RuneScape Updates: Behind the Scenes October

October is traditionally a month of scary surprises and toothache. This month will be no different when it comes to our Hallowe’en content, with a quest AND holiday event both to be available on the free servers. For scary surprises: how about entire worlds where you can PK and hunt other players to your heart’s content? That’s right, PvP worlds are coming! But first, a few words about how we’re going to update RuneScape Gold in the future.

During the last six months we’ve been reading through the forums, talking to you in-game and running polls on the sorts of updates you really want. It doesn’t take a genius to realise that it’s the bigger, chunkier updates that really get you excited, those like the God Wars Dungeon or a new skill. These are the sorts of updates we found that you wanted to play. Updates that you want to go back to time and time again.

So, starting from this month, we’re changing the way we release content. From now on you’ll see one massive “headline update” (such as a Recipe for Disaster or a Castle Wars) every month. On top of that, there will still be a secondary release, much more like the size of update you’re used to right now. We’re also still committed to making sure that no two weeks pass without something new.

Basically, from now on our releases will be like this:

* Four week months will have two updates: one big headline release and a secondary one.
* Five week months will have three updates: one big headline release and two secondary ones.

So, on to this month’s updates…

PvP Worlds

Ever found yourself wanting to say, “Look, it’s my tree. If you don’t stop chopping it…I’ll chop you!” Sounds cool, right? Yeah, but where could you do it? And when? The answers are PvP worlds and October!

From log-in, those that are interested in PvP content will be able to join in on special PvP worlds. The danger on these worlds will be very clear from the first messages you see, ensuring that players never log onto these worlds by mistake. After all, we don’t want players accidentally getting involved with PKing (player killing) if they don’t want to. Normal, non-PvP worlds will still act just as they do now, so don’t worry if bashing others isn’t really your thing.

Dutch Youths Convicted of Virtual Theft

As the increasing population of MMO gamers, many players may have suffered from helpless because of in-game crime. But in Holland, that will never bother players any more. A Dutch court has convicted two youths of theft for stealing virtual items in a computer, reporting by Radio Netherlands.

The details are as below:

Cyber goods
The public prosecutor argued, in what has become known as the ‘Runescape’ case, that virtual items used in the game should be considered as real and tangible goods as they have real, tangible value for the owner. The prosecutor noted that winning, collecting and trading Runescape Gold objects play an important role in the virtual world and can also be sold for money in the real world.

According to the public prosecutor, if these items are valuable to their owner and he has been forced to hand them over to somebody else, it should be considered theft. The lawyer representing the culprits argued that legally, the items do not exist and therefore cannot be considered to have been stolen.

Material object
The court dismissed the defence lawyer’s argument and cited an earlier ruling that electricity can be considered a material object for the purposes of criminal law and stealing electricity is theft. The court ruled that the same principle can be applied in this case and stealing virtual Runescape Gold items is theft as the owner was forced to hand over his possessions.

Runescape launched German version

Runescape Gold announced the German version is now available.

Hello and guten Tag!

As you might have noticed, we?ve just added a German language option to the sidebar on the front page of our website. This goes to a section of this website where all the text in the game and on the website has been translated into German.

At the moment our German section is online for testing only, which means not all areas are available to everyone yet. Anyone can view the open areas, but the areas which need a login (including the game itself) are currently running in ¡°closed beta¡± mode, which means you will only be able to visit them if we have specifically invited you to take part.

As you know, we only ever contact people through their message inbox in the secure customer support section of the website, so if you haven¡¯t had a message from us, then you haven¡¯t been asked to try them out. You¡¯re not missing out on anything, though: there are no special new objects or anything new at all on the German worlds, only that the Wise Old Man, Bob and everything else is ¡°auf Deutsch¡±!

IMPORTANT WARNING: Remember that we only ever contact players via their RuneScape Gold message inbox on this website. We will NEVER invite you via your email or via in-game messages, so DO NOT FALL FOR ANY SCAMS. Also we do NOT have secret sites on which you can sign up for the German beta. Any site claiming to be such is a fake designed to steal your password.

Just as a reminder, your messages from us can only be read by clicking on the ¡°Read your messages from Jagex¡± button on the front page of our website, in the ¡°Account management¡± section on the left of the page.

We are not currently looking for any more people to join the beta test, so please do not contact our staff to offer your services and, again, beware of people offering to ¡®get you in¡¯.

The people who have been invited were chosen randomly from a list of our German players. They are not being paid or given any special treatment by us, they are simply given the opportunity to try out the new German servers and help us iron out the bugs before they are opened to the rest of the public. A huge amount of effort has gone into translating the roughly 1.5 million words on the website and the game, but some of our NPCs (especially King Roald) have been less than cooperative while learning this new language, so one or two words might have slipped through the net.

Players on these closed beta worlds (139 F2P and 140 members) will still be able to talk to their friends and play the game as normal.

