If you are serious about Agility, it’s likely you’ve not been to the Gnome Stronghold or Gunnjorn’s barbarian course for some time. This week, that could change, as these Agility trainers have spent long hours constructing new routes around the courses that only the most agile players should attempt.

These extended courses will not only give you a chance to show off your most agile moves, but will also reward you with weight-reducing clothing, should you complete enough laps.

With the addition of these extended courses, the cave goblins of Dorgesh-Kaan have made some changes to their Agility course, too. They’ve decided to make the course a little less unforgiving, so you should find that you fail less often. The other main change is that the entry requirement for the existing course has been increased from 70 Agility to 80 Agility, while the two extended courses have entry requirements of 85 and 90 Agility, respectively.

Today we are officially launching the RuneScape Forums, that have been running in beta mode for a few months.
The forums are very lively and there are regular contributions by several members of Jagex staff, even Andrew himself!

This launch will affect players in two ways:

Firstly existing forum users will notice that a number of the forums have been moved, others renamed, and some combined.

Secondly, the forums are now viewable by free players. For free users the forums are read-only. We value our players input, and forum feedback about our RS2 beta has been very useful to us. However, we have decided not to allow free players to make posts on the forums for the time being.

We have made this decision for two main reasons:

The sheer scale of the RuneScape community (there are over 660,000 active accounts!) would make it very hard to ensure the quality of posts, and to keep the forums well moderated.

Since free accounts are readily available, we don’t want the anonymity that they provide to be an excuse for inappropriate forum posting.

There are currently about 40 active player moderators on the forums whose efforts to maintain a fun and safe community are very much appreciated.

We have fixed the following bugs:

Fixed: If you dropped your fishing equipment your fishing animation would continue anyway
Fixed: When putting dwarf weed into a vial you were told you were adding Tarromin
Fixed: You could walk on the water near the observatory

Fixed: The circle of stone in monks friend didn’t show up in low detail mode

Because your Magic level will be drained slowly by a snowstorm whilst in the ice area, you do not want your spells to stop casting because your level has been drained below the level required to cast your active spell. If your Magic level drops below 25, you brought prayer potions instead of super restores, or you brought law runes as a teleport out instead of the ectophial or a teleportation tablet, your chances of survival are slim. Cast a fire spell with a Magic requirement significantly below your normal level, and you’ll find it easy. Well, easier maybe. The most commonly chosen spell is Fire Bolt, as its level 35 Magic requirement is much more manageable than the level 59 Magic requirement of Fire Blast and with Family gauntlets its max hit is only 1 lower. It is recommended that you use Fire Bolt instead of Fire Blast unless your Magic level is over 70, as otherwise the Magic will drain quickly and leave you unable to cast the spell. If this occurs, you will be unable to both eat food and drink restore potions fast enough and will probably either die before you can heal or be forced to teleport away having wasted valuable supplies. Choice of armour can be chosen depending on the type of player. Balanced stat players (non-pure) should use magic boosting/resistant equipment. 1 or low defence players (pure) should use magic resistant and/or prayer boosting equipment. NOTE: its been proven that Kamil can be killed by a dwarf cannon. Kamil walks up to you so set up the cannon, use it to shoot and hide behind a rock.Its also advised to use Dragonhide armour as he uses a weaker version of Ice Barrage which can do about 15 damage. However, his melee attack is much more powerful and he uses it more often, so Protect from Melee is suggested.

• Kill Kamil - Go back to Trollheim and back to the ice gate. This time, go through the cave at the back and follow the path round until you come to an open area, where you will find Kamil. Attack him with fire spells up close and have Protect from Melee prayer on at all times, as he can hit up to 22 with melee. It is also possible to safe-spot Kamil using the Icy Rocks. Through the first half of the fight, he freezes you frequently. While you are frozen, you will be unable to cast a spell, and after each time he freezes you, you will stop autocasting your spell. It is best to cast your spell manually from your spell book during this portion of the fight. About half way through the fight, he stops freezing you so frequently and you will be able to make headway on casting spells on him. After about half way, he drops fairly fast, but watch your health, your prayer points, and your Magic level. Kamil drops 1 Super restore potion and 2 Chocolate cakes.

The ice shelf, this is where spiked boots come in handy.

• Find Parents, getting to Ice Path - Once he is dead, you need to follow a very hard to see path - on low detail it is all-but invisible (oddly, while it can be almost impossible to see in your minimap it’s quite clearly marked on the RuneScape World Map so check that and you’ll have a good guide). Just keep clicking around on your minimap and try to weave your way through the ice. Travel west a little then north. Then east, and north again until you can go no further, then west and south until you reach the edge of the Ice Ledge.

