The Prayer Beast

Posted by amber

I am doing a series on RS pures on my blog, and since more readers is better than fewer, you get to read it here too! I am going to edit these RS Blog articles to keep the posts at a more manageable word count, so if you want to see the whole article check out the RS Economist, but the important facts are all here.

The Prayer Beast
They are one of the most lethal killers out there, the G Maul Prayer Beast. Before the G Maul spec nerf, they were really lethal, but still they are pretty powerful, and are starting to make a come back.

Required Skills
» Str: 50
» Att: 50
» Def: 0
» Prayer: 31
Those are the minimums you will need to be a serious threat in PvP fighting. Minimums to wield the G Maul are 50 att and str, keep def at zero to minimize your combat lvl, and prayer at 31 for Ultimate Str.

Outfit:
1.Iron Full
2.Cape - 600gp
3.Amulet of Strength
4.Granite Maul - 130k
5.Explorer’s Ring - Lumby Achievement Diaries
6.Monk Robe Top - Prayer Guild (535gp from GE)
7.Anti-Dragon shield - King of Lumby (289gp from the GE)
8.Monk Robe Bottom - Prayer Guild (485 from the GE)
9.Safety Gloves - Stronghold of Player Safety
10.Fighting Boots - Stronghold of Security
Total outfit cost:
About 150k. If you want to spend the time, pick up the free stuff, but it is all pretty cheap.

Inventory:
PK food and Zammy Brews. At the cost of <250 per dose, they offer the str and att bonus of Super pots at 1/10 the price, and prayer bonus. They do have an HP and def penalty, but at 1 def, it doesn’t matter so gobble a fish to heal up after every shot.

Carry a rune scimmy. Twice as fast, and hits higher than a maul. Wound them, then pull out the maul and Quick Smash ‘em to death

It is easier to buy the materials for Zammy Brews and ask for an assist than it is to buy them.

Passive Training

Posted by amber

Hey all Turbo the RS Economist here. I made a post to a forum a bit back and it garnered little interest there, but the idea was too good to let go. Here it is again updated and revised just for you:

I saw a sadly misinformed conversation today in my clan chat today. The subject was whether farming was a slow skill or not. Clearly only one person knew what they were talking about, and the others spouted off unfounded jibberish about racing to 99 fletching and betting on who would finish first.

Farming is very similar to merchanting on the Grand Exchange in that it is a passive skill. It is possible to stand at the GE and yell at the NPCs there to trade your items faster. Does anyone do it? I would hope not. You go in, make your buys, collect, and check prices. Basically your actions only take a short period of time (unless you spend all day analyzing, which you shouldn’t). Then you can log, wait, skill, take your dog for a walk, or do anything while the trades go through. You make money passively here.

Farming is the only skill that you can really effectively train passively. Just because you can’t actively train it to the tune of 800k xp in a day (like fletching) does not make it a slow skill. That is comparing apples and oranges. Farming is the only skill you can train that grants you 14k xp in 2 minutes. (Check health of mage tree, pay farmer to dig up, supercompost, plant another magic tree for example).

A 10 minute farming run planting watermelon, torstol, and a belladonna nets me, on average, just over 20,500xp. Selling super compost and the pots I produce pays for the farming run, plant the occasional snapdragon and you are making money. Fletching/cooking can approach that kind of xp return, but at dire costs. Aside from that, it also makes no sense talking about speed when you ignore the opportunity cost associated with the action, ie the time it takes to make the money/collect supplies you burn while achieving that xp/hour.

Finally, to get xp from fletching or cooking, you need to be actively there training the skill. You can’t leave 500 yew longs and bow strings with a fletcher and come back in 90 minutes to have them done and get your xp.

In Conclusion, minute for minute, farming is by far the fastest skill in the game and the only real passive skilling you can do. Comparing it to active skilling is like comparing income from interest on a Certificate of deposit, (buy, wait, sell) to working for $6 an hour at MacDonald’s. You have to be there actively working for an hour to make that $6, you also stop earning when you go home.