Once the ¡°closed beta¡± stage has finished and we have educated all of our NPCs about the proper way to pronounce ¡°Wiederherstellungstrank¡±, we will be opening the servers for everyone to use, just like all of our existing servers.

Runescape: PvP Worlds Have Arrived

RuneScape Gold PvP worlds have arrived! Are you ready to pit your combat skills against other players in the halls of the White Knights’ Castle? Are you prepared to fight to the death in the fields of Lumbridge? Well, now is your chance.

To get started, load up the game like normal, and then choose ‘World Select’ on the title screen. Then pick a world which has a tick in the ’skull’ column to choose a PvP world. To avoid nasty accidents, if you let the RuneScape Gold game choose a world for you automatically it will never select a PvP world. Also note that you require a Combat level of at least 20 (not including Summoning) to get into a PvP world.

Before you are logged in, you will be warned that you are entering a PvP world which is a dangerous place: you will lose your items on death and you will not get a gravestone. Upon entering the world for the first time, you’ll be teleported to Lumbridge and given a manual to explain the finer points of PvP worlds.

Here’s a quick run-down of the features:

*Fight players (within your level range) anywhere on the map, except in a few safe areas.
*Safe areas include banks, respawn points and some guilds.
*Level ranges are 10% of your Combat level, plus 5 levels. If you are fighting inside the Wilderness, the Wilderness level is added to this total. Your current attack range is shown on your screen at all times. (The 10% is measured from the higher of the two combatants’ levels.)
*Skulling is back - same rules apply. If you initiate combat, you are skulled and on death you will lose all items, with the Protect Item prayer saving one item as normal.
*Teleport Block is back in the normal spellbook.
*Some minigames are available to play, others are not - please see the Game Guide for more details.
*Death drops are back - new rules apply. Drops will be a mixture of items from the defeated opponent’s inventory and items from drop tables specific to PvP worlds. See below for details.

The quality of the drops you get when you PK someone depends on several different factors:

*To get a reward from a kill, you also have to risk some items yourself!
*To accumulate a possible reward, you have to risk a minimum of 75k of items on a members’ world, or a minimum of 25k of items on a free world.

Runescape: Money Guide

Runescape Gold is a massive multiplayer adventure, with monsters to kill, quests to complete, and treasure to win. You control your own character who will improve and become more powerful the more you play. This isn`t a Runescape Gold game where everything that happens is pre-determined. What you do in the world is up to you! The game is multiplayer which means you will meet many other people in the world who you communicate and trade with. Make new friends and go adventuring together to stand a better chance against the stronger monsters. Perhaps you want to make your money trading Runescape Gold valuable goods with others. Or if you like taking risks, you can choose to fight with like-minded people to try and steal their treasure.

Guide to money making:

1.Woodcutting — Yews are a good idea, but try find a small world and beware, do not go into edgeville to woodcut, either falador south or varrock palace is good idea

2.Mining — Mining coals is the best u can get out of mining. They are fast and easy and are really easy to sell. I recommend mining guild for doing coals.

3.Cooking — Cooking can lose you money if you do not be careful. You won`t gain any money unless you have i would say about 66+ cooking. When you do have about 66+ cooking, i recommend you to cook lobsters. Buy them raw and sell them cooked. How much profit you want depend on how many you burn and whether you are greedy or not.

4.Fishing — Fishing is a definant gain whether your fishing is high or low. However, i recommend you to be 50+ in fishing and member if you don`t like walking. If you don`t mind some walk, when you reach 50+ fishing, go karamja and start fishing lobsters. If you can cook them, cook because you earn more.

5.Prayer — You do not gain money by prayer. However, you can sell dragon bones which is members for quite some money, however, i personally think it is a waste of time

Those that want to get involved will find a number of differences to the usual set-up on PvP worlds. Firstly, you?ll be able to fight people pretty much anywhere, so long as their Combat level is similar to yours (within a certain range of levels). This means that almost everywhere is dangerous. Some places, like banks and respawn points, will be deemed ?safe? and no combat will be able to occur there, and some of the minigames will be disabled (you won?t be able to PK team mates while playing Castle Wars, for example) but many will still be active. Other places, like Falador, Varrock and the entirety of the Wilderness, will be considered ?hot spots? where the danger will be even greater and a higher concentration of opponents.

Two More Weeks of RuneScape at Lower Price!

When RuneScape Gold HD launched early this month, we released a newspost about the planned price change for new subscribers. We would like to remind you of that price change.

For new subscribers becoming members on or after the 18th August, the monthly cost of RuneScape Gold membership will increase by 30p in the UK, $0.95 in the US and by similar amounts in other currencies. These examples are of increases on credit card prices - all other payment types will increase by a similar margin.

If you have an existing subscription (or you set up a subscription before the 18th August) this price change will not affect you. You will continue to pay the lower price for as long as you keep your membership valid.