• Find Parents, Ice Path - Put on your spiked boots and climb up the ledge. You will fall as you walk along the ice path and take damage. Drinking a little super restore might help here, because you fall less often if your Agility level is higher. Follow the ice path all the way to the top until you see another gate and a bridge. On the other side, the Troll’s parents are encased in ice. Do not underestimate the length of this walk, it’s a fair distance to the ice ledge and then another long walk to the parents.
• Free Parents - Attack the cases (they have 10 Hitpoints each and are easier to melt with magic) and free the trolls. Bring an extra restore potion or two, otherwise it’s very hard to break. A runeless teleport is also essential. Otherwise, your magic might be too low to teleport away. After freeing the troll parents, they will take you back outside the gate and give you the ice diamond.
• All of your stats will be restored except hitpoints and prayer

The fifth chapter of my Runescape money making guide.

Another great way to profit is to visit various shops located within Runescape. We will touch on a few of these in this chapter. The goal is to find items in demand, or rare items.

You will want to buy common items from shops, and then resell them high to other players. If you are a member there are certain shops in Runescape that only sell items to members, and the good thing is that many of these items can be used by F2P players.

Rune Shops (F2P and Members)

This will work in any Rune shop for any level. (However, if you have access to the Magic Guild, you can literally make millions in minutes!) When you visit the rune shops you are looking for high volumes of runes that are in stock.

Mostly Death, Law, Cosmic, Chaos, Mind… any rune that is used greatly by mages. Mages rely on runes to play and gain experience. The best place I have found to sell Runes in large quantities is to visit the WizardTower and head up to the 3rd floor. On this floor is the caged Lesser De- mon, the are normally tons of mages here as this is the prime spot to level and gain magic experience for all levels

When you arrive just ask if anyone needs runes, or if they are running low. Mages hate to interrupt there training, and love it when they can find ?runners? to go get runes for them.

I personally am a mage and I actually have hired ?runners? to run back and forth from Varrock and other towns to buy runes from the shop, and I pay them 2-3 times more than they have purchased them for. This is just an example of how this can work.

Always remember to change worlds to try and sell your runes. You may also wish to take orders.

If you choose to do this, just write down what everyone wanted, (write down there username and how much of whatever runes they want- ed) Once you have this information, simply visit the rune shop purchase the runes (switch worlds to find more runes in stock.)

Tip: The more of an item in stock the less is costs. So watch the price, when it increases to high, switch worlds, over time the stock will regenerate, then you can come back and continue to buy.

Caniffs Clothes Shop (Member)

Have you ever wondered wear those colored gloves come from? Well here they are. This is another EASY way to make a quick profit. This shop houses many different colored robes, boot, and gloves. Red, Teal, Gold, Gray…

You may choose to only sell gloves, this is up to you. I always choose to buy complete outfits. (Gloves, Boots, Robes). Once you have bought what you would like to sell, log into a members world and go to the Varrock Marketplace.

Runescape Wilderness
In Runescape many years ago, players went out into a vast land to battle one another and become ever victorious. The Runescape Wilderness we know today is very different from the wilderness of the last six years. Here is a brief overview of what arguably used to be the most exciting part of Runescape used to be like:
What was the Runescape Wilderness
The Runescape Wilderness was a large area in which people could wander upon and fight one another until the end. The Wilderness was considered one of the biggest money makers of all time, with the idea of killing others to gain their items, though it was also considered one of the fastest ways for beginners to lose their fortunes. The wilderness was definitely not for the weak.

Dying With a Skull in the Wilderness
Well, you could attack other people, or you could be attacked, it was as simple as that. The only problem was that you have to be extremely careful in the Wilderness if you did not want to lose your best three items. When you venture into the Wilderness if you want to keep your best three items then I suggest you don’t attack anyone. The best thing to do was wait for someone to attack you. If you or someone else attacks first then a skull will be placed above your head. If you’re losing your battle and have good items, now was the time to panic and run. The skull above the head means that you are a PKer, a Player Killer. The skull would last for around 20 minutes and if you die before then, wave goodbye to all of your items, including your top three, unless you had the protect item prayer on

Where to Start Runescape Pking
There are entrances around Edgeville and East Varrock which can be seen in the image below.

When you enter the Wilderness you will have to jump across the Wilderness Ditch. This was a ditch that stretches the whole way across the entrance to the wilderness. When you click on the ditch to jump over a notice will pop up asking you if you really do want to cross over into the Wilderness. You can see what this popup box looks like below.

To enter the wilderness you had to click the ‘Enter Wilderness’ button. Your character will then hop over the ditch.

People You Could Attack In the Wilderness
The entire Wilderness was made up of 55 levels. The further you go in, the further you have to go to get back out. To make the Wilderness a fair place there was a rule introduced that a player can only attack another player if they are the amount of levels into the Wilderness as the difference between their levels. For example, I am a level 90 and wanted to attack a level 75. I must go into level 15 Wilderness to attack him or for him to attack me. Levels that wanted to attack a level 75 in level 15 Wilderness must be between level 90 and level 60.

