Armadyl is an almost entirely forgotten god rumoured to have ruled the air and skies over RuneScape. He is usually assumed to be a good deity, though during the strife and terror of the god wars it must have been difficult to recognise good from evil.

The eyrie established within the God Wars Dungeon has largely undisturbed ice on the floor, for Armadyl’s soldiers have little need for the ground.

Points of Interest

An overview of Armadyl’s Eyrie

To access Armadyl’s Eyrie, you will need a crossbow and a mithril grapple, as well as a Ranged level of 70.

As the entirety of Armadyl’s forces in his base are capable of flight, you will be unable to attack any of them with melee – they simply pull themselves higher into the air and out of your reach while hurling axes, spears and devastating spells at you from above. For this reason, it is highly recommended that you bring a missile weapon or runes.

You must have killed at least 40 of Armadyl’s followers to enter Kree’arra’s headquarters.

Personalities

Kree’arra

Kree’arra was one of Armadyl’s most trusted generals and must have been an enormous advantage in battle. His massive size and ability to ignore many of Zamorak’s soldiers are the great strength of Armadyl’s forces, and Kree’arra embodies them perfectly. With this mighty weapon, the Order and Law that Armadyl represents can be imposed upon those who defy him.

Wingman SkreeSkree is a devout and obedient follower of the Path of Law that the aviantese have chosen to follow, and he brings order with magical projectiles flung with remarkable force from the launchers mounted on his shoulders. Before being imprisoned in the God Wars Dungeon, he must have been highly regarded in aviantese society.   Flockleader GeerinFlockleader Geerin is a natural leader and powerful soldier with many years of combat and many campaigns behind her. Her spear will doubtless continue to bring pain and death to those who embrace chaos and disorder.   Flight KilisaKilisa favours the direct approach to warfare, and his twin blades have brought an end to thousands of Zamorak’s followers and allies. His wings beat ferociously as he bears down on the enemies of Armadyl.

Armadyl’s Noble Warriors

Aviansie (Level 69-148)

The aviantese were Armadyl’s most precious children, and it is told that when they were destroyed he wept and abandoned RuneScape. Of course, not all of them were slain – some were merely frozen – and they continue to fight in his name. You can only attack an aviansie with Ranged or Magic attacks.

  Spiritual Mage (Level 122)

Living on after death to continue serving Armadyl, the spiritual mages use their knowledge of magic to rain spells upon the enemies of their god.

Spiritual Warrior (Level 123)

During their lives, the aviansie warriors strive to increase their speed and strength, and to bring the battle to their enemies, in death they are freed from the constraints of the body and become deadlier still.

  Spiritual Ranger (Level 127)

The aviantese have always favoured javelins and throwing axes, taking advantage of their wings to hurl their weapons with great force at the enemies of Armadyl below.

Miscellaneous

  • If you are extraordinarily lucky, you may find that Kree’arra or his bodyguards drop shards of the godsword. The hilt that the finest aviansie craftsmen designed for that blade is only dropped by Kree’arra.
  • The birdmen of the Eyrie will be less inclined to attack you if you are wearing some of their armour.

You should be sure to read the God Wars Dungeon – Introduction before even contemplating visiting Bandos’s Stronghold.

Like the rest of the God Wars Dungeon, Bandos’s Stronghold is a terribly dangerous place. Please only bring equipment that you’re not awfully attached to.

Introduction

Inside Bandos’s Stronghold

Few have even heard of the god called Bandos. For many centuries he has been thought to be an ancestor of the ogres, perhaps even the beast that claimed the lands of the Feldip Hills and Jiggig. Now that the God Wars Dungeon has defrosted, though, scribes across RuneScape are puzzled by this old god’s reappearance.

Bandos has never been worshipped by civilised races, but is occasionally revered by ogres and other unsavoury creatures. During the god wars he allied himself with different factions at different times, seeming to revel in bloodshed for its own sake. Adventurers heading into his Stronghold are likely to discover just how brutal his armies were…

Points of Interest

An overview of Bandos’s Stronghold

The entrance to the Stronghold is barred by a gong that will only ring for the strongest of visitors. To gain access to Bandos’s Stronghold you will need a hammer and a Strength level of at least 70.

Because of the natural brutality of the followers of Bandos, it is recommended that you come prepared for melee. Be warned, though: even Bandos has a use for mages and rangers.

If you manage to slay forty of Bandos’s followers, you will earn access to his general’s quarters, where you will find out just how hard a true giant can hit…

Personalities

General Graardor

If you need evidence that the god wars were a much harsher time than modern day, look no further than this enormous beast. No one knows what General Graardor is, but it is safe to assume that during the god wars he was truly favoured by Bandos. His massive frame is well armoured and, like a true devotee of the carnage of close combat, he fights almost exclusively with his fists.

Sergeant StrongstackStrongstack has fought in Bandos’s name for much of his life, and is unlikely to give up any time soon. If one thing remains unchanged about goblins, it is their love of combat.   Sergeant SteelwillSergeant Steelwill leads his tribe of goblins with strength of character and a vicious flail. No doubt many goblin leaders of modern times would like to have his ‘charisma’.   Sergeant GrimspikeIt’s thought that Grimspike was once cast out from his tribe for his excessive brutality. What better place to find his family than in the arms of Bandos’s legions?

Quests

Bandos’s Brutal Legion

Ogre (Level 58)

Ogres are one of Bandos’s favourite creations, being utterly devoted to him and dull-witted enough to follow any order. The ogres in the God Wars Dungeon are massive brutes with little concept of safety.

  Jogre (Level 58)

Even during the god wars there were jungles to breed jogres in, and Bandos took advantage of their natural aggression to supplement his armies. The jogres are dangerous foes and are, if anything, more belligerent than orks.

Cyclops (Level 81)

With a single eye set in their heads, you might think that cyclopes are a weak foe, but those who have encountered their fists and their single-minded determination would no doubt beg to differ.

  Ork (Level 107)

The most reliable warriors in Bandos’s forces are the orks. They are massive beasts with a bloody-minded loyalty to their god of war: the ideal soldier in a battle that might never end.

Spiritual Ranger (Level 115)

Armed with heavy throwing axes, the spiritual rangers use the weight of their weaponry to their advantage. It’s hard to argue with a ghost when he’s beating you with twenty pounds of steel.

  Spiritual Mage (Level 121)

Though Bandos seems to have had little patience for mages, it is hard to dispute that his followers make excellent sorcerers (just look at the ogre shamans in Gu’Tanoth!). The spiritual mages in his Stronghold have used their powers to continue the battle after their bodies died.

Spiritual Warrior (Level 134)

The finest of Bandos’s warriors have returned from death to bring yet more glorious battle to their god’s attention. They are brutal and unforgiving warriors and should be avoided by all except the most confident.

Miscellaneous

  • If you are extraordinarily lucky, you may find that General Graardor or his bodyguards drop shards of the godsword. The hilt that the most determined ork smiths designed for that blade is only dropped by General Graardor.
  • The warriors of Bandos will be less inclined to attack you if you are wearing some of their armour.

Inside Saradomin’s Encampment Down where the icy river wends and falls is the Saradomin Encampment; two tiers of land that house those with fealty to Saradomin. Although pious and devout, the followers that reside here are fearsome foes, if one should choose to face them without a symbol of Saradomin’s glory.