If you are an existing member and you allow your membership RuneScape Gold to lapse for more than two weeks (after the 18th of August), you will be charged the new rate when you re-subscribe.

You may have noticed that the date of the price increase has changed from the 4th to the 18th of August. We have delayed the date to allow new and free players more time to take advantage of our lower membership cost. Behind the Scenes - September

When you decide to train a skill, you may have one area in mind: a favourite patch of trees, perhaps, or a specific altar to craft your runes. Well, this month’s first update, Distractions and Diversions, will threaten to turn that way of thinking on its head. You see, Distractions and Diversions will offer new ways of training your skills, but you’ll rarely know when (or where) they’ll turn up next…

Take Penguin Hide and Seek, for example. You may be walking around RuneScape Gold, summoning yaks and thieving paladins, when something catches your eye. Is that a flash of beak in that nearby bush? Does that toadstool have flippers? You won’t be going loopy - the penguins of the north are spying on us humans, and Larry will want you to spot them first. He’ll be willing to pay RuneScape Gold well for a penguin sighting and will even cash in your Penguin Points for experience in any skill.

It would be hard to get more bizarre than penguins in mushroom costumes, but Distractions and Diversions has an ace up its sleeve. That ace will be Balthazar Beauregard’s Big Top Bonanza, a travelling circus that encourages the audience to get up and join the action. Wow the crowds with a magic trick, acrobatic feat and a well-placed throwing knife and you’ll gain experience or even an outfit to clown about in.

The last Distraction and Diversion will come in the form of a Shooting Star. Instead of making a wish, you’ll need to rush to the crash site and mine its thick outer layers. Break through them on your own or with others and you’ll uncover a curious-looking star sprite, the magical inhabitant of shooting stars. As a reward, it might even help you out with some gold, objects and the ability to temporarily mine quicker.

Not all of our updates arrive and depart as unpredictably as Distractions and Diversions; the following release, the Clan Wars Update, is a far more predictable (but welcome) addition to this Behind the Scenes. It’ll bring a swathe of new options for creating a clan war that suits you. What options will be available? Time for a list!

RuneScape:Resizable Game Window

We have introduced a new and optional way of viewing RuneScape gold HD: a resizable game window. This feature is available to both free players and members.

The new feature will adjust your RuneScape gold HD game window to fit the size of your browser. So, if you expand or maximise your browser, your game window will expand too, filling all of the available space. If you reduce the size of your browser, your game window will reduce with it.

This feature is completely optional. You may activate or deactivate it via the Graphics Options, either on the login screen or in-game (accessed via the spanner icon).

The resizable game window is only available for RuneScape gold HD. It is not available for the RuneScape gold version of the game.

How does this differ from fullscreen?

The main difference is that fullscreen will completely fill your screen. It will do so if your browser is minimised, maximised or anywhere inbetween. The resizable feature allows you to view the RuneScape game at whatever size you want - just reduce or increase the size of your browser and the game window will follow.

When playing RuneScape HD using the resizable game window, your interfaces will be arranged in the manner as fullscreen mode. This means that your tabs will be arranged across the bottom of the game screen.

Unlike fullscreen, the resizable game window is available to both free players and members.

Note: If you have a slow computer and you make the resizable window very large, you may find the game slows down a bit. If this happens, just make the window a bit smaller or, if you prefer, turn it off using the Graphics Options menu.

Runescape Clue Scroll

If you’re bored and wondering around Runescape, why not attack that Guard over there? You never know, it might drop a Runescape Clue Scroll. If you have a Clue Scroll, then its time to start your treasure trail. There are three different levels of Treasure Trails, each with a better reward than the last. To get a higher level Clue Scroll you have to kill a higher-level monster. For a level one clue scroll, you will have to kill a monster between the levels of 2 and 48, for level two you will have to kill ones in the range of 21 to 149 and for level three you will need to kill in the levels of 56-304.

There are a couple other ways to get a runescape gold Clue Scroll other than killing monsters. One way is with Shade Chests. A Bronze chest would give you a level one clue scroll, the Steel chest hands out level one and two, the Black Chests give level two, and the Silver Chests toss out level threes. You could also pickpocket H.A.M. members to get a level one clue scroll. If you happen into the Zogre Cavern and get a key from one of the monsters, use the key on one of the coffins and you might get a nice level one clue scroll.

Once you have your Clue Scroll, you’re going to have to do various tasks to get your treasure, such as solving Anagrams, doing hard Math problems, and following maps. I am going to help you solve your Clue Scroll. Lets start with the Math Problems.

» How many people are waiting for the next Bard to perform? 4
» How many buildings are there in the village? 11
» How many houses have a cross on the door? 20
» How many banana trees are there in the plantation? 33
» How many cannons does Lumbridge Castle have? 9