Below is a list of all the major Runescape Wilderness areas.

Varrock Entrance
Varrock Wilderness entrance and its surroundings are the worst place to be caught off guard. If you get blocked from moving and blocked from teleporting and are against 10, 20, 30 high levels then you really need to watch out in case you get PKed (Player Killed).

Edgeville Entrance

Another highly watched area was the Edgeville entrance. I can guarantee you that there will always be someone waiting here. This was due to people running back and to from the Rune Crafting Abyss.

Hill Giants
You can see in the top right of the image two huts. The hut furthest on the right is where the Hill Giants hang around. This was a common place for PKers. There were bound to be people hanging around here waiting eagerly to kill others and steal their items. Watch out when walking past here, in fact, your probably best running through here as quick as possible.

Moss Giants
Next to the Red Dragon Isle around the Wilderness title you will find Moss Giants. This was a good place for PKing as it was always populated with players who were trying to train up and gain a few fast levels. At level 38 Wilderness your prey won’t be able to teleport away, and they won’t be able to steal your Moss Giants as this is a non-multi combat zone.

Rune Rocks

The mining symbol at the top left of the screenshot represents Rune Rocks. You will occasionally find a high level around these rocks mining away. When they see you they will normally log off and change world as they will not be carrying any armour or weapons. The rule I have found useful here is leave them alone and they will leave you alone.

Demonic Ruins
This was probably the worst place in the whole of the Free to Play Wilderness. In level 46-47 Wilderness do not take any items you are not prepared to lose.

Green Dragons

The darker dot on the left hand side of the image is where you’ll find a group of angry Green Dragons waiting for you to come along and slay. There are normally high levels training here.

The Abyss
Circled is the entrance to the Abyss. What is the Abyss? This is where you can access all rune altars and get quick and easy access to make your runes. Watch out for the PKers!

Mage Training Arena
This is where you can buy and charge your almighty God Staff’s. You can teleport yourself to the entrance of the Mage Arena by pulling a level in a hut in West Ardougne. Watch out for people waiting for you to teleport you as they will no doubt start attacking you. Remember that this was so far into the Wilderness that teleporting will not work.

Free Runescape Membership For Your Account
There are a lot of free version Runescape players out there that would love free Runescape membership, but unfortunately there is no way to get Runescape membership for free via any sites and Jagex doesn’t give away free Runescape to members no matter how long you have been playing the game or how skilled you are. So technically there is no such thing as free Runescape membership, but that said most people searching for free membership on Runescape aren’t necessarily looking for it to be given to them for free, but there are ways to earn money online to pay for Runescape membership without having to spend your own pocket money, signing up for a credit card or asking your parents to pay for your membership on Runescape.
Pay For Runescape Membership with PayPal
The reality is if you are like the average Runescape player, then you don’t own a credit and therefore don’t have an easy way of paying for Runescape membership, which means you need of opt to get a free PayPal account. In my opinion it is the best way of paying for Runescape membership anyway because it pretty much removes the need for your parents to be involved in the payment process.

To fully verify you PayPal account you need to have a credit card but even without a credit card you can setup an account and pay and receive funds with your PayPal account, and if you are from one of a number select countries you can actually have money from your account paid directly into your bank account or sent to you via a check.

How to Get Runescape Membership For Free
So how can you about getting Runescape membership for free via these other means. Well my personally favorite is just doing odd jobs for people and getting paid via PayPal then collecting enough money to pay for a couple of month Runescape membership. Like for example I actually pay players to write guides and articles on certain topics of Runescape and if they are good enough quality I pay them like $15 an article. That’s two months Runescape membership all for a couple of hundreds of words on Runescape.

Only recently I paid a member of Runescape Boards (a Runescape forum I run) $40 for 3 articles. I asked him how long it took him to write the articles and he said it took a total of two hours and he said he found writing the articles interesting and enjoyable. So by spending two hours of his time writing some articles he managed to earn enough money to pay for six months worth of free Runescape membership. If you think you are capable of writing good quality guides like the ones you see on this site you are more than welcome to get in contact with me, Chris, at Runescape Boards.

Also I have recently seen a lot of people joining triond and having their articles published on gameolosophy where they offer writers the opportunity to write for them and they share the revenue earned from the advertising that they display next to your articles when they are read by visitors. Personally I think this isn’t going to be nearly as lucrative as just writing for someone who is willing to buy your guide at a fixed price plus the problem with this method is it takes quite awhile to accumulate the earnings from your articles and you need to write quite a number of articles and wait months and months before you will have earned enough to get your free membership on Runescape.

