Rune Essence
If you have no money on Runescape then another of the quickest ways to make money is to mine Rune Essence. Go south of Varrock East Bank to the Rune Shop, talk to Aubury and choose to be teleported to the rune essence mine. Mine the rune essence and sell each one for 25 – 30 gp each. If you mine 1000 rune essence you’ll be able to sell it for 25 – 30 thousand gp.

You can easily buy unidentified herbs (unids) for 1k each and then resell them for 2k each, but what you should do is buy for 500 – 750 gp each and then selling for 2k each maximising your profit by around 50%. For every 1k unids you buy and sell you can make a whopping 1 Million gp profit, and that’s when you buy at 1k and sell at 2k.

When you buy this bead for 5k and think you can sell it for 15k more then the person who was buying for 20k says that they have just bought one and you have then just lost out on like 5k as a black bead is only worth something around 1gp. You would have spent 4,999gp more than it is worth. This can happen with larger pricing items, beware of this scam.

Jagex Password
If someone types in ‘Jagex blocks your password, look here’s mine ******.’ These people are wrong and are trying to hack your account. If you make the mistake and type it in then they cannot log on when you are on so just change your password when you are online, otherwise you will have lost your account. NOTE: Jagex does not block your password if you type it into the text box.

Item Doublers
Nobody can double your items so if someone tells you to drop items and press Alt and F4 this will close your page down and by the time you load back up this person will have run off with your money/items. Do not fall for this scam.

Jagex Staff
If someone tells you that they are Jagex staff and they can get you free stuff then don’t believe them as Jagex staff hardly ever plays with normal players. This is a scam that nobody should fall for as staff never play and wouldn’t give anybody this option as they would probably be fired!!

The following guide just offers some fairly simple Runescape hints and tips that will hopefully help you with some of the more prominent aspects of Runescape.
Best Ways to Train
Ideally when you are training your combat you want to train on something that won’t deal you too much damage, because otherwise it will cost you a lot of time and money to obtain the food required to train on such things. You also want to train on something that you can kill relatively quickly, meaning you want to train on something that has comparatively low defence compared your general combat level, because this normally means there is less chance for them to deal you damage and you can experience a lot quicker if you aren’t always hitting zeros.

Another factor that should be considered when you are training your combat is armour and weapons. These make a significant difference to your training, particularly when you are lower levels. Having a good weapon and even the most basic armour can greatly reduce the amount of damage you are dealt and improve the speed at which you kill the Runescape monsters. Whilst armour may be difficult to save up for in your very early levels, hopefully somewhere by level 10 you should have save up enough to be able to afford to buy yourself some iron armour and a nice steel weapon. You really should look to try and be as best equipped as possible when it comes to combat training because it really does make a major difference. That’s the first hint for your Runescape combat training.

As suggest above a good tip for when you are starting out in Runescape is when you start training you need something that will quickly advance your levels. I suggest that you head out of Lumbridge Castle, walk across the bridge opposite and walk north until you find yourself with a small farm on the left. Here you will find chickens. Kill these until you reach level 5 - 10 combat and then can look to start training on something a little tougher like some level 3 men, which can you find just north of Falador at a place called Edgeville. Train on these until you achieve a few more levels of which you can then head to the Goblin Village just north of Doric’s Anvils.

After gaining some more levels you can head towards Varrock by walking along the path but stop at Barbarian Village. When you get there attack some of the level 10 barbarian men until you reach around level 30 - 35 combat. This can also be quite a good place to start working on your range if you want. After reach 30+ combat you can now consider crossing the bridge just east of Barbarian Village and then head immediately north to a hut containing a ladder. You will need a brass key to enter this hut but when downstairs you can train your levels quite quickly. When you’ve gone down the ladder you will see to the south of you there are hill giants. These are level 28 and you should not have too much difficulty with them, but more importantly these monsters also drop big bones which can be sold for up to 350-400 gold pieces, so you can make quite a bit of money as well as gaining combat levels.

You want to stay attacking these for a while as you need to and can gain a lot of levels as well as making a bit of money. When around level 50 you should head north of the giants, staying in the dungeon and you will come across hobgoblins. These are fairly aggressive so be careful and watch you hp level. You’ll want to stay here or possibly go back to the giants until you achieve your desired level of combat.

