We are planning on removing the RS-Classic to RuneScape item-transferal page tomorrow (on Friday 23rd-Apr) As we’ve said previously we don’t want to keep the two games permanently linked, because doing so limits the potential of our new game engine.
We are instead going to run them as two separate games, which don’t affect each other. In particular we want to increase the amount of bank space RuneScape players have, but can’t do this whilst the bank system is still attached to the old RS-Classic bank system.

Therefore this is just a quick warning that today is your last chance to move items from RS-Classic to RuneScape.

We have been receiving a lot of messages from players who have moved their items to RS-Classic, who have now changed their mind and want to move them back again.
We would therefore like to remind players that there is currently no way to reverse the item transfer. Please please only move your items to RS-Classic if you are absolutely sure that is what you want to do!

We may at some point in the future be able to let people who have changed their mind move their items yet again, but don’t count on it. As we have stressed before, it is simply not a viable option to have players swapping items back and forth between the two games at will.

Update: I’ve changed this list very slightly to clarify some of the items on the plan. Also please bear in mind when this list was written it was just a rough plan to give you an idea of the sorts of things that we were thinking of. As it happens we inserted lots of other cool stuff into the schedule that isn’t even on this list, which pushed some things back but certainly didn’t deprive you of updates! However pretty much everything here is still planned. There is just so many possible things we can do (this list being just a small fraction), and it’s hard to decide what to do first! In particular we decided to develop several key map areas that aren’t even listed, before the ones here, and did considerably more detailed and complex quests than originally planned.

Now that we have finished our big game engine update we can finally get back to producing regular updates to the game.

I’m sure you’re all wondering whats coming next now the update is finally out, so read on for a summary of some of the things we have planned.

The new game engine allows for us to do a much greater variety of updates. We will be able to produce many exciting new features which we simply couldn’t do previously. We have also expanded our development team over the last few months so expect the updates to start coming thick and fast.

These are just some of the many of the currently planned features.

New areas:

A viking style area, including a new quest and town.
A large ‘frozen lands’ area including penguins, mammoths, polar bears and more.
A pyramid quest in the desert full of traps, treasure and mummys .
A barrows of the undead area to explore and find new equipment.
Some good training areas designed for rangers.
New quests:

There will of course be lots of new quests. We will be adding these on a regular basis again, including Part 4 of the ongoing plague city storyline.
New items:

Enchantable rings.
More rare weapons and armour - including weapons with impressive special moves.
Armoured boots.
More clothing to help give your characters a unique look.
Special prayer book items which can be wielded in the shield spot for prayer bonuses.
New features & skills

Treasure hunt mini-game with a variety of rewards, including some new rare items.
Summoning spells - summon skeletons, demons, etc…!
A quest journal for you to read and recap what point you are up to in each quest. No more coming back to a quest after a break, and wondering what you are supposed to do next.
More random events, to give more variety, and lots of chances to win unexpected rewards.
More pets and followers with different properties and abilities.
Special organised game events on holidays.
Many new monsters such as Orcs, Lizardmen and more.
In game versions of our boardgames such as chess and draughts.
And are also planning on adding even bigger features, that really take advantage of our new engines abilities, such as:

Player owned houses - Each player will be able to have their own unique house. Use the new carpentry skill to make new/rare things for your house. Using the farming skill to grow herbs and plants in the grounds of your house. Build your own private party areas and shop areas, and more!

Clan support, to allow you to optionally form your own clans with your friends.

Mutiplayer castle arena for massive team based wars!

Randomly generated scenarios, where a new adventure is generated for you and your friends each time you go on it. Form an adventuring party and go on your own personal quest.

So there’s lots to look forward to! We think the next year will be very exciting.

Runescape is full of fun and exciting items, specially dropped on special occasions such as Christmas, Easter, and Halloween. Some of these items that were dropped years back in the world of Runescape have been extremely rare, and thus extremely valuable. For example, the Santa Hat of Christmas 2002. When dropped, they were only worth around 30k (30,000 GP) each, but now their worth has soared to the millions! This has been the same for items such as Halloween masks of 2003, and also Easter Eggs. Almost every player during their Runescape career would have at one point probably searched for free runescape auto bots or some variation of the term like runescape bots or runescape autos in curiosity. Runescape auto bots or Runescape macros, as they are also called are arguably the most sensitive topic for most Runescape players. Newer players to the game might wonder what these Runescape bots mentioned by more experienced players are. Well, they are programs created by experienced coders which are designed to play a Runescape account for in place of a physical person. So basically a Runescape player would run their Runescape auto program and just leave their computer switched on.

Macroing with Runescape Auto Bots
Runescape auto bots also come with many different scripts which can do all sorts of tasks like completing quests and are obviously more efficient than a person considering they don’t get distracted from their set tasks. These free Runescape auto bots can do all the work like clicking on trees while woodcutting and mining your ores for you while you sleep, eat or watch TV.