Yes. It is almost sad that so many people have the misguided idea that it is somehow boring or slow, and don’t take advantage of some seriously fast xp (not to mention huge profits from herbs) that farming offers.

Great post, I always thought farming was unfairly looked down upon

So You Want to Farm?

Posted by amber

Turbo here from the RS Economist Blog. With that last post I have fielded quite a few questions, so here is a basic down and dirty guide to profitable farming from level 1 for you. Not a typical RS Blog Post, but I threw it up here for your reference.

Buy 24 potato seeds (96gp), 4 marigolds (66gp), and 10 compost (970gp). Buy any utensils you will need form the farmer.

Remove weeds from any farming plot and place in the compost bin. That is 12 weeds for 156 xp. Use the compost on all 4 plots and plant your potatoes and marigold for another 42xp. You will have made it up to level 3 at this point. Pay the farmer to look over your potatoes. It costs less than 200gp (compost) and the xp is well worth it.

Now the challenge is to set a goal. Do you want money? XP? Herbs for herblore? A good starting goal is 35 farming. At that level you can plant ranarr with relatively little chance of them becoming diseased and reap some huge profits.

The easiest route to 35 farming?
Plant at least 2 areas at a time for faster farming xp. It is passive training, so the most time is spent in preparation, and preparation for 2 areas is nearly the same as for a single one. Explorers ring for the Fally area and cammy tele for the catherby plot is an easy route for 2 areas.

What to plant

After harvesting your first crop, add another 3 potatoes to the compost bin and make compost. You should be making this every round for later use as payments, for your crops, or just to sell. You will now be at level 5. Plant two more areas with potatoes, and 2 marigolds. These are in demand for summoning, so it is better to pick them and plant again than to use them to protect your allotments. (Marigolds sell for almost 3k, payments only cost 180gp).

After harvesting your potatoes and marigolds again, you will be at level 10. Now it gets interesting. Guy some guam seeds. They are cheap enough that you can let them die at a higher rate. All crops tend to get diseased and die a lot more until you are at least 3 levels above the min to farm them.

At this point if you have the ectophial, you can start farming all 4 areas. Ecto to the port P, Cabbage tele to Fally, Cammy to Catherby and then run to the Ardo plot.

One trip to the 4 areas planting cabbage, marigold, and guam will net about 2,400xp, do that twice and you will be up to level 22.

Now you can plant sweet corn, a very profitable farming product. Seeds cost 455 (1365 an allotment), and the produce sells well for a profit. Make yourself some scare crows and you are good to go. Plant whatever herb seeds you can. Real money doesn’t come from those until you are level 29 and can do Harras without a reasonable chance they will die.

One more trip planting that will get you to 25. Repeat again twice and you are to level 30, and can start doing fruit trees. Start those at 27 if you pay for the gardener to watch them though. 3 more farming rounds or 8 apple trees will be at 35, and ready for some serious cash making opportunity.

Thoughts on farming

Super compost costs 500gp, Ingredients can be had in bulk from the GE for 100gp eacy, and no requirements to make it. Make it every round, if you don’t, then make normal compost every round. Running out of buckets? The RFD chest stocks them and Catherby has them in unlimited supply. At a free 135 xp per area, that adds up fast, not to mention the higher yields it gives you for allotments and herbs.

Ask away if you have any questions, or pm me in game and I will give y ou the tour. - kamakiri88

Great guide on farming to be honest, better then a lot I have seen in the past. Great job!!

nice article!

Jagex has always had a smear campaign against autoing/macroing/botting. Most players listen to them and their warnings of “If you do it, we will catch you, and you will be banned.” Out of fear for their precious accounts, people don’t even look for cheats.

I want to tell you otherwise.

I have played RuneScape for roughly 4 years. It will be 5 this June, not counting the breaks I have taken. For most of those 4 years, I was the model player. I reported players when I thought it was neccessary, I didn’t break rules (except swearing, but hey, that’s been lifted a bit) and most of all, I didn’t bot. RuneScape was never really boring. I was a member for most of the time, and so I had plenty to do. RuneScape was good.

