peculiar sport.

In the south-east corner of the Stronghold is the Gnome Stronghold Agility Course. The gnome armies are especially well-trained, and all of them must meet the approval of the gnome trainers, who shout encouragement from the sides.

The Grand Tree is in the north-east of the Stronghold, and is the centre of gnome culture in RuneScape. On the first floor you will find the remarkable cuisine of Gianne’s Restaurant and the tasty tipples of Blurberry’s Bar. Both Gianne and Blurberry are constantly in need of staff to help out, so if you want to learn the secrets of the gnomish gastronomic arts you might like to pay them a visit.

On the top level of the Grand Tree is the local Gnome Air glider, which will take those that have completed The Grand Tree to almost any Gnome Air landing point in RuneScape.

Personalities

King Narnode Shareen

Though gnomes are very different from humans in many ways, they still have a king. King Narnode Shareen is one of the wisest of all the gnomes, and is very keen to establish good relations with the human kingdoms. His job is not simple, though, as there are many within the Stronghold who would like to see gnomes as lords over the humans.

  Glough

Glough is the current chief of the gnome armed forces, and one of the main supporters of gnome supremacy. It is his duty to ensure that the Grand Tree is kept safe from all dangers, so it’s quite understandable that he is suspicious of anyone taller than himself.

King Narnode Shareen is almost always in his throne room on the ground floor of the Grand Tree.   Glough can be found in his tree house just south of the Grand Tree.
Daero

Daero is also in the gnome military, second in line after Glough. He is much more open to friendship with humans and other non-gnomes, though, so any shift in power between the two should signal a significant change in gnome diplomacy.

  Blurberry

Blurberry is an icon of gnome culture, for it is in his bar that the many gnomish cocktails can be purchased. He is a friendly gnome, and always looking for talented staff. The shop to the east of his bar also sells ingredients and recipes for these peculiar beverages.

Daero can be found sampling the treats in Blurberry’s Bar.   Blurberry can be found watching over his bar on the first floor of the Grand Tree.
Aluft Gianne Snr (and Jnr)

Gianne’s Restaurant is famed throughout RuneScape – especially among gnomes – for the quality of its food and the strange delicacies that gnomes so enjoy. Gianne is, like Blurberry, always after staff to help run the restaurant. Funch’s Fine Groceries also sells Gianne’s cookbook and many of the ingredients needed to make these treats.

  Trainer Nacklepen

The tortoises that the gnomes have recently begun using in their military must be trained to become other than the docile and passive creatures that they naturally are. For this, Trainer Nacklepen’s notably brutal approach has proven surprisingly effective. Essentially, he shows them nothing but cruelty and beats them down until they are as callous as he is.

Aluft Gianne can be found in his restaurant on the first floor of the Grand Tree.   Trainer Nacklepen can be found wielding a cruel staff in the tortoise enclosure north of the swamp.

Quests

The following quests can be started in the Tree Gnome Stronghold:

  • The Grand Tree (Members)
  • Monkey Madness (Members)
  • The Eyes of Glouphrie (Members)

Defenders of the Grand Tree

Giant rat (Level 3)

The tunnels beneath the Grand Tree feature creatures that the gnomes allow to live on the grounds that they provide some protection against invaders from beneath the earth. Giant rats are by no means adept defenders, though, as they make easy prey for almost every adventurer.

  Gnome guard (Level 23)

Despite their short stature and preference for the greener and cleaner parts of the world, gnomes make excellent soldiers, especially because they can be summoned up to battle in numbers. The gnome guards of the Stronghold are as numerous as you would expect, and will fight to the death against anyone that thinks gnomes are weak.

Giant rats can be found in the tunnels under the Grand Tree.   Gnome guards can be found throughout the Tree Gnome Stronghold.
Giant bat (Level 27)

Bats are nocturnal creatures that rely on their sense of hearing to find their prey, for this reason they tend to prefer living in caves, where they can hear echoes of footsteps and their own cries to pinpoint precisely where their prey is. Their wings are their weakness, and arrows are excellent at puncturing them.

  Terrorbird (Level 28)

Terrorbirds resemble the chompies loved by ogres, but are much more vicious. They are trained as riding beasts by the gnomes, who then marshal them into regiments and charge into glorious battle. Without a rider they are still dangerous foes, and can be assigned as a Slayer task.

Giant bats can be found in the tunnels beneath the Grand Tree.   Terrorbirds can be found in the central area of the Stronghold.
Mounted terrorbird gnome (Level 31)

What could be more terrifying than a terrorbird? A terrorbird with a gnome on top! These cavalry soldiers are among the finest soldiers the gnomes can muster, and lead their charges into battle armed with spears or bows to decimate their enemies. Mounted terrorbird gnomes can also be killed for Slayer experience when assigned terrorbirds.

  Tortoise (Level 79)

Tortoises are generally very peaceful creatures, but the gnomes have discovered a way to turn them into bloodthirsty beasts of burden for their soldiers. These tortoises have yet to make that transformation, though, and are instead simply in training (which generally involves beating them with sticks and other implements).