Saradomin has chosen an icyene, a member of the race that tempered the godsword, to recover the very item they helped to make.

Points of Interest

An overview of Saradomin’s Encampment

To access Saradomin’s Encampment you will need two lengths of rope and 70 Agility.

Saradomin has balanced his forces admirably, covering all three corners of the combat triangle and leaving little room for weakness. It can only be advised that any encroachers should be prepared for Melee, Ranged and Magic attacks.

You will need to kill at least forty of Saradomin’s followers to gain entrance to Commander Zilyana’s headquarters.

Personalities

Commander Zilyana

Zilyana goes under many names and titles, but her favourite is that of Keeper of the Faith, a charge bestowed on her by Saradomin himself. Taking this role very seriously indeed, Zilyana is most adept at defending it with her sword. Tempered by her own tears, her sword flashes between ribs and across sides with supernatural speed, delivering divine justice with a sharpened tip.

Starlight
Bane of darkness
Starlight is often seen ploughing through ranks of Zamorak’s forces with her head down and her horn aimed for enemies’ vitals. In her wake would lie the broken and the gored, cursing the name of the bane of darkness.
  Growler
Defender of the faithful
Hulking ward of Saradomin’s monasteries, Growler is a pacifist in all but the most extreme circumstances. When forces threaten Saradomin, however, Growler’s ginger haunches raise and the teeth bare.
  Bree
Champion of truth
Messenger and confidant, Bree has a calm head and four solid hooves on the ground. Called upon in situations where things are dire, Bree has the uncanny ability to raise morale and confidence throughout the ranks.

Quests

There are no quest starts in Saradomin’s Encampment.

Saradomin’s Army

Knight of Saradomin (Level 101, 103)

Warriors who have passed various initiations, fasts and temptations, these knights are an order of very few, but fight with the strength of many. They all rigorously abide by their oath of servitude to Saradomin.

  Saradomin Priest (Level 113)

The priests down here may seem antiquated to those who have encountered Saradomin’s priests or monks on the surface. Their black attire has long been outmoded, but who wants to tell this fearsome fighter that?

Spiritual Mage (Level 120)

The priests and mages of Saradomin’s entourage have called upon the spirits of the most venerable and faithful wizards to serve Saradomin once more. Willingly, they throw their very souls into the battle to defend his glory.

  Spiritual Ranger (Level 122)

The spiritual ranger may have lost a body, but they show a keen eye and fine arm for archery. Devoted beyond the grave, the spiritual ranger will return as many times as is necessary to recover the godsword.

Spiritual Warrior (Level 125)

Imprinted with the star of Saradomin, the armour of Saradomin has been filled with many souls, and has the chinks of many battles. It will see many more, as the battle rages on with little sign of finish.

Miscellaneous

  • If you are extraordinarily lucky, you may find that Commander Zilyana or her bodyguards drop shards of the godsword. The hilt that Saradomin’s priests designed for that blade is only dropped by Commander Zilyana.
  • The warriors of Saradomin will be less inclined to attack you if you are wearing some symbol of Saradomin’s light.

Draynor Village is a charming little town, if rather odd. The citizens are…eccentric. This is no surprise, however, as the town has long been dominated by the dark and menacing shape of Draynor Manor. Draynor Manor, unlike Draynor Village, has little to cheer a traveller, and less to recommend it as a nice place to sleep. Unwary campers in Draynor Manor’s grounds might just wake to find a pair of neat holes in their neck where their skin was once unblemished.

The manor’s haunted rooms are filled with ghosts and creaking floorboards. Chairs come to life and follow adventurers about the house; trees and vines lash out at people as they walk past; there are hidden passages behind bookshelves; a possibly mad scientist conducts his experiments on the top floor.

Location

Location of Draynor Village

Draynor lies between the capitals of Asgarnia and Misthalin; Falador is north-west of the village and Varrock to the north-east. Because of this, traffic through the town can be quite busy.

Immediately west of Draynor Village is Port Sarim, home of pirates and sailors, while east lies the peaceful town of Lumbridge.

Travelling north from Draynor Manor are the Barbarian Village and Edgeville, a popular gathering point for forays into the Wilderness.

If you are in search of some of the most famous mages in RuneScape, walking a short way south from Draynor Village will lead you to the long bridge across the sea to the Wizards’ Tower.

Points of Interest

Draynor’s points of interest

The Draynor region, like its population, has a weird variety to offer. In less unusual terms, though, there are a number of farms nearby, some nice woods for chopping down trees, and a few Farming patches for members scattered about, including one in the shadows behind Draynor Manor solely for the purposes of growing nightshade.

Diango, the legendary toyseller himself, offers what may be the most desirable merchandise in the whole of RuneScape: horses and dragon plates. The wise adventurer knows to look to Diango for visions of what the gods intend for their world (or, perhaps, to understand the gods’ sense of humour). Joining him in the market is a Town Crier, who is more than happy to explain the Rules of Conduct and the role of Player Moderators.

There is also the wine merchant Fortunato whose nose for a good drop is almost beyond compare. Ned, an old sailor who has retired to the village, makes rope and other similar items in his house on the east side of the town. Aggie the Witch, who lives north of the market, has retired from the usual tricks of the witching trade, like turning people into toads, and now mostly makes dyes in a variety of colours.

To the east of the town, quite heavily guarded, is a jail looked over by a watch tower. Lady Keli, the jail’s owner, specialises in less than legal imprisonments, so her cells are occasionally occupied by the nobility, whose families she intends to ransom them back to.

Personalities

Diango the Toyseller

Diango is something of a legend in RuneScape, as his salesmanship is only surpassed by how excited adventurers become when they hear about his wares. Unlike Ali Morrisane, he need not sell his merchandise across the world: those who want it will, inevitably, come to him.

  The Wise Old Man

The Wise Old Man was once a great hero of RuneScape, and there are few creatures that he has not slain. In his old age, though, he finds less satisfaction in his fame, and has taken a keen interest in wealth and extremely rare items.

Diango, and his jaunty feathered hat, are always in the Draynor Village Market.   The Wise Old Man can be found in his house opposite the recently burgled bank.
Miss Schism

Miss Schism is a lady with the community of Draynor Village foremost in her mind. It is with the purest intentions that she gossips so freely. What other towns can boast such a goodly-natured woman?

  Morgan

Morgan is exactly what you might expect of a villager afraid of the vampire in Draynor Manor: he’d like to do something about it, but he is too terrified of the evil Count Draynor to do anything about it himself.

Miss Schism sits outside the Wise Old Man’s house, keeping a dutiful watch on him through his window.   Morgan can be found in his house, west of the wheat field.
Count Draynor

This particularly malicious vampire has held sway over Draynor Village for quite some time. Though Count Draynor has never actually been seen wandering outside his crypt, the number of young maidens snatched from their homes in the village is a testament to his lust for blood.

  Veronica

Veronica is engaged to Ernest, which may be quite foolish given Ernest’s desire to help Professor Oddenstein with his experiments. She is a dedicated girl, though, and isn’t likely to let the Professor’s mishaps get in the way of her wedding.