Shortly before 2008 breathed its last breath, I re-kindled a friendship with an old mate. He introduced me to sites such as Sythe and Fagex, and taught me the art of scamming. Together we scammed two accounts, and several membership PINs. Sythe and Fagex also have a RSBot section, and I looked through it and eventually downloaded RSBot.

I wish I had done it sooner. RSBot is easily the best thing I have done in my RuneScape career. I am botting right now! Jagex claims they will find you, and yet in 3+ months of near constant botting, I have not been warned nor banned.

As the title proclaims, robots don’t get Carpal Tunnel. If RuneScape is getting boring, you can do what I always did, and take a break. Alternatively, you can take the step and get RSBot. You will never be the same.

What website did you download it off of? I know that some sites deliberately make their program recognizable to get you banned, so you must have chosen one of the few authentic bot sites.

You are correct in assuming that it is extremely unlikely for Jagex to detect a bot using computer software, as usually the bot is in your computer, not the RS system. However, Moderators are always on the lookout for botters, so be careful. They may ask you questions.

I got RSBot off of the official site, www.runescapecoin.net.

I’m not worried about Moderators. I’ve seen maybe 10 total during the 5 years I’ve played, and all of them were P2P moderators. I don’t think they’d bother look at me in F2P.

I’ve been testing some different summoner builds and plan to do a hybrid build later, which might be a horrible idea. This is for starters and also guys who plan on trying to make a more suitable PvP build.

IMPORTANT: Please be unique and choose your specific build and do know that one build will always beat another and circulates that way. Many have rumored that summoners are pathetically weak at higher levels. This is not a guide to create a hardcore summoner, but just to give you a better idea. I am going to focus on twin sword build because that’s what I am currently using and I suggest you guys all leave feedback and try to find better builds for our class.

Leveling experiences:

Party On!:

I recently partied for awhile until my 50s than began to solo because it was actually faster and more effective for the class. If you join a party, you are more safe from PK parties and save a ton of money. You may gain slower experience depending on which mob you train at. Keeping it to myself: Str Summoners are one of the fastest killers on mobs. Why? We have quick attack with high knockback rate which allows us to get attacked easily. Soloing will be faster exp because you have your summon to help tank/kill mobs with you. This can be very boring and kills the enjoyment of the game! At level 80+, we become one of the top AoE characters due to our cosmo skills and quick attacks + splash damage summons. Libio or Beast?: There’s a big discussion about this because each summons has its own abilities which benefits you eitherway. I don’t want to discuss this as much as it is pretty obvious that it all comes down to “how you like to play”. A staff build may want to stick with Libio so they can use melee monsters to tank the hits while they stay back and vice-versa. However, Libio is a str based summons and keeping it with the twin sword build will be more effective with crits and damage. Don’t take me on my word as your stat points might not even affect your monsters and it’s all about your libio and beast masteries. If it was based on your character stats, why darn summon should be doing a ton more damage than it was 30 levels back. Put your suggestion and experience and choose what you like best suits you. istribution: Okay here’s the basic build Offensive build: 4str and 1 heal per level + spr requirement (usually 5 addition for the next weapon, add it last minute) Defensive build: 3str and 2 heal per level + spr requirement (usually 5 addition for the next weapon, add it last minute)

Those are common builds and neither is mine. It is official that dex does not benefit a summoner as much as it does with health and str. The offensive build is a great start off as you will need to maximize the most damage to knockback the monsters. This will leave you more invincible to attacks while soloing. For offensive build, you slightly have a bit more health and defense but will this benefit you in any way? I honestly don’t think so because summoners have the lowest damage and defense. Your main goal in PvP is to knock them back as much as possible and kill quickly. However, at higher levels our attacks and skills does not do enough damage mess up bagis or knights 2moons dil.

How exactly are we suppose to PvP with those hp hungry characters? I can’t get in depth on this section yet and I would like everyone to elaborate on it a bit. I will continue testing and testing and see what helps us more effectively. I will revise this later to update on which skills benefit our build the most and what we commonly use.