Some of the better known free Runescape auto bots are ARYAN and SCAR. They are both macros that let you auto in Runescape. In the past thousands of Runescape players have found themselves banned for using illegal Runescape macros and auto bots like those mentioned above, SCAR and ARYAN - On 19 January 2006, over 15000 Runescape accounts were banned for cheating and thinking they could get away with it. In the message posted onto the front page of the official Runescape website, Jagex again reminded players of their systems that they could easily detect cheating and that if you cheat it was just a matter of time before you were banned.

Jagex has always taken a firm stance on not allowing people to cheat and their reasoning as much as anything is that software like Runescape auto bots are mostly from untrusted sources that often contain key loggers, trojans and viruses which can cause harm to your computer. A lot of Runescape players have had their accounts stolen because they installed trojans and viruses disguised as free Runescape auto bots on their computers and that is something that cannot be said often enough, with so many players still falling for the same old tricks by Runescape scammers.

Playing Runescape using auto bots will get your access to the official Runescape servers removed and your account banned by Jagex, but if you are still adamant on trying out free Runescape auto bots then best of luck to you – you will need it.

Runescape Rare Items
Runescape Rare Items have gripped the Runescape economy and in a way are like the equivalent coastline real estate of real world. Why do I compare Runescape rare items to that of coast line or beach front real estate? Well because like beach front real estate there is a very limited quantity available in good locations and there definitely isn’t more of it going on the market. Runescape rare items are the same, and their value is skyrocketing, and with every passing month the value of such rare items is increasing.
Why Are Runescape Rare Items So Expensive?
Well because back in 2001 and 2002 when these items were dropped they were dropped in a fashion that allowed them to be tradable. Yet they were only dropped brief period in time, the specific holiday that the item was created for. This of course meant that for any players that weren’t playing on that particular day and wasn’t able to pick one of these rare holiday items up it meant that they had to buy one off another player. This meant that there was an active supply and demand for these holiday items like party hats, santa hats, Halloween masks etc.

Now it is basic economics that price generally equals the equilibrium point where supply meets demand. So if supply equals demand then this explains why are the prices of Runescape rare items are so high. See the supply of the these Runescape rare items is essentially fixed or decreasing, meaning that with ever passing month the supply for these rare items is actually decreasing. Why? Well because every time someone with one of these rare holiday items quits Runescape without selling or trading their rare item away that is another rare item that leaves the market which means there are less Runescape rare items to be purchased and therefore this reduces supply and pushes prices up.

Now in addition to there being continual pressure on prices to increase due to the decrease in supply there is also an additional force on the demand side again further pushing the prices of such Runescape rare items up. This is due to the fact that the demand for these items is almost always increasing due to the popularity of Runescape itself increasing. What do I mean by this? Well basically every time new players join Runescape they too become another person that would love to own a Runescape rare item. Well to own a wearable Runescape rare item is quite a privilege these days, and a privilege that I’d imagine 99% of Runescape players won’t ever get the chance to experience. The sad reality is that the prices of Runescape rare items is quickly becoming out of reach for new players. Why? Well at the rate of inflation of these items it is hard to see new player being able to develop their characters to the point where they are able to earn enough Runescape gold to be able to pay for such items is probably getting out of reach. The amount of gold it costs to purchase these Runescape rare items seems to be close to doubling every 3 – 6 months. So even if a new player was able to make around 100k and hour on average and was able to play for 3 hours a day then that would mean that they could earn around 2 million Runescape gold a week. That that isn’t a small task by the average Runescape players standards and when considering the cheapest of these wearable Runescape rare items is now over 20 million gold you are looking at it taking in excess of 10 weeks to make this sort of money, by which time the price of the item will have increased no doubt by at least 50%. As you can see it really is an upward battle in regards to obtaining a wearable Runescape rare item these days.

Runescape Rare Items Future
So what is the future for such Runescape rare items? Well one would think that the price would continue to go up, maybe not as fast as it traditionally has been rising, due to the fact that prices are extremely high at the moment and well out of the reach of the HUGE majority of Runescape players. So is there any potential for prices of Runescape rare items to drop? Well the only three circumstances that I can envisage a drop in Runescape rare prices would be in the following cases; someone manages to create another Runescape item duplicator which would again force prices of rare items down quite sharply. I couldn’t predict the likelihood of something like this happening again in the future but I would imagine it would be quite low. Secondly the prices of such rare items would plummet if Jagex made the announcement that all discontinued items would be removed from the game. I don’t know how quickly prices would plummet but I’d imagine that you would probably see the prices drop to a few thousand Runescape gold very quickly, but I don’t think Jagex would do this because they would probably lose around 20% of players doing it. The third way I envisage that the prices of Runescape rare items would drop would be if the popularity of Runescape itself would drop creating a situation where the number of people demanding such items would drop and as long as the number of Runescape rare items available to purchase doesn’t drop this should bring around a corresponding price drop in the Runescape rare items market.