Veronica stands about at the gates to Draynor Manor.
Ernest

Ernest is a well-meaning chap, but not very bright. Despite the fact that he should know better, he is eager to help Professor Oddenstein, and this is very probably why he is a chicken. Poor, silly Ernest.

  Professor Oddenstein

The Professor is a strange man, and his latest experiments with his Pouletmorph Machine have had some unfortunate side effects. He has been successful with another experiment, though, and has opened a portal into a dimension filled with strange electrical creatures.

Ernest can be found pecking at anything small in Professor Oddenstein’s laboratory on the top floor of Draynor Manor.   Professor Oddenstein is usually tinkering with his machines in his laboratory on the top floor of Draynor Manor.
Martin the Master Gardener

Members will recognise that Martin is an extremely experienced gardener, and dedicated to growing the finest vegetables and raising the most succulent pigs. He has banded together with other passionate farmers to form the Groups of Advanced Gardeners (GAG) in order to pool their talents.

  Ava

Professor Oddenstein occasionally ‘wears out’ his assistants, and when Ernest’s problems are sorted out, he’s due for a new one. Ava is a remarkably intelligent assistant, and will likely create greater wonders than Oddenstein once she earns a lab of her own.

Martin can be found in the Draynor Village Market.   Ava can be found in her bedroom in Draynor Manor after Ernest has been returned to normal.
Leela

Spy work can be a risky business, especially in the desert kingdoms, so it must be some relief to Leela that she’s been posted to the relatively calm village. Sure, there are some weird locals, and it’s a bit colder than she’d like, but with the Emir’s son being in trouble, she couldn’t possibly leave her post.

Leela paces about north of Lady Keli’s jail.

Quests

The following quests can be started in Draynor:

  • Vampire Slayer
  • Ernest the Chicken
  • A Fairy Tale, Part One – Growing Pains (Members)
  • A Fairy Tale, Part Two – Cure a Queen (Members)
  • Animal Magnetism (Members)
  • Missing My Mummy (Members)

Around the Haunted Manor and the Less Haunted Town

Goblin (Level 2)

Goblins are one of the most widely spread races of RuneScape, such that if they were ever properly organised they might threaten larger towns. It is a good thing, then, that they are a poorly organised race and prone to bickering.

  Dark Wizard (Level 7)

The dark wizards that lurk just southwest of the village are an odd sight, even in Draynor. They are not terribly dangerous, being new to the order, but they have slightly better Defence against Magic than other forms of attack.

Most of the local goblins can be found east of Draynor Village.   The dark wizards can be found south-west of Draynor Village.
Ghost (Level 19)

Ghosts might be an eerie sight anywhere else, but within Draynor Manor, where the chairs follow you about the house and every floorboard creaks menacingly, ghosts are to be expected. They can be dangerous, but magic is quite effective against enemies that have no bodies.

  Market Guard (Level 20)

The Draynor Village Market is often full to capacity, and combined with the recent bank robbery, the town has thought it wise to employ market guards. They will not attack anyone who abides by the law, but if your fingers happen to stray into someone else’s pockets, they will be forced to attack.

Ghosts can be most widely found on the first floor of Draynor Manor.   Quite unsurprisingly, the market guards can be found in Draynor Village Market.
Skeleton (Level 22)

Skeletons may look harmless and weak, but their lack of muscle is more than made up for by the potent magic that holds them together. If you are a new adventurer, it might be best to avoid the skeleton in the closet at Draynor Manor. If you must deal with it, however, the skeleton’s bones will give way under a barrage of crushing attacks.

  Witch (Level 25)

Unlike Aggie, who has moved to town, witches are not generally friendly types and are more than likely to use their foul magic to try to kill careless adventurers. They also make potions, normally used to poison food.

The skeleton can be found in the closet on the ground floor of Draynor Manor.   The witch can be found in the north-west room of the ground floor of Draynor Manor.
Jail Guard (Level 26)

Note: Jail guards are aggressive, so if you wander past, and they think they can kill you, they will attack.
The guards employed by Lady Keli are quite dedicated, certain that, though their work may be dull, the payment more than makes up for it. They are also quite well trained, and obey Lady Keli’s word without question. Their armour isn’t fantastic, and, like all melee fighters, they are weak against Magic.

  Black Knight (Level 33)

Black Knights are not usually found away from their fortress or Taverley Dungeon, but a solitary Black Knight wanders the woods south of Draynor Village. Like the dark wizards north of him, the reason for his presence is unclear.

The jail guards never stray far from Lady Keli’s jail.   The Black Knight can be found south of Draynor Village.

Miscellaneous

  • Aggie’s house features two spawn points; one for cheese, and another for tomato.
  • The rat-infested shack next to Morgan’s house has two log spawn points.
  • If you have a pet fish, you can feed it with the fish food on the first floor of Draynor Manor.
  • If you creep around behind Count Draynor’s coffin, you will find a bronze medium helm spawn point.
  • Once members have completed Ernest the Chicken, the entrance to the Killerwatt Plane will open in Professor Oddenstein’s laboratory.
  • Draynor is an ideal place to practice lower level pottery, with a pottery wheel in the north of the village and a clay mining spot to the south-east of Draynor Manor.
  • In an effort to protect itself, the bank has hired two guards. While one of them stands by the doors, the other has hidden himself nearby. Leaf him alone, he’s not in the mood for chatting!

Falador

Posted by runescape

Falador’s white stone castle

Falador is the glorious capital of Asgarnia. As it is situated at the centre of RuneScape, it sees vast numbers of visiting adventurers and traders every day. The most striking feature of Falador is the white stone from which the city is built. Every house and hovel, the castle and the walls, all of the city is constructed from this stone – remarkable in RuneScape.

Falador is officially ruled by King Vallance, though he has not been seen for many years and the practical day-to-day running of the city has fallen to Sir Amik Varze, leader of the White Knights.

Location

Map of Falador

Falador lies in the centre of both Asgarnia and of RuneScape, and as such it is relatively straightforward to find. It lies north-west of Lumbridge and Draynor Village, and directly west of the foreboding edifice of Draynor Manor. To the east, beyond the Barbarian Village and the River Lum, lies Varrock, capital of Misthalin.

To the north of Falador lies the Dwarven Mine, which can be reached both above and under the ground, by virtue of the lattice of tunnels that extends between the Mine and the Miners’ Guild in Falador. Travelling north-west from Falador, via Taverley, will bring you to Burthorpe, seat of the Crown Prince of Asgarnia and home of the Imperial Guard.

There is little directly west of Falador except the Makeover Mage, Photo Booth and Dark Wizards’ Tower.

To the south lies Port Sarim and the village of Rimmington. Also, the Clan Camp lies just outside the city’s south wall.

Though there are only two gates in Falador’s walls, there is also a broken section of wall to the west, and a tunnel beneath the walls in the south-west.

Points of Interest

Falador’s points of interest

Falador is divided quite evenly down the middle, providing the residential district in the eastern half and the commercial district (and the White Knights’ Castle) in the west. Outside the city walls to the south the massive farms of Falador provide food for the city and for any adventurers who might wish to spend some time growing their own vegetables.