Newbie guide (All Class)

Posted by runescape

2moons is not that complicated to play… Well, first thing;
Quests:
I know that it is bothering to do quests because it’s really long and boring and it mostly gives useless items. Well, I suggest on doing quests at the early stage like up to level 15 because they lead to new hunting grounds and dungeons…

EXP:
You gain experience killing mobs… The stronger that they are, the more they give, but there’s a few rules for experience gaining…
If you are lower than the monster level for more than 5 levels, you only gain like 25% of the EXP, I think….
Also monsters that are too weak for you don’t give you almost nothing…
At first, it’s really hard to catch stuff that are sronger than you… like red colored name tags…

Earning money:
Pretty complicated to make 2moons dil… Fastest way at low levels is to kill the “Fire horse” looking things in the map… They are located in almost every map in 2moons… They drop some 2moons items… Sell them in stores…There is another way to ear 2moons dil, if you are a lazy guy,you can buy money on this website, haha

Finding Friends??
Well, you don’t neccessarily need friends but to add them to the list just click on the character… Look the top of your screen there’s a triangle… Press and click Friend… If they accept, you can chat with them in messages pressing F.

PvPs, and PKs
The most exciting thing is probably PvP or Pk.
PvP is player fighting another player. Click on the character you want to fight and press PvP… If they accept, you can fight them, you earn pvp points, no use for the game but it is kindda cool getting them through victories…
Ok, PKs… The most places that people PK you will be in heinharp through levels 20-30…. If you are attacked and the character that attacked you turns purple, it means he/she is trying to Pk you. If you attack them back, your name also turns Purple… Don’t attack them back unless they are REALLY weak because if he/she kills you and you don’t attack, they gain IP points which is sort of like a criminal record in the game. But if you DO attack and your name turns purple and you die, even though he/she kills you, they don’t gain IP points…
Now, you should probably be wondering “wth are IP points?”
Well, IP points…. If you gain them, ANY character in the game gets a chance to kill you… It is BAD.. If you gain more than 300 of them, you go to prison… I wouldn’t recommend on Pking…

These are the leveling places;
Level 1-7 stay inside the castle… It will be pretty easy because you can actually level up by like 7 in like 10 minutes… No exaggeration.

Level 8-15 Go to North Ares/Denebe, they are located north side to the castle… Press M and you see it in the map.

Level 16-24 Denebe… Look in the map in North Ares or Morte.

Level 25-34 Go to Heinharp… It’s the Snow Place north to Denebe… Get a party first… In case you don’t know what I am talking about… Just level up to 25 and you’ll understand…

34-45 Go to Nunvice… It is EXTREMELY high exp. It is located in requires beach… You get there by going to denebe and look the map…

45-55 Go to Norak/Castor 2nd floor… It is the most boring stage of the game… I almost quit there. You will have to walk a lot till level 50, when you get to 50 you can transport there.

55-60 Go to Crespo.. Awesome EXP and fun contrary to the boring caves you faced for a couple of levels earlier.

Well, from 60+ you WILL understand almost every feature in the game…

Whew, it took me quite a time to finish this… If anybody wants to tell me or ask me something, please post it up… I’ll make sure to check it frequently…

2moons: PK Guide

Posted by runescape

if there is something I love in this game is the PK system: not only it is possible to kill other players but also you get punished by it, meaning that not everyone can PK, only those who can level up despite the punishment.

Next I give some details on about Pking and also on its consequences (and how to mitigate them):

a)Set your return point to Parka Temple if you are level 60 or less (I am level 59 so I can talk about what happens next) so if you get pked and you are red, at least you’ll be able to kill some monster and lower your IP without being attacked by a swarm of PK killers (hyprocrites!!!)

b)In order to PK you need to select the target and with the ctrl key pressed use the skill button.

c)If you are a suMMOner use first your pet attack to keep the victim busy (ctrl+shift+q).

d)Use first your strongest attack, use the surprise effect.

e)If the guy is busy fighting other monster (specially a mob) it even better, he’ll get confused and may not realize you are attacking him and not the mob.

f) If he in a mob make sure you manage to select him otherwise he may use the mob to protect him from your skills.