Mounted terrorbird gnomes can be found in the central area of the Stronghold.   Tortoises can be found in an enclosure north of the swamp.
Battle tortoise (Level 92)

Once Trainer Nacklepen has finished his brutal work upon the tortoises and the gnomes are in place upon their back, the tortoise becomes a mighty battle tortoise. These lumbering beasts are the perfect platform for the gnomes to take the battle to the enemy, blasting them with Magic and arrows, as well as the tortoise’s own fearsome attacks.

Battle tortoises can be found in an enclosure north of the swamp.

Shield of Arrav

Posted by runescapecoin

Start: By speaking to Reldo, the librarian of Varrock Castle or Charlie the Tramp, located next to the Varrock Weapon Store.
Skills: Ability to fight a level 2 or 23, depending on your selected gang.
Quests: None!
What you Need: A friend who hasn’t started the quest, 20gp.

Scroll down to the end of the guide to find a ‘Fast Quest Walkthrough’.

——————————————————————————–

Getting Started

Before starting this quest, you are going to need a friend to help you who has not started this quest yet. Speak to Reldo, located in the Varrock Castle library, north from the entrance of the castle. Ask him for a quest. After a short conversation, he mentions about a book in the nearby shelves that may tell you about a quest. This book can be seen by a blue and white shield in the top shelf, facing away from the desk. After you have read this book, talk to Reldo and he tells you to talk to Baraek, who located outside of Varrock Castle.

Now that both of you have started the quest, decide on the gang that each of you will join. Apparently the Shield was broken in half, and each gang has 1 piece. You’ll each have to join a different gang to get both halves.

Phoenix Gang

Baraek can be found outside Varrock Castle in the marketplace, near the fur stall. Ask him about the gang, but before he gives out the location, he wants 20gp. After he tells you about the location of the gang, head along the south wall, walking east until you see a small building with a dungeon symbol. Climb down the ladder and talk to Straven.

Tell him that you know who they are, and that you would like to offer your services. He wants you to get an Intelligence Report from Johnny the Beard, located inside the Blue Moon Inn. After killing him, you should receive an ‘Intel report’. Bring that back to Straven and then he will allow you to be in the Phoenix Gang. He will give you a key in return, in which you have access to both the Phoenix hideout and a weapon storage place. Enter the hideout and head southwest until you see a chest. Open and search it and you will receive a left-half shield.

As soon as you get the left-half shield, climb the ladder and walk over to the building east of the hideout. Open the door and climb the ladder to approach a weapon storage building. Inside there is a Weaponmaster who is Level 23 and guards the Phoenix Crossbows. Kill the Weaponmaster and take two Phoenix crossbows on the floor. Give these to your friend in the Black Arm Gang.

Note: Magic attacks do not work on the Weaponmaster.

Black Arm Gang

After you have spoken to Reldo, talk to Charlie the Tramp and ask about the alley behind him. He says that the Black Arm Gang can be found there, and ask if they would let you join. Talk to Katrine, who is inside the building and tell her that you’ve heard that they are the Black Arm Gang. Ask her if you can become part of the gang, and asks you to steal two Phoenix Crossbows. Make sure your friend has traded you two Phoenix Crossbows.

Give Katrine the crossbows and she makes you part of the gang. Go upstairs and search the cupboard on the east wall for a right-half shield.

Final Steps

Once each of you have half a shield make your way to the Museum, north from Varrock East Bank. Talk to the curator. You will receive either two left half certificates, or two right half certificates. Which certificate you get depends on which gang you’re in. Find your partner, and trade them exchanging one of the certificates, so that you both have a left half, and a right half certificate. Use one half with the other to get a full Certificate, and then talk to King Roald in Varrock Castle to redeem your reward.

Congratulations! Quest Completed.

A Ghost in the Graveyard

Begin your quest by making your way to the Lumbridge Church, just east of Lumbridge Castle. Basically all you need to do is use your Lumbridge Home Teleport spell in you spellbook to arrive in Lumbridge. You won’t be able to use this spell if you have already done so in the last half hour. Once in Lumbridge, go outside of the castle’s courtyard and look for the church near the river. In the church, you will find Father Aereck, speak with him.

Tell him you’re in search of a quest. He’ll tell you you’re lucky, as he needs someone to do a quest for him. Now tell him you want to help. He’ll then tell you the problem; apparently there’s a ghost in the church graveyard, and he wants you to get rid of it. He also mentions that if you need any help, you should go visit Father Urnhey, Father Aereck’s friend, in Lumbridge Swamp. You should be able to find his house in the western depths of the swamp, near the coastline.

Now exit the castle and go south into the church graveyard. Exit the graveyard to the south and you’ll be in the general area of the swamp. Just follow the edge of the swamp all the way around. Don’t go in it or you may get confused. If you just walk along the edge of the swamp you should eventually run into Father Urhney’s shed on the west side of the swamp.