The Castle itself is an impressive example of the work of the master engineers of Asgarnia. It rises high above the city to provide an unrivalled view of the White Knights’ domain, and it is surely this imposing sight that has held off invasions in times past. Should you be a member of the White Knights (by completing the Wanted! quest), you can purchase armour from Sir Vyvin. You can check what level of White Knight you are by either checking your Quest Journal under Wanted!, or by talking to Sir Vyvin. Wandering about north of the castle is a Town Crier, who is more than happy to explain the Rules of Conduct and the role of Player Moderators.

Many travelling adventurers and merchants gather in the grounds of the park, and around the city’s centre to sell their wares to other traders. If you find yourself in possession of some goods, or you need something specific, it is probable that another adventurer is there willing to buy your goods or to sell goods to you.

If you own a house, the Herald, who lives in the castle, can track down your family tree and give you a coat of arms that you can decorate your house with. He will also paint pictures to hang upon the walls of your home.

The city boasts two banks, allowing adventurers to make the most of the city’s other amenities. In the north of the city is a park, where more peaceful wanderers may like to grow a tree or spend some time looking around at the flowers, trees, ponds or the statue of Saradomin.

In the city’s south-east is an entrance to the Mining Guild, which can be entered at level 60 Mining, and the Artisan’s Workshop, which provides a variety of interesting Smithing training methods, so long as you provide your own ores.

In the north-east of the city is the Party Room, which is for partying. Obviously.

Personalities

King Vallance

King Vallance is the ruler of Falador and of Asgarnia. He has spent a good deal of his life on the throne, but in recent years seems to have retired from public life. No one has seen him quite a long time, and now Sir Amik Varze rules Falador in his place.

  Sir Amik Varze

Sir Amik Varze is the leader of the White Knights of Falador, who are a shining light of nobility and chivalry in a dangerous world. He is remarkably approachable despite the strains of ruling in King Vallance’s stead, and is more than willing to find some sort of work for eager adventurers.

Sir Amik Varze can be found in the second floor of the west tower of Falador Castle.
Sir Vyvin

As well as being a fearsome warrior, Sir Vyvin is also the White Knights’ one-eyed armourer. He is a veteran of many battles, and it is his unflinching dedication to the order of the White Knights that has earned him such a high and respected position.

  Sir Vyvin’s Squire

The Squire is a well-meaning, if forgetful, young man, hoping to one day become a fully-fledged White Knight of Falador. Like all squires, he must spend a few years yet as little more than a dogsbody, cleaning and maintaining Sir Vyvin’s armour and weapons, preparing his meals, and generally working as cook and cleaner.

Sir Vyvin can be found on the second floor of the castle, in the east wing.   Sir Vyvin’s Squire can be found in the courtyard of the White Knights’ Castle.
Sir Tiffy Cashien

This old warrior is a member of the secretive group that calls itself the Temple Knights. He speaks in a strange manner, but it is perfectly in keeping with his monocle and the ways of the Temple Knights (who, to those familiar with them, are a particularly quirky bunch).

  Wyson the Gardener

Wyson is a dedicated gardener, and always looking to improve the trees in his care. Sadly, one of his experiments involved using ‘Malignus-Mortifer’s-Super-Ultra -Flora-Growth-Potion’, which, though his trees certainly grew to enormous size, also affected the local mole population. He’s now looking for bold adventurers to keep the population of giant moles to a minimum.

Members can find Sir Tiffy Cashien sitting on a bench just inside the south entrance to the Falador Gardens.   Wyson can be found in or around the pavilion in the east of the Falador Park.
Party Pete

Party Pete runs the Party Room, so you need to talk to him to arrange anything truly exciting, like a balloon drop. He is very enthusiastic, which could easily get on your nerves if you had to spend any real length of time with him… then again, he does have one of the most amazing hairstyles in all of Asgarnia.

  Megan

Megan works at the Party Room, and her specialty is working up a sweat dancing. She’s actually quite good at it, so it’s a pity there isn’t a dedicated dance school for her to teach at.

Party Pete can be found keeping the party alive in the Party Room.   Megan can be found in the bar upstairs at the Party Room.

Quests

The following quests can be started in Falador:

  • The Knight’s Sword
  • Black Knights’ Fortress
  • Recruitment Drive (Members)
  • Wanted! (Members)
  • Quiet Before the Swarm (Members)

Defenders of the City

Dwarf (Level 10/11)

Dwarves are not often found within the boundaries of human settlements, but the Mining Guild in Falador provides an excellent reason for their presence. Dwarves are stout fighters, and their mistrust of Magic gives them some Defence against it. If you’re new to killing dwarves, melee or Ranged are preferable to Magic.

  Town Guard (Level 19/21/22)

The town guards of Falador may be numerous, and they aren’t as dangerous as the White Knights, but they can still present a challenge to unwary adventurers. They are skilled with a variety of weapons, including bows, axes, swords and crossbows. Their armour varies, but most are quite resilient to slashing attacks, and vulnerable to stabbing or Magic.

Dwarves can be found in the Mining Guild in the eastern half of Falador.   The Town Guards of Falador can be found wandering the city in a number of places, but there are usually clusters of them at the city’s north and south gates.
White Knight (Level 36/38/39/42)

The White Knights are possibly the most famous knightly order in the whole of RuneScape, and that reputation is well deserved. The Knights are formidable opponents and their armour and weapons are of the highest quality. Their ranks are denoted by the plumes on their helmet: a basic knight wears a red plume, a Proselyte wears yellow, an Acolyte wears Green, and a Partisan wears blue.

The White Knights can be found, quite obviously, in the Castle of the White Knights.

Miscellaneous

  • There is a bronze pickaxe spawn point in the Mining Guild.
  • There is a hammer spawn point upstairs in the forge just north of the castle.
  • Cooked chicken mysteriously spawns in the top floor of Cassie’s Shield Shop.
  • If you prefer your chicken raw, or are a keen fletcher, there is a chicken in the courtyard of the White Knights’ Castle.
  • Members can go hunt moles for Wyson; if you give him the moles’ claws or hides as proof of slaying the giant moles he will reward you with birds’ nests. Some of these nests may contain seeds, useful for advancing your Farming skill.
  • If you have completed Recruitment Drive, you may choose to respawn at Falador. Talk to Sir Tiffy Cashien about ‘the Gaze of Saradomin’.

Hemenster (Members)

Posted by runescape

Despite being a small and sleepy town, Hemenster attracts a number of visitors. Most usually they come for the Ranging Guild and the Fishing Guild; people also arrive from around the world to compete in Hemenster’s famous Fishing Contest.

Location

Location of Hemenster

Hemenster is in a good central location, lying on the road between Seers’ Village and East Ardougne.

To the north is McGrubor’s Wood, a large swathe of private land filled with trees.

West of the town is the Tree Gnome Stronghold.

Points of Interest

Hemenster’s points of interest

The most obvious feature of Hemenster is the two guilds: one for Fishing and the other for Ranged. Both guilds have suppliers of useful goods, as well as excellent training areas. The Ranging Guild, in particular, should be noted for the quality of its challenges.

Hemenster also plays host to the most important Fishing Contest in RuneScape, so you can usually find the finest fishermen in the land congregating there to test their skills.

Personalities

Grandpa Jack

For years no one could best Grandpa Jack in any Fishing competition anywhere in the world. He’d cast his line out, wait a few seconds, and haul in the biggest fish people had seen in decades. He could have gone on like that for many more years, but Grandpa Jack wasn’t in it for the glory. No, Jack liked to see people fishing, so he passes his secrets on to anyone that cares to listen.