g)If you get IP higher than 500 and you die you go to prison. You must wait there (logging off will not help!) until your IP lowers to 500. A possibility is to pay bail but it expensive (1kdil per IP).

h)Two ways of lowering your IP, the first is time (I believe it 3 IP every 5 minutes (CORRECTION, 3 IP every one minute)) or killing white or red monster (Im not sure but I believe sometimes it does not work, bug?). I’ve heard people talking about losing PVPs but I tested 5 times and it didnt work.

i)If you are red you can use teleporters , buy from NPCs but you can still use parca temple comissioned quests (thus item a))

UPDATE!

j)If someone kills you (pkill) while you are red you lose 15 IP points.

k)If someone kills your pet (pkill) while you are red you lose 9 IP points.

MENLO PARK, Calif. Xfire, the fastest growing online gaming community in the world, today announced two new contests taking place as a result of its partnerships with Free 2Moons dil Play game publishers: ijji.com and Acclaim. Xfire’s Play 2Moons dil Win contests and Clans Competitions for popular shooter GunZ by ijji.com - live now through May 16 and David Perry’s Acclaim-published MMO 2Moons dil to go live May 16-30, allow players to win prizes based on the amount of hours they log on. These two collaborations are part of an ongoing effort by Xfire to create unique partnership opportunities with the biggest Free 2Moons gold Play games.

“About 90% of our users are choosing Free 2Moons gold Play games as their preferred online gaming experience, and therefore it’s a perfect fit for Xfire to partner with publishers of these highly-popular games,” said Adam Boyden, General Manager, Xfire, Inc. “Xfire will continue to look for opportunities to work with the Free 2Moons gold Play gaming community to further enhance the Xfire user experience.”

The GunZ and 2Moons items Play 2Moons items Win contests are free and easy for users to enter, as the only stipulation is gameplay. Once users log a certain amount of hours in each game, they are automatically eligible to win a prize. The more hours users play, the bigger the prizes. The prizes for these specific Play 2Moons items Win contests include in-game items and points as well as other “in real life” goods such as T-shirts and iPods.

In addition, Xfire will utilize their newly launched Clan and Guild system to host a GunZ and 2Moons gold Clans Competition. Xfire is encouraging users to recruit as many friends as possible to join their clan and log hours on GunZ and 2Moons dil. Xfire will track the total hours spent playing the chosen game and compile all user stats into one aggregation. The clan with the most hours logged will win an exclusive prize. Xfire’s easy-to-use Clan and Guild system is available now at www.xfire.com/clans.

“We’re glad to have Xfire as a partner and the opportunity for GunZ to be exposed to Xfire’s huge community of gamers,” said Whon Namkoong, CEO of NHN USA. “Xfire provides the premier venue to develop a strong community and an enhanced gaming experience for GunZ users.”

“Acclaim is pleased to partner with Xfire to present this exciting new contest for our 2Moons players,” said Howard Marks, Acclaim CEO. “Using Xfire, fans can easily keep track of all their gamer friends and encourage them to play 2Moons together to win all kinds of prizes.”

ijji’s GunZ is a third person alternative shooter that combines strong, action-based combat with role-playing elements. Equipped with a variety of guns and swords, players battle between themselves in a stylish, acrobatic flair, or work cooperatively to finish quests. 2Moons dil by Acclaim is an MMO that branches out from some of the conventional RPG mores. One of the most prominent features of 2Moons items is the abolishment of individual races; players simply choose what class they would like to play. Combat, skills, weapons and armor are then tailored to the individual player’s class. While gameplay is largely cooperative, players may still engage in “PVP” or player-vs-player.

For more information about Xfire and to participate in upcoming Play 2Moons gold Win contests and Clans Competitions, log on to http://www.xfire.com

Karon’s Transport Ship and Cherubim’s Lair are different from any other dungeons or hunting grounds in Dekaron. They are specially designed for teams and only expeditioners are allowed to enter these two maps. An expeditionary team will be formed by 12 to 18 players and the team can be divided into three groups.