Some other popular training places when you are 50+ combat include the ice cave which is to the west of Port Sarim, or the skeleton graveyard in level 20 wilderness, or the hobgoblin mine in level 32 wilderness, or Ice mountain at level 45 wilderness, or the lesser demon pit on Karajama island.

Best Ways to PK - Tips for Runescape Magers
Maging is by far the best route to take if you wish to become an ultimate PKer. The one thing you have to watch is your hitpoints level so keep an inventory of food such as lobster which will heal you sufficiently enough. I started getting higher and higher up the highscores list and started to overtake some of the well known fletchers. I am now, and have been for quite some time, a proud level 99 Fletcher. I had to stick to Fletching otherwise I would never have gotten to level 99 and I believe that if you do the same with any skill you wish to advance in or if your aiming for an item stick to your guaranteed money making methods and you are bound to get to the goal sooner than you think you will.

So are there any other online games like Runescape?
Well there aren’t a lot of online games like Runescape, but there sure are a lot of similar online RPG games out there in the market. Many of these games can be purchased from your local game stores or downloaded form the internet. They include titles like World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, Star Wars Galaxies, Everquest II, Lineage II, Final Fantasy XI, Maple Story and Silkroad Online are all a couple of good options. Though you should keep in mind many of these games aren’t like Runescape because they either charge a monthly fee to be played or aren’t browser based, rather need to be installed on your computer to be played.

Why is it hard to find online games just like Runescape?
Well there are two main things about Runescape that really make it quite unique. One it is utterly free to play. Sure it isn’t the complete version but a large proportion of the game is free to play and gives you an eternity of great game play and enjoyment out of a free game. Secondly there aren’t any other online games like Runescape because it is completely browser based. Meaning that you don’t need to buy the game in a store or download some 700MB file and install it on your computer to play it. It is all played online with your browser with your character and your stats, items and gold all saved on the Runescape servers. Another thing that is hard to find in other online games that Runescape has is the sheer number of people that play it. It is one of the most popular online RPGs with over 100,000 simultaneous players playing the game at any one moment.

Whilst there aren’t any games exactly like Runescape a few of the popular alternatives were mentioned above, including World of Warcraft which is by far the most popular MMORPG online at the moment with over 8 million subscribers. So if you are after a popular alternative to Runescape, and you don’t mind paying a monthly fee, then World of Warcraft would be your best option. If you are after a free online game, Guild Wars is a good option if you are willing to buy the actual game first, meaning you pay for the game in a store but there is no on going monthly subscription payment. If you are looking for a completely free alternative you might like to try something like Maple Story, this is a very popular free alternative.

Land of the Goblins

Our latest quest starts with a little goblin and a big dream. Grubfoot, the generals’ dogsbody from the Goblin Village, has arrived in the Cave Goblin Mines and wants to speak to Zanik about what his dream might mean…

Journey into the secret heart of goblin religion, battle magic-wielding skeleton priests, and take on a whole new identity as you seek out the fabled Land of the Goblins.

This quest takes the focus off the H.A.M. storyline and puts it firmly onto the goblins. More will be revealed about the Big High War God, and Zanik will move closer to fulfilling her destiny. Your path may even bring you to a goblin transformation potion!

Bounty Locate and VineSweeper

Bounty Locate Spell:

It became clear that the Bounty Locate spell was being used as a way to escape from combat in Bounty Hunter. This was never our intention and made it harder to get bounty rewards, so we have altered the spell. If you are in combat, you will run or walk towards your target rather than teleport there. You will still teleport to your target if you are not currently in combat.

Also, the Bounty Locate spell will no longer work if you are ‘held’ by another spell - Ice Barrage or Entangle, for example.

These changes are effective immediately.

Vinesweeper:

Having read your Forum posts, we felt that the rewards for Vinesweeper needed to be more worthwhile than they currently are. This enjoyable minigame is now having a shrewd eye cast over it. We plan to update the XP and seed rewards, amongst other Vinesweeper changes, next week.

We recommend that you keep hold of your Vinesweeper points until these changes have been made. We don’t want to stop you playing the minigame; after all, we are not changing the amount of points you can earn - only what they are worth.

We also plan to make the rascally rabbits a little easier to deal with. Currently, they are too fast to be effectively stopped and will often eat your seeds before you can deploy an ogleroot.

To clarify, all of these Vinesweeper changes, and a few more, will be made next week.