  Vlad, the Sinister Stranger

Though contestants come from around the world, few have so obviously come from as far afield as Vlad. He’s very careful with information about himself, though, so don’t expect him to admit to his nighttime hobbies.

Grandpa Jack can be found reminiscing in his house north-east of the Contest area.   Vlad can be found by the shore, waiting for the contest to begin.
Big Dave

With a name so completely absent of irony, Big Dave could hardly be expected to give his secrets away. He is the reigning champion of the Fishing Contest, and wants to keep it that way. As a result of this attitude, he’s not likely to make many friends, but he might get another trophy for his shelf.

Big Dave can be found by the shore, sizing up the competition.

Quests

There are no quests to start in Hemenster.

Peaceful Hemenster

Guard (Level 37)

Though Hemenster is so peaceful a town, devoid of monsters and other creatures, the Ranging Guild is filled with guards. These are competent archers equipped with longbows, and commanded to eliminate any threats to the Guild. As the Guild is a multicombat area, adventurers could well find themselves in combat with a number of guards simultaneously.

Guards can be found in the Ranging Guild.

Miscellaneous

  • Though most of them are broken, there is a large number of arrow spawn points in the Ranging Guild. Even broken arrows can be fixed, though, provided you have a workshop in your house.
  • As you enter the Fishing Guild, you will find that a number of Fishing items respawn in the first room.
  • Grandpa Jack obviously has another hobby besides Fishing, as you can find a glassblowing pipe on a table in his house.
  • The tribal weapons seller in the Ranging Guild sells a variety of throwing weapons, including rune throwing axes.
  • Fishermen representatives from the Fishing Guild regularly appear both inside and just outside of the guild. Talk to them if you’d like to know more about the guild’s Fish Flingers competition, and possibly enter one.

Lumbridge

Posted by runescape

A quiet town on the west bank of the River Lum, Lumbridge presents a good start to your adventuring. The weather is always fine and the citizens are usually friendly. Despite its imposing castle, ruled by the generous Duke Horacio, the town is founded on its farms. There is much to do in Lumbridge, though, and it boasts a variety of training and practice opportunities, whatever your particular interests may be.

The town’s buildings are all made of the same grey stone that has survived through the years. This is the sort of determination that has seen Lumbridge through even the hardest times.

Location

Map of Lumbridge

Lumbridge is the first town you come to when you start your adventures in RuneScape, so finding your way there after your first few expeditions should be no trouble. It is at the centre of the ‘starting area’, bounded by a long wall and guards, who warn players with a skill total below 60 that they are entering more dangerous lands.

It lies directly south of Varrock, the capital of Misthalin and seat of King Roald. East from Lumbridge is the gate to Al Kharid, a major desert town that spans the desert from the Lumbridge gate to the Shantay Pass. Travelling west from Lumbridge will deliver you to Draynor Village, a small town menaced by the ominous Draynor Manor.

As a rural township, there is a cluster of farms to the north where the locals scratch a living from the soil. There is also a windmill, which supplies most of the surrounding region with flour for bread, cakes and other baked treats. To the south of the town is Lumbridge Swamp, a sodden and dreary area filled with twisted mangroves.

Points of Interest

Lumbridge’s points of interest

Shopping in Lumbridge doesn’t need to be expensive. As a promotion to attract customers, the stores of Lumbridge offer free items – as long as you haven’t taken a sample recently.

No guide to Lumbridge would be complete without mentioning the castle. This mighty edifice has stood guard over the town for far longer than anyone can remember and looks set to continue in this way for many years and decades to come.

The farms to the north of Lumbridge are also worth a look, as they are usually quite well stocked and the farmers are not inclined to complain if you are forced to steal a cabbage out of hunger.

The church just north of the graveyard is a good place to recharge your Prayer points, and Father Aereck is always up for a chat about the finer points of modern theology.

The field to the north of the windmill was once the home of Gnomecopter Tours, but since it ceased trading Beefy Bill has set up residence in the surrounding paddock. He will send any unnoted beef, cowhides or flour you have to your bank for a 10% commission.

Travel south of the church and the Lumbridge graveyard and you’ll find a jetty that leads to a Fremennik longboat. This will take you to Daemonheim, where you can train your Dungeoneering skill.

Personalities

Duke Horacio

Duke Horacio is the chivalrous ruler of Lumbridge. His family has a long history of watching over the town, and so he has become a careful and wise Duke, much as his father was before him.

  Sigmund

Sigmund is the Duke’s advisor and a citizen of good standing in Lumbridge. He isn’t fully trusted by the townsfolk, though, as many believe he holds too much influence over the Duke’s decisions.

The Duke can be found in his chamber on the first floor of the castle.   Sigmund can be found with the Duke, probably advising him on matters of state.
The Cook

Duke Horacio’s personal cook is a strange sort of man for his job. He seems constantly underprepared and more than a little bewildered by his post. Despite this, he occasionally manages to prepare food that mere commoners have no right to eat.

  Phileas, the Lumbridge Sage

Phileas is the oldest and wisest citizen of Lumbridge, and he doesn’t mind sharing his wisdom with any who ask. So old is the Lumbridge Sage, that few remember he was once the librarian of Varrock Palace.

The Cook, obviously, can be found in the castle kitchen.   Phileas is never far from the signpost by the bridge across the Lum.
Father Aereck

Father Aereck is the local priest of Saradomin and is exceedingly proud of his church (it is over 230 years old, you know). He is also a keen organist, much to the annoyance of his neighbours as he plays late into the night.

  Bob, of Bob’s Brilliant Axes

Bob has been grinding hatchets for at least as long as anyone cares to remember, and in a town like Lumbridge his skills are always in high demand. He can be gruff at times, but if you’re short of a hatchet and have some gold to spend he’ll be right with you. Bob is also able to repair hatchets – for a fee, of course.

Father Aereck can always be found looking after his church in the south-east of Lumbridge.   Bob is always in his shop just south of Lumbridge Castle.
Roddeck

It’s easy to forget that Roddeck almost brought terrible ruin to Lumbridge by keeping a pet dragon. Whether he is mending his ways or simply being an eccentric busybody, Roddeck has become your advisor and is of great use to those who call on him.

  Xenia

Xenia travelled to Lumbridge to investigate rumours of Zamorakian cult activity. A seasoned adventurer, she seeks to impart her knowledge and experience onto a new generation of promising young heroes. She can be found in Lumbridge Graveyard. She also has a reward for the most dedicated of questing heroes.

Roddeck can be found from your advisors button, or in his house on the east side of Lumbridge.   Xenia can be found in the graveyard of Lumbridge Church.
Nastroth

Nastroth is a big fella, but not as big as his older brother, Mandrith, who resides in Edgeville. Both of them will buy any of the rarer drops you can get from revenants in the Forinthry Dungeon.

Nastroth can be found wandering about Lumbridge Castle’s courtyard.