Once you’re there, speak to Father Urhney. At first he’ll demand you leave because he is meditating. Just tell him Father Aereck sent you. This will get him to talk to you, and he’ll ask you what problem Father Aereck got himself into this time. Tell him he has a ghost haunting his graveyard. Since Father Urhney vowed never to leave his shed until he had done a full two years of prayer and meditation, you’ll have to do it. He’ll give you an amulet. It’s an Amulet of Ghostspeak, and when you wear it you can speak to ghosts. He’ll tell you that many ghosts are doomed to be ghosts because they left an important task unfinished. He says your best bet is to try and find out what the ghost’s task was.

Note: If you happen to lose your Amulet of Ghostspeak, you can get another one from Father Urhney.

A Ghost’s Skull

Now head back to the church graveyard and enter the small shack with a coffin in it. Open the coffin and the ghost will come flying out. Speak with the ghost.

The ghost will be shocked that you can understand him. Confirm that you CAN understand him and want to know what the problem is. Eventually he’ll tell you that he thinks he is doomed to be a ghost because a warlock once came along and stole his skull. He’ll tell you he thinks it was one of the warlocks who live in a big tower by the sea southwest of your current location. You’ll tell him you are going to get his skull back.

Now head all the way back to Father Urhney’s house. Except this time, don’t go in it, just walk right past it. From his house, just keep following the coastline west. Doing this will eventually lead you into a path that leads on to a bridge, go on the bridge. At the other end of the bridge is Wizard’s Tower, the big tower the ghost was talking about.

Enter the tower and climb down the ladder to find yourself in the basement. Enter the southeast room. Look for the altar with a skull on it. When you search the altar, a level 13 Skeleton will attack you, so be prepared. The skull should be in your inventory, so just run away. If the skull is on the ground because you had no inventory space, you can easily pick it up and the skeleton will stop attacking you. You can then go back to the Restless Ghost’s coffin. However, if you feel like finishing off the skeleton, you may.

Once you’re at the coffin, open it. Simply use the skull on the coffin to put it in. The Ghost will thank you and a cutscene will start, in which he is released. Congratulations! Quest Complete!

Rewards

Amulet of Ghostspeak - If you happen to lose yours, you may get another one from Father Urhney for free.

Pirate’s Treasure

Posted by runescapecoin

Start: Talk to Redbeard Frank, located in Port Sarim, about treasure.
Skills: The ability to kill a level 4 Gardener.
Quests: None!
What You Need: At least 90gp, a bottle of Karamja Rum, White Apron, Chest Key, and a Spade.

Scroll down to the end of the guide to find a ‘Fast Quest Walkthrough’.

——————————————————————————–

Getting Started

First, talk to Redbeard Frank about any treasure he may know about. Usually he can be found near the Rusty Anchor Bar in Port Sarim, and he says that he will tell you about treasure if you get him some Karamja Rum. So, travel along the walkway and talk to either of the 3 sailors near the boat. When they ask if you want to take a trip to Karamja for 30gp, say yes.

Getting the Rum

Once on Karamja, follow the dirt road until you reach the bar owned by Zambo. Speak with him and buy some Karamja Rum for 30gp. Now, you need to smuggle the Rum off of the island because the Customs Officer will not allow you to bring it to the mainland.

Head back down the road and talk to Luthas, the banana plantation owner about a job. He says that he will pay you 30gp for each crate of bananas you fill up. Pick about 10 bananas from the trees behind his house, and then walk up to the crate on the other side of the building. Now use the Karamja Rum with the crate to store it, and then pack the crate with bananas.

Talk to Luthas again to collect 30gp, and then leave the island by speaking to the Customs Officer and letting her check you for anything you shouldn’t have with you. Once you’re off of the island, go to Wydin’s Grocery Store and try to get into the back room. Ask him for a job, and he says that you need a White Apron to work for him. You can find one hanging up on a hook behind the counter of the Fishing Shop (next door to the Grocery Store). Go into the back room and search the crate in the middle of the floor for the Rum.

The Pirate’s Treasure

Bring the Rum back to Redbeard Frank, who gives you a Chest Key. He says that there’s a chest upstairs in the Blue Moon Inn, so head to Varrock. Upstairs in the pub is a chest, and after unlocking it with the key you should find a Pirate Message that reads “Visit the city of the White Knights, in the park Saradomin points to the X which marks the spot.” It looks like we’re going to Falador.

You’re going to need a Spade to dig up the buried treasure, and you can find one in the small house just east of the Furnace in Falador. In the garden you will see a statue of Saradomin pointing west. Right in front of him is a flower bed that crisscrosses like an X, so walk towards the center of it, right-click on the ground and select the “dig” option. Before you can dig the treasure up however, you’ll be attacked by a level 4 Gardener. After killing him, dig the treasure up to complete the quest!

Rewards

Treasure: A Cut Emerald, Gold Ring and 450gp.