You can get paid for lots of things on the net other than writing articles you just have to go to forums where you can sell your services to other webmasters. You can make some really good money selling things like graphics and website designs if you are skilled in those sorts of things. You can even make good money by posting on other people’s forums and creating conversation. Doing these sort of simple jobs you can earn more than enough to pay for a few months of Runescape membership.

Other alternatives include getting involved in get paid to programs like CashCrate and Treasure Troopers where you can earn money for participating in offers, surveys, taking free trials, referring your friends and making purchases. The problem again with these sorts of programs is that it takes quite awhile to earn enough to cash out and there are a very limited number of things you can do to earn money if you don’t live in the United States and they take quite awhile to payout and they often don’t payout to PayPal which is annoying because it means you still can’t pay for Runescape membership without sending money into Jagex directly or using a credit card.

Once You Have Your Free Membership on Runescape

The Runescape Pking
One of the most interesting and possibly the best aspect of Runescape’s game play is its wilderness section and Runescape Pking. So what is Runescape Pking? Well Pking stands for Player Killing. So basically it’s where you enter the Runescape wilderness and attempt to kill other Runescape players. This of course is much more interesting that killing the regular NPC monsters of Runescape because you are fighting a living, thinking and creative person on the other side.
Runescape Pking Tips – Wilderness Basics
So are there any pking tips one should know before they go pking? Well I guess the obvious thing to mention is the stronger you are the harder you are to kill and therefore it is in your interests to be as strong as you can when you are looking to fight in the wilderness. Does this mean that you need to be level 126 before you enter the wilderness? Of course not. There are players of all level wondering around the wilderness, and one of the interesting things about the wilderness and Runescape pking is that not just anyone can attack anyone in the wilderness.

Basically the wilderness is divided up in to levels, in free to play it’s levels 1 through to 50, and for each levels of wilderness people that can attack you and that you can attack must be within that level of wilderness of your combat level. So if a level 70 player was in level 14 wilderness they could attack or be attacked by any player that had a combat from 56 through to 84. Obviously the deeper you go the greater the range of players you can attack or be attacked by, this is something that should definitely be weighed up before traveling too deep into the wilderness.

Runescape Pking Combat Triangle
The premise behind a combat triangle is that there are three classes of fighters in Runescape; warriors, mages, and rangers. This combat triangle has a big influence on Runescape pking. If you are a pking as a warrior you find that when fighting a mage that they will hit you very hard and very often, because in this Runescape pking combat triangle they have the advantage over the warriors. Warriors are slow and cumbersome with all their armor where as mages are light because they essentially only need robes and runes. This gives them quite a weight advantage and thus they can run for quite awhile longer, and seeing mages can range from distance this means that they can essentially run far away enough from warriors that they can mage them without getting into a melee fight, and therefore not take any damage during the fight.

Of course whilst mages may be stronger against warriors they cannot use their same advantages against rangers. Rangers usually wear dragonhide armor which gives good protection against mage’s spells and they also aren’t quite as heavy as a warriors armor so they can run for quite a bit longer which reduces the mage’s light weight advantage, and on top of all this they are also able to fight from distances which means that essentially the mage can’t get in a position where there can deal damage without the damage being dealt to them as well. So rangers have a distinct advantage over mages in the Runescape pking, combat triangle.

hen the final side of this triangle is warriors against rangers. Warriors have heavy armor and a ranger’s arrows generally are not very effective against such armor whereas on the other hand rangers have armor that is lighter weight and whilst effective against mages is not good armor to be wearing against well equipped warriors with good weapons. So Runescape pking warriors deal greats amounts of damage rangers and they hit frequently.

Runescape Pking Clans or Teams
Runescape Pking can be done solo but what is far more popular is doing it as a team or with a Runescape Pking Clan. Basically this is where a group of people get together to go Pking rather than going Pking by oneself. There are many benefits to this; the biggest being that there is safety in numbers. The Runescape wilderness is quite a dangerous place and running around by oneself can lead to being killed very quickly if you are wondering in the wrong areas. There are certain areas on the wilderness that are called multi zones where more than one person can attack you at a time, and if you are walking around the wilderness by yourself and a pack of 5 people start attacking you all at once chances are you are going to struggle to survive even if you are a higher level than them (assuming of course that they are reasonably high level players). So obviously there is also the benefit of being in a group when you are in the multi zone as well because you can gang up on individual players and bring them down quite quickly.

Pking in Runescape Teams
It is also worthwhile having a good mixture of fighting styles within the group as well. So if you are going out into the wild with 8 or 9 players it is good to take 2 or so mages and 2 or so rangers. It also helps a lot if everyone has somewhat an idea of how engaging an enemy will proceed, because efficient teams are extremely effective in the wild, and building a tight team that you can trust and rely on goes a long way to becoming successful in the wilderness and at Runescape pking.