Quests

The following quests can be started in Lumbridge:

  • The Blood Pact
  • Cook’s Assistant
  • The Lost Tribe (Members)
  • Love Story (Members)
  • Myths of the White Lands
  • Recipe for Disaster (Members)
  • The Restless Ghost
  • Rune Mysteries

The Creatures that Lurk

Giant spider (Level 2)

Giant spiders are a common creature in the lands of RuneScape and can be dangerous foes. Mercifully, the giant spiders around Lumbridge are a puny breed and should present no difficulties, even to novice adventurers.

  Goblin (Level 2)

Goblins are one of the most widely spread races of RuneScape, such that if they were ever properly organised they might threaten larger towns. It is a good thing, then, that they are a poorly organised race and prone to bickering. Goblins are, like giant spiders, quite simple opponents.

Giant spiders are most commonly found behind Lumbridge Castle.   The goblins around Lumbridge tend to mill about to the north and west of the town. There is also a significant cluster of goblins over the river to the east.
Giant rat (Level 3)

Just like giant spiders and goblins, giant rats are a common sight. They are slightly tougher than goblins and giant spiders, but this still doesn’t say much.

Giant rats can be found west of Lumbridge Castle and in the swamps to the south of town.

Miscellaneous

If you’re in a hurry for a snack, Lumbridge is possibly the best place in the world. There are a couple of good Fishing spots on the far side of the river, overstocked farms to the north, and chickens. Chickens are a great source of food as they are very simple to kill, drop feathers for Fletching and when cooked properly they’re quite tasty. On top of that, chickens lay eggs, so keep an eye out for the feathered creatures.

Cows are also useful, as they provide both beef and cowhide. They can be found north-east across the river on Farmer Groats’s land. If you take a bucket you can milk the dairy cows.

Sheep in the pen in the north of Lumbridge will provide you with wool, though you will need to get some shears first.

There are a couple of spots in and around Lumbridge worth keeping an eye on if you’re new to RuneScape:

  • Behind Bob’s Brilliant Axes is a knife spawn point.
  • In front of Fred the Farmer’s house (north of Lumbridge) is a chopping block with a bronze hatchet embedded in it.
  • The southern stairwell of Lumbridge Castle has a mind rune spawn point.
  • Next to the northern stairwell in the Castle is a bronze arrow spawn point.
  • The Castle kitchen and basement hold a selection of equipment useful for improving your Cooking skills.
  • The room next to Duke Horacio’s chamber in Lumbridge Castle has a bronze dagger.
  • On the east side of the river, Barfy Bill will teach members to make canoes to travel the River Lum.
  • Do you enjoy knowing a few random statistics? There are two signs in Lumbridge – one outside the Castle gates and another at the entrance to the cow field – with some amusing numbers to entertain you.
  • New adventurers looking to get stuck into an exciting combat quest should speak to Xenia in the graveyard.
  • Those adventurers who have completed at least one subquest from the Recipe for Disaster quest will find the Culinaromancer’s Chest in the Castle basement.
  • If you haven’t helped him already, Fred the Farmer could do with a helping hand to shear some of his sheep.
  • There is a plaque just outside of Lumbridge Castle’s main gate to commemorate the winners of the prestigious Jagex Clan Cup. Identical plaques also reside at Clan Wars (behind the clan portal) and in Edgeville (behind the Soul Wars portal).

Sophanem (Members)

Posted by runescape

Sophanem lies in the far south of the Kharidian Desert and is not an easy place to reach unharmed. It is advised that you take a lot of water with you, as well as wearing a full set of desert robes. For more information about surviving the harsh desiccation of the desert, read the Terrain Survival Guide.

Introduction

The Sphinx patrols Sophanem

Sophanem and Menaphos are the twin cities that sit like a shining jewel at the bottom of the Kharidian Desert. In ancient times these were the pinnacles of human civilisation, and few could muster armies to rival the might of those that followed the desert gods. Since then, though, the cities seem to have fallen from grace, and now Sophanem is a plague-stricken city whose gates are closed to all, while Menaphos has sealed itself off from the world as if to preserve itself from the dangers outside.

Sophanem is dominated by two great pyramids, where the tombs of their ancient kings and priests are hidden from the thieving fingers of wandering adventurers. Wandering about outside these mighty edifices is a devout follower of Icthlarin, the Sphinx. She is an ancient and wise creature well-acquainted with the history of RuneScape, but only willing to speak openly with cats.

Location

Map of Sophanem

Sophanem lies at the very bottom of the Kharidian Desert, nestled into the end of the River Elid with its twin city, Menaphos, where the ruling castes reside.

North-east of Sophanem is the Jaleustrophos pyramid, better known to the world as the Agility Pyramid, and further beyond that is the town of Nardah.

North-west from Sophanem is another pyramid, that of Jaldroacht, an ancient and foreboding structure that all who visit it could swear was touched by an eldritch evil older than human civilisation.

Points of Interest

Sophanem’s points of interest

In older times Sophanem was a bustling city filled with merchants and slaves by their thousands. Since the plagues began to strike the city, it has descended to the base level of a quarantine town. The slaves stand about lazily, while their masters hide in their houses afraid of strangers who might be bringing further trouble.

The town still manages some industry, though particularly light-fingered adventurers might like to plumb the tombs of the pyramid Jalsavrah (in Pyramid Plunder), where the Guardian Mummy has arranged for tomb robbers to earn a few trinkets.

The Great Temple in the west of the city is home to a number of priests, as well as the High Priest of Icthlarin, who is worth talking to if you are confused about the state of affairs in Sophanem.

After completing Contact! a bank will become available in the north-east of the city.

Personalities

The Sphinx

The Sphinx is older than any living inhabitant of Sophanem, and is well acquainted with the secret histories of RuneScape. She prefers the company of cats, though, so adventurers are unlikely to gain any useful information without the assistance of a pet feline.

  The High Priest

As the leader of the Church of Icthlarin, and the guardian of the pyramids of Sophanem, it falls to the High Priest to ensure that the devourer – Icthlarin’s godly foe – gains no foothold in the city. He has other matters on his mind of late, though, such as how to lift the plagues from Sophanem.

The Sphinx can be found in the centre of the city.   The High Priest can be found in the Great Temple in the west of the city.

Quests

The following quests can be started in Sophanem:

  • Contact! (Members)
  • Dealing with Scabaras (Members)

Dangers of the Stricken City

Plague frog (Level 11)

One of the many plagues that has fallen upon Sophanem caused the frogs of the River Elid to flood into the city. Not only that, the frogs were afflicted with a disease, which has spread from them to the rest of the inhabitants of the city, human and animal alike.

  Locust (Level 18)

Plagues of locusts are a typical punishment sent down by the gods, and in Sophanem it is no different. What few crops the city maintained have been eaten, and now the hungry creatures lurk in the shadows waiting for a tasty adventurer to wander by. They are soft creatures, though, and their bite is far nastier than their hide.

Plague frogs can be found on the banks of the River Elid.   Locusts can be found in the east of the city.
Jackal (Level 21)

Jackals are cunning animals with a powerful pack mentality. You will almost never find a jackal alone, as their method of hunting is based on working together. Jackals are not powerful enemies, but if you have just crossed the desert without much water…

Jackals can be found just north of the locked city gates.

Miscellaneous

  • One of the rewards in Pyramid Plunder is a golden sceptre that holds the power to teleport you to a number of pyramids, one of which is Jalsavrah in Sophanem, giving you a quick route to the city.
  • You must visit Sophanem to get clothes for Ali Morrisane in the Rogue Trader task; you will have to speak with Siamun, who can be found in the east of the city.

The Grand Tree, teeming with gnomes

Many centuries ago, the gnomes of RuneScape emerged from the caves and tunnels in which they used to live and began to settle in the treetops of forests. Since that day, they have established massive holdings and grown the mightiest tree in the world: the Grand Tree.

Most of the gnomes in RuneScape live in and around the Grand Tree, building platforms on the branches and hollowing out the trunk for spacious rooms. They are a friendly bunch of creatures and incredibly inventive: some of their notable achievements include the gliders that allow fast and convenient travel across RuneScape, their remarkable cocktails and their even more delicious food (even though toad is a staple ingredient). Without the gnomes, it is almost certain that technology and culture would not have advanced as far as it has.

Location

A map of Tree Gnome Stronghold

The Tree Gnome Stronghold takes up a massive area of land in the north-west of RuneScape, on the western bank of Baxtorian Falls.

South and south-east of the Stronghold is the twin capital of Kandarin, West Ardougne and East Ardougne.

To the east, past Baxtorian Falls and McGrubor’s Wood is Seers’ Village and Camelot, where King Arthur is taking some time out before returning to England in its time of need.

Points of Interest

The Stronghold’s points of interest

The Tree Gnome Stronghold is a massive settlement, and gnomes know how to use space. As a result, there is always much to do there.

In the north-west is the Gnome Ball field, where the gnomes allow humans to try their hand at this peculiar sport.

In the south-east corner of the Stronghold is the Gnome Stronghold Agility Course. The gnome armies are especially well-trained, and all of them must meet the approval of the gnome trainers, who shout encouragement from the sides.

The Grand Tree is in the north-east of the Stronghold, and is the centre of gnome culture in RuneScape. On the first floor you will find the remarkable cuisine of Gianne’s Restaurant and the tasty tipples of Blurberry’s Bar. Both Gianne and Blurberry are constantly in need of staff to help out, so if you want to learn the secrets of the gnomish gastronomic arts you might like to pay them a visit.

On the top level of the Grand Tree is the local Gnome Air glider, which will take those that have completed The Grand Tree to almost any Gnome Air landing point in RuneScape.

Personalities

King Narnode Shareen

Though gnomes are very different from humans in many ways, they still have a king. King Narnode Shareen is one of the wisest of all the gnomes, and is very keen to establish good relations with the human kingdoms. His job is not simple, though, as there are many within the Stronghold who would like to see gnomes as lords over the humans.

  Glough

Glough is the current chief of the gnome armed forces, and one of the main supporters of gnome supremacy. It is his duty to ensure that the Grand Tree is kept safe from all dangers, so it’s quite understandable that he is suspicious of anyone taller than himself.

King Narnode Shareen is almost always in his throne room on the ground floor of the Grand Tree.   Glough can be found in his tree house just south of the Grand Tree.
Daero

Daero is also in the gnome military, second in line after Glough. He is much more open to friendship with humans and other non-gnomes, though, so any shift in power between the two should signal a significant change in gnome diplomacy.

  Blurberry

Blurberry is an icon of gnome culture, for it is in his bar that the many gnomish cocktails can be purchased. He is a friendly gnome, and always looking for talented staff. The shop to the east of his bar also sells ingredients and recipes for these peculiar beverages.

Daero can be found sampling the treats in Blurberry’s Bar.   Blurberry can be found watching over his bar on the first floor of the Grand Tree.
Aluft Gianne Snr (and Jnr)

Gianne’s Restaurant is famed throughout RuneScape – especially among gnomes – for the quality of its food and the strange delicacies that gnomes so enjoy. Gianne is, like Blurberry, always after staff to help run the restaurant. Funch’s Fine Groceries also sells Gianne’s cookbook and many of the ingredients needed to make these treats.

  Trainer Nacklepen

The tortoises that the gnomes have recently begun using in their military must be trained to become other than the docile and passive creatures that they naturally are. For this, Trainer Nacklepen’s notably brutal approach has proven surprisingly effective. Essentially, he shows them nothing but cruelty and beats them down until they are as callous as he is.

Aluft Gianne can be found in his restaurant on the first floor of the Grand Tree.   Trainer Nacklepen can be found wielding a cruel staff in the tortoise enclosure north of the swamp.

Quests

The following quests can be started in the Tree Gnome Stronghold:

  • The Grand Tree (Members)
  • Monkey Madness (Members)
  • The Eyes of Glouphrie (Members)

Defenders of the Grand Tree

Giant rat (Level 3)

The tunnels beneath the Grand Tree feature creatures that the gnomes allow to live on the grounds that they provide some protection against invaders from beneath the earth. Giant rats are by no means adept defenders, though, as they make easy prey for almost every adventurer.

  Gnome guard (Level 23)

Despite their short stature and preference for the greener and cleaner parts of the world, gnomes make excellent soldiers, especially because they can be summoned up to battle in numbers. The gnome guards of the Stronghold are as numerous as you would expect, and will fight to the death against anyone that thinks gnomes are weak.

Giant rats can be found in the tunnels under the Grand Tree.   Gnome guards can be found throughout the Tree Gnome Stronghold.
Giant bat (Level 27)

Bats are nocturnal creatures that rely on their sense of hearing to find their prey, for this reason they tend to prefer living in caves, where they can hear echoes of footsteps and their own cries to pinpoint precisely where their prey is. Their wings are their weakness, and arrows are excellent at puncturing them.

  Terrorbird (Level 28)

Terrorbirds resemble the chompies loved by ogres, but are much more vicious. They are trained as riding beasts by the gnomes, who then marshal them into regiments and charge into glorious battle. Without a rider they are still dangerous foes, and can be assigned as a Slayer task.

Giant bats can be found in the tunnels beneath the Grand Tree.   Terrorbirds can be found in the central area of the Stronghold.
Mounted terrorbird gnome (Level 31)

What could be more terrifying than a terrorbird? A terrorbird with a gnome on top! These cavalry soldiers are among the finest soldiers the gnomes can muster, and lead their charges into battle armed with spears or bows to decimate their enemies. Mounted terrorbird gnomes can also be killed for Slayer experience when assigned terrorbirds.

  Tortoise (Level 79)

Tortoises are generally very peaceful creatures, but the gnomes have discovered a way to turn them into bloodthirsty beasts of burden for their soldiers. These tortoises have yet to make that transformation, though, and are instead simply in training (which generally involves beating them with sticks and other implements).

Mounted terrorbird gnomes can be found in the central area of the Stronghold.   Tortoises can be found in an enclosure north of the swamp.
Battle tortoise (Level 92)

Once Trainer Nacklepen has finished his brutal work upon the tortoises and the gnomes are in place upon their back, the tortoise becomes a mighty battle tortoise. These lumbering beasts are the perfect platform for the gnomes to take the battle to the enemy, blasting them with Magic and arrows, as well as the tortoise’s own fearsome attacks.

Battle tortoises can be found in an enclosure north of the swamp.

Miscellaneous

  • Gnome Cooking is an excellent way of not only training your Cooking, but also giving you a nice selection of food and drinks to keep you fed when fighting monsters.
  • Speaking of which, you may like to offer your services to Aluft Gianne Jnr, in the Gnome Restaurant.
  • There are a number of rare trees and normal trees within a very short distance of a bank.
  • Flax can be found close to a spinning wheel, which is also very close to a bank.
  • To get your Agility skill trained up, the Gnome Stronghold Agility Course is the only level 1 course in RuneScape.
  • Brimstail, the gnome magician, will teleport you to the Rune Essence mine.
  • Swamp toads can be found in great numbers by the swamp in the north of the Stronghold. You can then use these to either prepare some gnome food, or in an Agility Potion.
  • Aside from the Gnome Air gliders, you can use the Spirit Tree to teleport you across the world. Note that you must have completed the Tree Gnome Village and The Grand Tree quests to use the Spirit Tree Network.
  • Once you have completed The Grand Tree you will gain access to the mine beneath the Grand Tree. This features a plentiful supply of various ores.
  • There is a level 37 Agility shortcut in the north-east of the Stronghold. This will take you close to the Barbarian Outpost.
  • There is a fruit tree patch north of the Gnome Stronghold Agility Course.
  • After you have completed Monkey Madness, you can return to Crash Island, and then to Ape Atoll, by talking to Daero.

TzHaar (Members)

Posted by runescape

The TzHaar city is a multicombat area and though you may think that some of its citizens make easy pickings, the larger ones will often come to their aid. For this reason, it’s a good idea to either avoid attacking anyone or to come down with friends (or you can just be supremely confident in your skills).

Introduction

TzHaar city, a little warmer than the rest of RuneScape

The TzHaar city is a very different place from the rest of RuneScape: the walls and floors are barely solid, and lava glows through the cracks; the beings that live there are themselves made of stone; their might is indisputable, yet they have no history of attacking their neighbours. Even the mightiest warriors, rangers and mages are careful when wandering the caverns of the TzHaar.

Even the currency in the city beneath the volcano is different. The stone men seems to place little value on gold, and instead favour obsidian, a black volcanic glass.

Location

A map of TzHaar City

The TzHaar city is relatively simple to reach, as it is located a very short walk from the two main docks on Karamja. To the west is Brimhaven, and the Amulet of Glory will also teleport you extremely close to the entrance.

Once you enter the dungeon you will need to find the cave entrance nearby, this is the entry point to the TzHaar city.

East, across the seas to Asgarnia, is Falador.

Points of Interest

The TzHaar City’s points of interest

The features of the TzHaar city that draw the most visitors to the city must be the Fight Pits and the Fight Cave. In the Pits, JalYt (non-TzHaar) combatants fight to be the last one standing, while in the Fight Cave adventurers attempt to survive dozens of waves of bizarre creatures for the merest chance to fight the legendary TzTok-Jad.

In TzHaar-Hur-Lek’s ore and gem store, those who have earned a particularly large amount of TokKul can purchase an uncut onyx, a highly sought-after stone.

TzHaar weaponry is also excellently crafted, and can be purchased from TzHaar-Hur-Tel.

Personalities

TzHaar-Mej-Kah

TzHaar-Mej-Kah is the guardian of the entrance to the Fight Pits, and it is he that hands out the rewards for the victor. He is responsible for the day-to-day running and maintenance of the Fight Pits, as well as making sure the viewing orbs are working properly. He is, like all TzHaar-Mej, a powerful mage and wise leader of the TzHaar.

  TzHaar-Mej-Jal

TzHaar-Mej-Jal may well be the most frequently visited TzHaar in the city. He watches over the Fight Cave and ensures that the beasts are fed, watered and enraged. If anyone could be called TzTok-Jad’s master, then it is TzHaar-Mej-Jal.

TzHaar-Mej-Kah can be found at the entrance to the TzHaar Fight Pits, in the west of the TzHaar city.   TzHaar-Mej-Jal can be found inviting wandering adventurers to test themselves against the TzHaar Fight Cave west of the main city.
TzHaar-Mej-Lor

TzHaar-Mej-Lor is one of the wisest of all TzHaar, and also one of the most interested in the ways and affairs of humans. As such, he has been charged with creating a library of human books, with the aim of providing useful texts in a simpler language than that which the TzHaar use.

  TzHaar-Hur-Brekt

The TzHaar are not widely known for their artworks (unless you consider their exceptional weapons to be works of art), but some TzHaar take great interest in more leisurely, intellectual pursuits. TzHaar-Hur-Brekt is fascinated by theatre, and could become famed across RuneScape – if he can ever get a play off the ground, that is.

TzHaar-Mej-Lor can be found in the TzHaar Library, just south of the furnace.   TzHaar-Hur-Brekt ponders the finer details of literary art in the TzHaar mines.
TzTok-Jad

TzTok-Jad is without a doubt one of the most dangerous beasts on RuneScape. Thousands of over-confident adventurers have fought their way through hundreds of terrifying beasts only to meet their end under a barrage of TzTok-Jad’s attacks. He is surely the greatest tourist attraction in the TzHaar city.

TzTok-Jad can only be found by the mightiest warriors, rangers and mages, and only in the TzHaar Fight Cave.

Quests

The following quest can be started in the TzHaar city:

  • TokTz-Ket-Dill (Members)

The Men of Stone

TzHaar-Hur (Level 74)

To say that the TzHaar-Hur are the weakest opponents in the TzHaar city says much of the TzHaar’s strength. They are powerful fighters, but are also the craftsmen in the city. They fashion weapons, armour and ornaments, as well as mining the onyx that the TzHaar value so highly.

  TzHaar-Mej (Level 103)

The TzHaar-Mej are both the leaders of the TzHaar people and powerful mages. They use the power of the rocks and the volcano to defeat their foes, but as the TzHaar are generally peaceful they do not often have to do so.

TzHaar-Hur can be found throughout the city.   TzHaar-Mej can be found throughout the city.
TzHaar-Xil (Level 133)

Even men of stone must eat, and the job of hunting their food falls to the TzHaar-Xil. They are excellent fighters, and beyond the talents of most adventurers. They are the darkest in colouring, which no doubt aids them in hunting their prey. The TzHaar enjoy preying on large mammals and rodents that, like the TzHaar, are strong enough to burrow through the hard volcanic rock.

  TzHaar-Ket (Level 149)

The TzHaar-Ket are the warriors of the TzHaar, and their massive frame shows this off admirably. They wield massive TokTz-Ket-Om and TokTz-Ket-Xil, or any of the TzHaar weapons they so choose. They are strong enough to even wield with one hand (or their four) those weapons that normal men must carry with two.

TzHaar-Xil can be found throughout the city.   TzHaar-Ket can be found throughout the TzHaar city.

Miscellaneous

  • The only currency that the TzHaar accept is TokKul, which is not tradeable and can only be gathered in the TzHaar city.
  • TzTok-Jad is one of the toughest beasts in RuneScape, and you’ll only find him in the TzHaar city. If you’re looking for a challenge, you’d best head under the volcano.
  • The Fire Cape, the only animated cape in the game and certainly the best, can only be won by defeating TzTok-Jad. If you defeat TzTok-Jad twice or more (well done!) you will receive another Fire Cape and a large quantity of TokKul.
  • Players with level 25 Dungeoneering will be able to find a mysterious entrance in the beginning areas of the TzHaar city.
